I think my faveit line in this is. "Sir I think we're out of fuel. What makes you say that? engine one has stopped working and engine two is No longer on Fire!"
I feel like this movie has a lot more emotional and powerful moments than the first. The way Alex was kidnapped by hunters before ending up in New York was a pretty dark, sad and powerful moment, the scenes with his parents are very heartfelt, and the romance story between Melman and Gloria, while pointless, I still felt every pain and emotion they were going through. The scene where Gloria rescues Melman from the volcano I think is their most epic moment in any of the films. Melman feels like he has to die, all because he lost the true love of his life to Moto-Moto, but Gloria ends up realising Moto-Moto loves nothing but her looks while Melman truly loves her for the wonderful, funny and intelligent female she really is, so she has to save her true love from getting tossed into the lava and reunite with him while also revealing her true honest feelings for him.
Besides, I think Makunga is a pretty good villain, just because of the way he's a true selfish asshole to everyone on the savannah. Yeah, he feels a bit bland, but throughout the entire movie, you just want him to be punished so bad for what he's done, which he of course was at the end. The part when the old lady finally beat him up was such a satisfying and hilarious moment. While I still think the first movie is funnier, I highly admire all the heartfelt and epic scenes this sequel had.
This review kinda annoyed me in the part where it just brushed off all the emotional moments and character development, because they weren't funny. Those moments make this my favourite of the 3.
The old lady is actually the main villain and is preety funny. The Alec Baldwin lion is sort of just the secondary villain.

The best Madagascar movie, in my opinion.
I prefer 3 but 2 is good.
In my opinion, I think this is the best film out of the three. It had a much better balance between the comedy and emotional moments and it wasn’t as in-your-face like the first film (especially not as much as the third film too). Despite my main criticism of it ripping off several plot lines from Lion King, Joe vs the Volcano, and Happy Feet, it was an improvement.
And Will.i.am voices a chunky loving hippo. There's that.Best theme song ever tho

I think the reason why the Madagascar sequels have second titles is to make audience know we're somewhere else.
I haven't seen this sequel yet, but 2:29 makes it look worth seeing! Oh and that old lady's back?????? help! lol
When they were in Madagascar they were already in Africa... Shouldn't it technically be called "Escape 2 Another Part of Africa"?

I love this movie, it’s my favorite out of the Madagascar movies.
Why is it that in Nostalgia Critic videos, he gets very annoying, but I videos like this, he's tolerable and even likeable at times?
because these reviews are more serious, you're thinking about the ones that are more for comedy

3:37 Meh, I disagree - a lot of people really dislike the first _Madagascar_ , but think the second one is fantastic, like you with the _Shrek_ movies. And even as someone who likes the first _Madagascar_ , I think the second one is *a lot* better.
Shouldn't it be Escape FROM Africa?
That title would go better with the third movie.
Well, the movie wasn't an escape from Africa.
However, I do still think the title doesn't make sense, because the characters never wanted to escape to Africa...they wanted to escape to New York City.
Obviously quite late to the game saying this, but I actually disliked the first Madagascar and really enjoyed the second - and I saw the first one when I was a kid and the second in high school. So I think it's worth trying even if you didn't think you were a Madagascar fan!
I like Zuba because according the creators, they made the alpha lion into Alex's dad so he would "be someone very powerful who is in [Alex's] life whether he likes it or not. Then the twist is that he isn't an asshole(though maybe occasionally insensitive). He is generally a nice guy."

What dislike about this movie Is Melman and Gloria romance i mean in this it's pretty Meh
but in third film It's Starting to get Annoying.
sadam 6129 the romance was supposed to be included in the first movie (along with Gloria being pregnant from the breeding program) but they saved it for the second movie so we could get to know the characters more.

twin towers show up in this movie when we see all these characters as kids in a zoo
SmashLiXs If you look carefully at the date on the newspaper after Alex’s photo was taken, it says 1972 (about 30 years before 9/11) so I guess that all this supposed to be taking place during the 80s, yet they have mid-2000s modern technology like handheld cam-corders and stuff. I dunno, it doesn’t make sense so I guess we just throw out logic behind the window when watching these movies. 😶

I've always had a competition on if the 1st film or the 2nd is better but I think I love them both almost the same, the 3rd one to me kinda sucked but it wasn't bad, I've never seen Penguins of Madagascar movie.

Personally, this one is my least favorite
I don't like that it retcons stuff/adds things that wasn't established in the first. Alex's birth mark, for example, and Melman's crush on Gloria.

Both lack an interesting story or welll developed characters, both are filled with cheap pop culture references and poorly executed gags, like the old lady who is tough....haha look! The granny kicked the lion in the balls....thats funny right?🙄

"It knows when to keep continuing jokes" Sorry, I strongly disagree. King Julien's monologue about the gods accepting Melman as sacrifice was so long and so unfunny that I wanted to strangle him.
And sadly, overall this movie sucks in my opinion. Not only is it a half-assed retread of Lion King (which probably has its own originality issues, but it still works), but it's just not funny in the slightest. Chris Rock and especially Sacha Baron Cohen were starting to get really annoying in this movie, and the separate character arcs just did not fit into the story well at all. The third one was not very good either, but at least it had some likable characters like the circus animals (particularly Martin Short as Stefano), and Frances McDormand was absolutely hilarious as the villain. The second one does not hold up in that regard; Bernie Mac was good, but his character was still no Mufasa. I do not recommend this movie at all.

i agree, while i laugh at the shlapstic(or however you spell that) also the granny for me was infurating
i mean it a granny doing martial arts and twisting a nipple, is supposed to be hilarious but i just find it wierd and cringeworthy, maybe because the character is a total twat, in the first film she was just an innocet granny that turned out really tough but here, she is a twat, i despice the character and i was rooting for alex to kill and eat her in a very ugly way

also one of my main problems is that this films don't seem to be connected, Alex seem to be becoming a badass and suddenly he is a little girl that didn't even remember how to grow his claws, especially from the second to the third, oh my god i though he was happy to be with his family again but in the beginning of the third it looed lie he hated it andwal away from his parents, like what?
