Love DC. I happened upon him at the Dublin airport, 2 years ago, before the gig with Leppard and B.S. Riders. He spent 20 minutes with my wife and I. Couldn't have been a nice gent. Cheers David and continued success.
really love hearing Coverdale's insight into these songs. in "Is This Love's" case for myself, it took me a little bit to get used to it. i think i was in the 7th grade when it hit and it got so much airplay. But I preferred "Here I Go Again" because it was more of a traditional rock song that I could get into. Coverdale revealing he was going to do this for Tina Turner now makes sense because it's definitely a very different type of song for Whitesnake, especially with a lot of the heavier sounding tracks with Sykes' Les Paul + Marshall amp screaming distorted signature sound. overtime though, I grew to really love this song. It has such a mystic vibe to it. The three main notes are very bluesy and this song is incredibly atmospheric. The solos are dreamy and you feel like you're driving around on a foggy night with the synths. The same feeling for me exist with Mr Mister's Broken Wings and the whole low string synth. What an atmosphere. Such a unique song.
David is a without doubt creative genius, a gentleman-rogue, has a wonderful wonderful voice…just listening to him talk is so sonorous and warm, let alone hearing him sing which is glorious. I wish to God he and John could somehow make amends and get together to do one last album…David if you read this I have nothing but enormous respect for you and love for your music, naturally the deepest of that is held for ‘Is this Love’.
Ahhh....... thank god Mr. Sykes made it happen become this a Whitesnake Masterpiece! Not said Ms. Turner wouldn't made it well and become a hit. By the way: This song is LOVE!!!
The biggest mistake in the history of rock music is that not enough bands had the guts to do it. I’m 39 and love all music. Slipknot fanatic but also a Whitesnake fanatic. This is the song that got me into rock and even now I play it constantly. Breaks my heart how good it is. That chorus and the keys going up just kill me every time. Gotta say it: Guns N Roses - Since I Don’t Have You Extreme - Hole Hearted , Tragic Comic, Seven Sunday’s Aerosmith - Crazy Man if Slipknot pulled something like this out the bag my heart would explode. And they are easily capable. I would love nothing more than to here the wild stuff and then out of nowhere for the first time ever they drop a song like this live. It will make people cry. It’s that powerful music. Anyway this track will always be in my heart with Eyes Without A Face by Billy Idol. I get why bands don’t do it as they see it as commercial and selling out. I see it as leaving a legacy for eternity cos no matter what happens in the next 1000 years, this video and song will ALWAYS be heard. Just think about that for a second
Mr. Coverdale is right. I did sing Is This Love when Whitesnake played in Istanbul, Turkey with an Iron Maiden shirt on me. And I was not the only one. :) One of the best rock ballads ever.
To be fair, the album 1987 has Sykes fingerprints all over it, very idiosyncratic of the way he has worked all through his career, does it sound like like Come and Get it? Nope. I think there's more than a few "embellishments", outside the two older reworked tracks, Sykes gets a co credit on every songs, which says it all.

Este tío se ha hecho una cirugía fijo
At the first glance I thought he was dave mustaine
"..and John more or less wrote everything.." is what he's really saying.
Bathtubgeorge! And John Sykes was up at 4 am..hm?I wonder how that was possible guess"boys and girls"..ha.
Not really. He played embellishments, that´s not everything:)

Dave really is giving John the credit that's due. Cannot critique him on that.
He can't NOT give John his due, somewhere in his mind I feel Coverdale still feels that there was another album in the pair of them.
This British dandy persona he invented for himself around the time he made it big in the US is just so laughable. That's not the guy he used to be.
