    this is very cool. love the design of the carbon filter.

    Man, you gotta get the heat set insert tip for your soldering iron. Makes this process so much better.

    Built the wirelessly powered version for it's ease of use and clean look but the 24V fans were always intermittent. Boosted voltage with step-up converter and still couldn't get the fans to stay fired up. Tried a couple of different wireless receivers and still no joy (many others had similar issues but got it to work with different receiver but alas no luck for me). Gave up on wireless and went the hardwired route using the through hole just forward of the box along the sidewall. Designed a facade to attach to the bento box to hide the wires. Wired in parallel to a 24V power supply using some wagos and voila, no more issues. Going to design and print a housing for the power supply and add a rocker switch for convenience. Ended up being much simpler than I thought it would, albeit not as cool.

      I thought about trying to hook it up to a battery source, but decided it would be easier to just try and run the wires through the gap in the door. Thanks for Sharing!

    Awesome! I just got my bento box from Voxel a few weeks ago, (I kicked myself afterwards, I should have just printed my own!) I'm loving it, I mostly do PETG and PLA, but some filaments do off gas some smells, and the bento slurps it all up, i love it. (Elegoo rapid petg particularly gives off a melted plastic butter tub smell lol, the bento cancels it all out)

      Yeah I saw that option, but i figured it would be more fun to build one, even with my sketchy wiring 😂

      Thanks for mentioning this option. I was going to try to find all the parts and this saved me that.
      And you seem really happy with it, so that’s helpful info

    To super glue magnets down without getting superglue all over your fingers, you've actually got a couple of different options.
    1st: Use a steel or iron rod (like the back end of a drill bit) to hold the magnet and push it into the hole. You'll want a wipe handy to wipe the excess superglue off of the rod so it doesn't get build up
    Or,
    2nd: I've discovered you can use two magnets of half thickness. Press one in, apply glue over the top and then drop the other magnet into the hole: it will flip the right way, and should self align.
    Ref: I've been magnetizing tons of WH40K minis. So many fiddly bits...

    So, is this useless for a 3d printer like the A1 and A1 Mini which are not enclosed? For those open type 3d printer it would need a whole room filtration instead?

    • @RadDadsPrintLab
      @RadDadsPrintLab  4 дня назад +1

      If you added an enclosure this would work, but yeah it might not work great without one.

    • @JD-nw1jl
      @JD-nw1jl 4 дня назад

      @@RadDadsPrintLab gotcha. thanks! Just trying 3d printing for now (got an A1). The plan is try it out first and then if everything work out well and I really love it then eventually get the better / enclosed model.

    How did you end up routing your power wire? I think that’s always the big question with the Bento box

    • @RadDadsPrintLab
      @RadDadsPrintLab  3 месяца назад +3

      because the wire was so thin at one point, it fit thru the door crack even with the door closed.

    Any thoughts on how this would with a resin printer?

      @RadDadsPrintLab  21 день назад +1

      I imagine it would help, but I honestly have no experience with resin printing.

    Whats the power supply you use for the bento box? Trying to decide between wiring to the PSU or an external power supply.

    • @RadDadsPrintLab
      @RadDadsPrintLab  Месяц назад +1

      I went thru my junk drawer and found one. Personally I didnt like the idea of wiring to the PSU. One option you can do is getting a Panda Branch from Big Tree Tech if you use 5v fans.

      2 of them inside? Maybe one on each side of the build plate

    • @adamdooley3044

      you could probably add the mini bento by thrutheframe on the other side to be able to fit two of them.

    I have spent a very large amount of time working with my own products and magnets.
    For small spaces use a drop. Get thr precision tip. No other types. Use the tip to spread the glue.
    If it is too small get either a toothpick or tiny allen key and spread the glue, quickly!
    Then push the magnet in. Again everything has to be fast. Quickly wipe the excess with a paper towel. It may not seem like enough glue. But trust me. It is. Give the super glue the full 24 hours to cure.
    Enjoy properly glued magnets without gluing your fingers together

      Or use activator spray for CA adhesives. It can cause a slight discoloration on the surface, so use it with care especially on white plastics!

    Mine is so loud!!! I built one from scratch and used the 4028, 24V fans. I took the printer apart and hard wired it to the built in 24V power supply. The fans by themselves are pretty quiet, but when I add the charcoal and HEPA, the thing is obnoxious. I guess it is better than breathing poison, but has anybody else experienced a loud Bento Box?

      Is it because the carbon charcoal vibrating from the wind? Maybe you could pack more charcoal or insert a cotton filler into it to keep them packed tight. I hope this would help
