This is the first YT channel I ever subscribed to. I was so impressed by the early videos I used to let them run on auto-play when I left the house just to try to run up the playtime for the channel's metrics.
It's really cool that they're able to build these down the regular F-150 line. I love that you guys seek out technical support from manufacturers. It's what really sets you apart from the rest.
I truly wish Savagegeese becomes one of the most recognized car reviewers someday. Love your videos. Just enough content to cover a vehicle in-depth while having fun elements.
I mean this with all respect. I wish they would talk about more features on the car. I don't mean go as crazy as Doug. But it feels like they barely talk about the interior for some cars. Just my opinion. I love this channel.
2017 RAM Rebel driver here - I said it when the TRX came out. Dodge was playing a numbers game to try and compete with a 10 year production experience lead. +5% on all the numbers compared to the Gen 2 and then throw in a huge engine. That gave them a lot of talking points but at the end of the day the Raptor is still in a class of it own. Hopefully the TRX will continue to be made and refined into a better machine to close that gap. Competition is a great thing.
And with the v8s on its way out TRX will have to go with sumthin less maybe boost on the hemi with mild hybrid piggyback or go with Fords way of the v6..the hurricane 🌀 engine 😐
EPIC opening And the research segments with engineers and designers really put these autos into a certain context that help us understand what companies were trying to achieve.
I actually never knew about just all of the technical differences with this new generation. Makes me really appreciate this truck way more now! Great review!
Coming from a former Raptor hater, this truck is awesome. I just purchased the 3.5 with the 35 tire package and honestly couldn't be happier. I daily drive mine, so I saw no need for the V-8. Also , didn't see the point in the 37 package. Truck has ample power and with the redesigned exhaust actually sounds good. Only negative I can think of is the greedy California dealers mark up of 20,000$ I ended up fly and drive to get a price I was ok with. With the greedfest and anywhere from 50 to 75,000 markup on the R, I would go for the 3.5 all day long.
My buddy used to have a 2017, sending that thing flat out at the Black Rock Desert NV…. It’s a pure giggle factory. Just a hilarious, stupid truck. Love it. The new one looks great.
Getting rid of the unequal length exhaust pipes was a good move for the Raptor. It actually sounds like a performance-oriented truck rather than a piece of farm equipment.
But isn't that actually removing some of the brand identity?... I thought a lot of the appreciation for the F-Series came from people literally using them as work trucks and / or farm equipment. Not asking this as a joke, just purely marketing curiosity.

Hell yea! My dream trucks as well, minus the Raptor. Don't get me wrong, the Raptor is a badass truck, I've just never really lusted over them the way I do the Ram SRT-10 or Cyclone. I'd go with the TRX if money wasn't a factor. However, I'll have to wait and see what the Raptor R offers before writing it off.

I almost bought a new one in 2020 for $100k (Canadian). Ended up getting a gently lifted Ram 1500 Laramie Sport with $10k in after market for $75k. Love the Ram. There is still something about the Raptor that just keeps calling out to me.
@@pumpkin1escobar true. I have had F150s and Rams. Prefer the Ram in a lot of ways. The $25k difference was too much at the time. New Raptor is $45k more than the Ram now. Literally $125k at dealer (Canadian but still....)

For months I deliberated between the TRX and a fully loaded Raptor with the 37 package. After an excruciating driving and comparison, I canceled my TRX order and went with the Raptor 37. Couldn’t be happier. TRX is a one trick pony, it drives like a muscle car and plows around, the Raptor was way more sorted and compliant on and off payment. At the end of the day…it was the better all around truck.
Does the TRX really drive like a muscle car though? It's ET's are in the same league as 300-350hp turbo 4cyl cars like Civic Type R's & Focus RS's which is a fun but not impressive amount of acceleration IMO. Producing power on a dyno is useless if you can't produce the acceleration and guy's will say yeah but it's a truck and that's the problem you can't fight physics. When I bought my Raptor TRX's were going for $13k more and the fuel costs difference of a Raptor vs a TRX over 150k miles is another $22k. So given than I do like fast vehicles I figured I'd be better served by putting that $35k savings towards a 2nd vehicle that's actually fast and wound up with a 19 2nd gen Raptor and a C7 Z06.
Description mentioned it, but would love to see a more direct comparison of the newest super truck offerings. Think im ready to go back to trucks after getting bored in fast cars since i don't have good options to do any track days but plenty of offroad.
The issue with the TRX and I've said this since day 1, is that they made the TRX as bat shit crazy as the hellcat's back in 2015. Over the top, impractical, but just stupid amounts of fun. If ram was serious with the trx, it would of started with a 392 srt engine for a base engine (or even the 395 hp 5.7) and they would of had more tiers of TRX. But the TRX is still based on the ram 1500, heavily, and has all the same issues as the regular 1500, including being the heaviest half ton, the engines being very old in design, and all the wrong focus. The raptor just takes everything ford has done right with the f150 and just runs with it. (except the exhaust I'll get to that) The truck is lighter overall, the powerplant makes more sense, the smaller engine means less cooling which means even less weight. Just so many things in the raptor make more sense than they do in the TRX. I am curious how the ZR2 silverado compares if it's ever released, which should hopefully happen in a few months. Side note, engine note coming out of this thing is just... wrong. Like at the start it sounded like a european sports car and I was like "this is a joke right, this doesn't actually sound like that right" and then the next scene came on and sure enough it was the raptor. That sound coming from this truck makes me wanna puke.

I’ve desired just three trucks over my 35+ years: GMC Cyclone, Dodge Ram SRT-10 reg. cab, and now this one. What serendipity, one of each.

Has been waiting since last September for my black Raptor, still not in production yet. I owned a first gen 6.2 Raptor, it was the best truck ever.
