Just listened to the evolutions CD. John Sykes is just unbelievable. His backing vocals is fantastic, and his guitarplaying is just breathtaking. He's a mix between the older blues school and the newer more aggressive style. It is a real shame they could not work out their differencies. Because Sykes can not be replaced. No matter how good technically his replacements might be. The mix betweeen him and David was a one off.
Dear David Coverdale and John Sykes please forget the past and do one more album together, 1987 was a classic rock album and it seems a shame that two talented people don't want to do it one more time before its too late, both of you please reconsider and go out with a bang. I challenge both of you.
This album changed my life, I was 16 years old at the time. John Sykes and this album is the reason I took up the guitar. Granted I was 44 when I took it up but I played "Is This Love" on my channel. It was very satisfying playing one of my favorite tunes of all time. Thanks David and Sykes!
When I was having a blast rockin' out with Whitesnake back in the 20th century, I never thought I'd say in 2017, "Wow, David Coverdale has an amazing audiobook voice."
To me, the best hard rock album ever. I had the vynyl (gone with time), the CD, and now I want this box. Lot of memories from this time. What should we expect from an album with Coverdale, one of the best singers, and Sykes, an inspiring guitarist. Such a shame they got split and never come back together. At least, they left this masterpiece. Thanks for that.
Greetings from Brazil. Mr Coverdale is part of history of Rock and Whitesnake is one of the greatest band I had pleasure to watched live. Just love it.
An immortal album! 1987 is a classic. Thank you so much David, for everything.. Nice to hear about John, too. I have a dream, that John makes a Whitesnake-guest appearance and play these songs together..! Anyway, greetings from Greece :) Thanks for all, we love u David, forevermore.
Back in 1987 my folks got me the cassette version for Christmas with the Here I Go Again US remix on it. I then bought the 1987 vinyl picture disc, the US vinyl with the Sykes version of Here I Go Again and the UK CD!! There’s still a little snake in me (!😂) that is very tempted to buy this!!! Big shout out to Aynsley Dunbar, whose playing on this album changed my life!🤘🏻🥁
An all time great album and a staple of my teenage years. These truly bring back memories. .Brilliant stuff. Thought David was an old lady 4 a second😂 A true legend. Tour n play the whole album!!
Love this box set. Have been listening to it constantly since I got it last week. What I'm really impressed with are the 4 remixes. They should fantastic! I can actually hear bass, & guitar & keyboards that I've never heard before & some backup vocals that I didn't even know existed! Awesome set!
Have it preordered and can't wait. The 87 album is my favorite, then the Bad to the Bone and Forever More. Doug Aldrich did you justice Mr. Coverdale. I miss him in the band. Doug is my favorite all time guitarist.
loved this when it came out,I always wanted to play bass like neil murray and loved john from thin lizzy and David from purple,so to summise I may just buy it.
I wish DC and sykes could sort things out, i'm a massive sykes fan, but sometimes you need to let the past go, at least have a sit down like human being's and talk it out, DC is not perfect and has made mistakes like all of us, so guys come on its 2019 lifes to short.
I've still got my original lp of this album, but I've always wanted to know why here I go again wasn't included but yet it was on the sleeve track list as track 5.
welp!!...you sold me since I just ordered my copy of this box set from amazon!!!....looks great and can not wait to crank it up!!!....p.s. your a damn good salesman as well!!!! hahahaaa!!!!
I noticed that but I do not think he misses John as a person, he misses John's songwriting talent because lets face since 1987 Whitesnake had record with Vanderberg and Vai and that is it...
@Bartosz B Since then David had the great Coverdale/Page album and also check out Good to be Bad and Forevermore.. Great albums.. and we wait next year his new WS adventure
When Deep Pimples advertised in Melody Maker (ask your dad) for a new singer to replace Ian Gillan, Mr Covernote answered their advert by sending in a cassette (ask her dad again) of himself singing and a photograph of himself in his school uniform. He would have been about 26 back then.
One of the biggest tragedies is the fact that the recording line-up never toured. I can't remember, if I ever knew, why John Sykes in particular didn't stay. I'm sure someone on here will enlighten me/us. I loved the album when it came out and don't think anything since has really matched it from Whitesnake.

David Coverdale should do audio books, he has a very pleasant voice
Yeah, that'd be cool
I’m saying!!! He could do radio or something. It really is so soothing
👍👍👍🇦🇷
Yes, because composing Sykes rules.
His speaking voice is perfect..when he sings it sounds like he has cotton in his throat

The Roger Moore of rock/metal.

Very honest stuff David. Looking forward to receiving mine. Always thought the 87 cover was brilliant. Very simple, but striking and memorable.
John Sykes' Blue Murder is well worth a listen to also..
Also the direction Whitesnake should have taken.
Yesss! I own the vinyl! Great songs.
It's a masterpiece

Dave could read the telephone directory and still be interesting.
John sykes became a respected guitar virtuoso because of this album
The 1987 album is one of my favorites(the other favorite is "Lovehunter" from 1979) this deluxe box would be cool to get for the demos alone.
Shout out John Sykes, never given enough credit!
I wish DC and sykes could sort things out, i'm a massive sykes fan, but sometimes you need to let the past go, at least have a sit down like human being's and talk it out, DC is not perfect and has made mistakes like all of us, so guys come on its 2019 lifes to short.

The only other legend who can promote himself like this is Paul McCartney. Call it ego or whatever, but they know how to do it.
I want a love Hunter deluxe box
