Back in the day the Bonanza V35 was known as the "Doctor Killer". It wasn't due to the aircraft design but doctors not having the time to develop their flying skills along with some having big egos..
Buddy Holly accidentally killed himself and three other people in a V35. The reason behind this was the type of artificial horizon (also known as an attitude indicator) that the aircraft was equipped with. While he did have IFR experience (but not a rating as he had failed the check ride) he was not familiar with the type of indicator in the plane and it was night time, snowy, and foggy so he probably couldn't really see anything outside. As for why he crashed, he became disoriented because rather then the more familiar type of display , the indicator functions the opposite of what one would normally expect. In a dive the bright "sky" at the bottom would shrink and the dark "ground" at the top would grow. He probably thought that he was climbing but was really descending. Don't understand what Sperry was thinking when they designed it that way.
@@twistedyogert Actually, Buddy Holly was not the pilot. Flying Magazine had an article on the NTSB report about 30 years ago. You are correct in stating the accident occurred due to a new type of attitude indicator which the pilot flying the airplane didn't have much experience. The pilot was 21-year-old Roger Peterson.
Thats old school, it does go from side to side in the reals. I been in one years and years ago when i was a kid. My GPA actually owned a plane. A small Cessna than his friend that he did air-shows with had this Bonanza.
I have not seen it mentioned yet but, I have heard it has been called "The Doctor Killer". I bought my copy and I Love having this airplane in my hanger. Thank You, Coronado!!!
yes that yoke can be swapped from side to side since I had a chance to fly in a very old model of this having on what they called the organ keys. IE nav lights etc lay out like an organ
To nail the landing you have to be fully configured at 1500 ft and then descend at a 6 degree angle (around 800-1000 ft/m) all the way to the numbers. You have to be prepared for downdrafts before the hill (that's what you experienced when you almost stalled) and then an updraft after passing it (nose down!). Cut the throttle once you have cleared the hill to get down as fast as possible.
So you had the autopilot on by accident while on takeoff according to the comments. Well, it's hard to talk and teach while flying the plane. Nice landing though. Fun to watch. I purchased this plane. This plane and the last one, the Beechcraft 18 are winners. I wish we could have the GTN750 in the panel but for the price, I'm asking too much. I don't use the 530; instead use the 750 from the pulldown menu.
During takeoff, I noticed the Autopilot was on. ;) Great video as usual. I might have to check it out for myself at some point (when I have the money). ;)
@@OverkillSimulations For some reason, it seemed to turn on, right after you switched the taxi lights on. Hmmm...... I'm sure we'll hear about it, if it's a bug. ;)
Yes it was on. Thats why the aileron was full up on the left and full down on the right. You mistook those for flaps before takeoff and thus the roll on takeoff run
I noticed the aircraft has a yaw damper which very desirable in the real life aircraft due to the v-tail behavior in turbulence. Without a yaw damper the aircraft oscillates about the yaw axis in turbulence and causes the wing tips to scribe little circles. One of the nicknames of the v-tail Bonanza is the Wichita Wobbler. But that v-tail does give it a few knots over the BE-36.
Any tips on how to map autopilot? I have two Carenado models and my standard Alt bug knobs will not work. Its a great plane but its frustrating when all my other planes work with AP AND ALT settings. I have a bravo throttle.
Thank You for another Great video Yes St, Barts is a Fun and Challanging place and ssince I have the J flight Arrow III / IV and the G36 Mod and since I was burned by the Carenao Senneca sooo should I get this ?? just a though Thank You
I bought it the other day, docile as long as you don't do what Avangel did.She tried kicking rudder from side to side, ended up in a flat spin no recovery possible...............................................................
You adjust mixture to max EGT. It won't change RPM or cyl head temp. I've had this plane since release, and the engine model works correctly when mixture is changed in terms of EGT, power output and fuel flow. Nice landing btw...
My grandfather had a V35 and yes, you simply swing it over the top and both seats can fly. Very cool

Vicious roll to the left on takeoff - full left deflection on your ailerons will do that!!!
Which can be seen at 10:00
The link to the mod is not included in the video description as you said.
i believe in real life, both seats are able to use the yoke on either side, which is very unique
I like the plane. I don't think I have a Caraneado in my hanger. Loved the content as always, Mike Slainte

what did you do to remove the trees?

What vessel mod are you using??
I have flown this plane alot since I have bought it. Love this plane
I really wish the Bonanza improvement mod would make the hanger usable this thing has been out for a while now and still no updates for the hanger

Which app do you used for the camera movements?
thanks. great video
Which airport is this? Is this the one that has the landing challenge with the King Air?
Tffj is the destination
I would love to know what your graphics settings are. You make such lovely looking videos.
which scenery addon do you used for st barts trees
?
I think you forgot the yaw damper

I have the same aircraft and I'm glad I got it. I hope that answers your question enough :)
@@OverkillSimulations yes Thank You I will just wait for SU 10 and see what happens .
How blown away are you? I would love to see more IFR flying using the steam gauges.
