Thanks for the video. Haven't read all the comments, but I wanted to share some troubleshooting I just went through. I was able to download the SmartLink app and update the V2 programmer without any issues... however, the app would lock up as soon as I connected the programmer to the ESC and turned the car on. The problem turned out to be that the .zip file has to be extracted to the Desktop of your PC, and won't work if it's extracted anywhere else, like a specifically named folder or the Downloads folder, etc. So, if anybody has their SmartLink app locking up without any warning, try re-extracting the SmartLink app .zip file directly to the Desktop. Also, FYI, my Kraton V2.5 I just received was already on the latest firmware version of B5.12.

Hey buddy , Yeah i think the LVC is set way to high on these trucks , I understand why Arrma has done this but many wont get that . As far as upgrading the firmware you can not do it with a hobbywing card . You'll be able to change the settings , but the improvements in firmware will be unavailable . Hope this makes sense . If you guys are having trouble with run times being too short ..LVC kicks in early is because AARMA models from box are extremely tight, their drivetrains are bound up and need some digging into..my vendetta struggled to hit 55 from box, shaved material from the diff casing. Ceramic bearings in motor and chassis and 130a esc on stock motor 4s battery 117mph PB now
This was great info! Thanks. I hope this works with the non stealth 120a esc that came in the Mojave 4s. I received a warranty replacement and just ordered the program card in hopes I can adjust the LVC settings. Here's to hoping it works! 😉👍 Edit: if it's OK with you I'd like to share this video on arrma forum where this question has not really been answered.

You can change the LVC settings without the program box by using the set button on the ESC. It worked perfectly for me and installed of 10 minutes I got around 22 with my Gens Ace 5000mah 50c Lipo!

@@ChriswithaCrc definitely a good idea to get one. I emailed Horizon and they claimed that the truck should only get 6-15 minutes of run time. That was before I changed it. Rec'd my Spektrum V2 yesterday. Had to upgrade the firmware on the programmer. My computer skills are minimal, but I managed to fumble through it. Something about Zip files and extracting them??? BUT, I did not check the ESC for the latest firmware. Will attempt that later today.🤞
Hey buddy , seems like this video dropped at the right time for you . Yes you ideally need to exact them to a folder and then run the exe file to open the software .
@@ChriswithaCrc Went back to the computer c/w the Spektrum V2 programmer (with the latest firmware PB-1.0.23 installed) and my Kraton 4s V2.5, followed your video tutorial to the letter, and was able to update the ESC as well with the latest firmware (B5.09). Thanks for the heads up, Chris. Keep up the good work...
I just got me a kraton 4s v2.5 and noticed this on my first run. It went in to low voltage very fast. In the manual it shows you how to adjust these settings without the programmer device. You can just hit the set button on the esc to change it. I set mine from setting 4 down one notch to setting 3 so we will see if that helps. Thanks for the video!

Yes they did buddy , it’s a shame that they let them out of the factory in this condition that you have to find the issue and spend money on ways of upgrading the firmware . In this day and age surely Bluetooth app and over the air updates lien phones should be a thing . Quite honestly if Traxxas can do it why can’t arrma hey ? Stay awesome Chris 🤙🤛🤜👊🚀🛞🔥🔥🔥
Just a note I am still on Windows 10 and had a problem updating the programmer I did not have a rar file extractor I had to download a free program WinRar to open it so if anyone has a problem opening the software try that. Funny thing is the non stealth esc is exactly the same once you do this update that is what Horizon sent me when my button fell off anyone that has the orange and silver 120 amp its all the same and thats right from them so yeah once I updated all the new features were there. Like I said before the low voltage is set kind of high I think this will work for you now,
Hey there buddy , Yes on windows 10 you will have to run WInrar to extract the file i believe its built in to windows 11 . Yes i agree 3.6v LVC is way to high it triggers the ESC when you still have plenty of run time in the batteries . Weird that they sent you the Older ESC on what truck did you have it dont mind me asking ? As the new Stealth ESC v2 only come on the kraton v2.5 , outcast v2.5 and Mojave 4s . Look forward to hearing from you Stay awesome Chris :)
@ChriswithaCrc its on the new v2.5 Kraton. I thought they sent the wrong one because it didn't have all the punch settings and other stuff. They said its the same esc just a different color and they were right I did the update and there was all the settings. Luckily I dont care about color and had the programmer. The 6s Big Rock and Kraton as well as the 8s have the newer versions of the esc as wellnof course they are larger lol. The Big Rock had the brake glitch issue I wonder if it was not across the board with these thats why there is an update. If you watch on the remote the power draw accelerating it dips down a good bit so thats why I think when the current would drop it would trigger the low voltage cut. It was definitely set to high on all of these I found out on my Big Rock it would just shut down still had 40 percent or more left.
Chris I purchased the Mojave 4s seen as the esc now is the black and silver one I was gonna upgrade the fireteam but thought this would be awesome My good health lipos shit down on me about less than 10mins into a run Come to check the lipos and they were both 4s packs at like 3.7/8 per cell I was well upset as they didn’t even run that long at all Come home and the esc card I have wants updates to even try and. Change the lvc settings from stock Now I’m unable to know if I need a firmware update
Hey, sorry to hear about the lipo issues-definitely frustrating when they cut out like that! The Mojave 4S is a solid choice, though, so once you get the power sorted, I’m sure you’ll love it. As for the ESC, it sounds like the low-voltage cutoff (LVC) might be tripping a little early if your cells are around 3.7/8V per cell after just 10 minutes. If your ESC card is asking for an update, it’s possible the firmware might need it before you can adjust the settings. I’d check if the manufacturer has a firmware update tool online. You should also double-check the lipo health just in case the packs are getting weak. It might be worth trying another pair to rule that out. I will say the card needs updating first , then update the ESC that worked great for me . Hope you get it all sorted! Let me know how it goes or if you need more help.
@@ChriswithaCrc hello Chris Last night my bro and I did manage to update the programme card tho the esc said is was up to date I guess as there was no available update for it as it sits this afternoon now here it’s on B5.12 and data base version of 12-11-2023 Soo who knows what’s up

I have the same problem with my Kraton 4s v2.5 the low cut off voltage always kick on after 5 min. I buy the digital card from hobbywing but I was not able to adjust the lvc. I was finally able to adjust the lvc with 10$ hobbywing card. Since that I never have problem.
Here for the comments. Hoping for an update confirming the ESC firmware update resolves this issue. I have noticed what I thought was LVC on a relatively fresh pack. Would be awesome if this update fixes it!
Hey buddy I would definitely recommend updating the firmware and then the LVC settings , you need to update the program box then update the firmware on the esc . Made hell of a difference for me . Hope this helps buddy Chris 🤙🚀🤘😎🛞
Chris, I updated my program box v2. But I did not keep it connected to the laptop, to the v2, and into the EDC. All my settings are now changeable, but did I do it wrong, by not keeping the computer connected to the v2 and ESC? Does keeping it all connected upgrade something different in the EDC? Confused😢
Keep it connected to the computer when updating the firmware,, any other time you can connect it directly to a powered esc,, it's just an option to upgrade and change the settings when the esc is out of the car and there's no battery connection
Hey buddy , I feel it’s worth it in my opinion as all the Arrma trucks use Spektrum esc and are firmware upgradable . Plus can us as a battery checker when your out and about Chris 🤙🤘🚀👊🔥
Great video Chris! I’m having problems with my Kraton too and having recently just got an outcast I wonder how long it will be un till that starts to play up.? I think it’s a shame that people have to go through this hassle, if I was to return my esc under warranty will it only be a matter of time un till it needs updating again? I was considering a max 8 combo for them both, but by the time I’ve done that I should have just got 6s models. Very disappointing because I love both these trucks when there working properly.
Hey buddy , firstly thanks so much for the kind words and comment , Sorry to hear that you’re having problems with your Kraton as well . As I said I would most definitely have a go and see if your truck needs an update and then lower your LVC as it does seem they have set it rather high out of the factory . I believe arrma rushed the programming of the escs this time around as you might have noticed even down to the Krayton they staggered the colour release here in the UK for example the red and black came out first then the green , then the outcast release was after so it’s quite possible that the outcast is running different firmware. The public that bought the truck and don’t like ourselves delve deeper in to tuning and just ran them will not know . As you say though if you fit a max 8 combo yes this pushes the trucks in to 6s price range ! Having said that there also with problems mind . Stay awesome Chris 🤙
I'm having this issue, on 4 of my 5 runs, different battery packs, LVC even kicked in at about storage voltage twice. This must be a Filmware issue...level 4 is 3.5v but mine are cutting off at 3.8v
Hey buddy , Yeah the firmware update sure has helped with mine , Once you have set your LVC are you saving it ? Look forward to hearing from you Stay awesome Chris :)
Hi Chris. Thanks for your video but I'm having problems when trying to update my mojave's esc. I followed all the steps. I was able to update my spektrum v2 card but when I try to do the same with the esc, the spektrum usb link page frozes. I make sure all cables are set up right and the ESC tab is selected on the S. USB link. The Connection Status with the ESC Speed Controler gets its green light but that's all I get. No option to get the firmware upgrade and all tabs on the screen get unresponsive. The programmer card works fine on the mojaves esc. I can change all parameters including the lvc. Any ideas why the program can't recognise my esc? Many thanks and congratulations for your channel!
First thing daniel is do you have the latest software installed ? Second are you opening the software firstly , then the program card and them connecting to the esc and turning the esc on ? If all the above is done . maybe uninstall the software then retry ? what about the program card on its own ( NOT CONNECTED TO PC ) does it read the esc in stand alone mode ? Look forward to hearing from you ChriswithaC Ps thanks so much for the kind words buddy ;)
Hi Chris. Thanks for your quick response. Yes, double checked everything. Lastest software version installed, program (deleted, install it again) and programmer card. Also followed the connection sequence and the card connects on its own to the Mojaves esc and operates correctly too. Very weird. Anyway thanks for your time again and have a nice weekend 👋
Just realised that after trying to do the esc update and having the screen frozen as soon as I disconnect the v2 card from the computer then the firmware upgrade tab is available showing the old B5.07 and the new available version B5.09. But as soon as I connect it again it just disappears and goes back to the main screen. It's like the software recognised the esc old version but for whatever reason would not let me update it.
@@ChriswithaCrc yeah I updated it yesterday after watching your video. It opened up more options that were not there before. One strange thing that I noticed was on the factory release it had BEC at 7.4 default and on this new firmware it has BEC as 6.0V default. Not sure the change but I switched it back to 7.4 and will hopefully get a run in today. Thanks for the videos man. Keep ‘em coming.
Ah nice man the K4 v2.5 at the moment is my favorite to drive awesome truck ! Yeah unfortunately the program card does not come with the truck its a separate purchase . Enjoy that truck buddy it's a corker ! Stay awesome Chris :)
Hey buddy , have you tried to update the firmware on the Vorteks ESC and then lower the LVC ( Low Voltage Cutoff ) . This will help massively , Remember no lower than 3.2 volts should be more than enough , Arrma has a habit of setting the LVC really high . Hope this helps Stay awesome Chris :)
I just got a brand new Mojave with a black esc and i have updated my V2 programmer successfully and it still wont let me adjust any any parameters it just says please updte software still. Any ideas??
When I connect my device to my computer it only says "horizon v2 PB-1.0.10" and it doesn't move. If I click any button on the device it then changes to "connecting esc" it won't say connecting PC? Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thank you
I tried a new USB cord and it did say connecting PC finally but the software wasn't recognizing it. Now when I try again with the good cable it's back to saying connecting esc. Idk what I'm doing wrong
I am actually having this problem with my kraton blx 6s ,full lipos and it's going into low power mode after a minute then I turn it off an on and it works again. It's really annoying , I'm sticking to team corally from now on , Arrma aren't that great
Hey buddy , What colour is your ESC dont mind me asking ? Black and Orange or Black and Grey , Also update and program the ESC has worked for so many . Also the batteries your using have you checked the cells to see if there holding a good resistance as if you have a cell thats down slighty it will trigger LVC . Chris :)
Hey buddy , I got to be honest with you I totally agree it’s not fair that the end user ends up footing the bill or being without there esc whilst a warranty replacement is sorted . You can’t blame the model shops either on this .
I actually had this exact same issue. I did update my box to the new firmware but it still will not load and just freezes the program just like you have said. I’m not sure what to do.
It didn't help mine. When I tried to connect it to the esc the program just freezes up 😢 edit: after reading comments I see you have install to desktop which I did and did everything but still no luck the ESC still goes into low voltage. 😢😢😢😢😢 arrma is sending me a new esc when they come off of backorder 😢😢
But you’ll never know if it was actually the firmware update , or the lvc setting . Should have changed the lvc setting on the old firmware first and do a test drive. Beceause if it is just the lvc setting being too high , you can easely fix that by cycling through the ecs menu manually . You dont need a programming card for that .
I updated the program box and the esc yesterday that’s when this video was recorded buddy . May I ask you have followed the steps I have ? It’s also worth reading through the PDF manual that comes with the program box . Look forward to hearing from you you Chris 🤙

no change from Horizon hobbies then. sell you a brand new car and expect you to spend another £30 on a program card. a card ill never use on any other model as who buys spektrum escs for there cars. what a joke

Don't get me wrong its nice to have a program card now for my spektrum ESCs and ive done a few friends with theirs as well . Stay awesome Chris :)
Actually I do..their esc’s and motors are dominant…my 4s vendetta on 130a esc and stock 3900kv motor is 117mph personal best in only 538’ …they can’t be perfect. I am currently having issues with my 130a too tho and can’t get it to unlock the new settings across the line for all the esc’s ..punch 1-9 now, and the timing etc should be unlocked and it isn’t..1.0.23 is the latest version for the V2 programmer and I have spoken to Horizon and they said they’re having a software glitch and some of the speed controls are not updating

I have the Hobbywing too , I guess the only thing you cannot do with it , is update the actual ESC ?
Hey buddy , Yeah i think the LVC is set way to high on these trucks , I understand why Arrma has done this but many wont get that .
As far as upgrading the firmware you can not do it with a hobbywing card .
You'll be able to change the settings , but the improvements in firmware will be unavailable .
Hope this makes sense .

If you guys are having trouble with run times being too short ..LVC kicks in early is because AARMA models from box are extremely tight, their drivetrains are bound up and need some digging into..my vendetta struggled to hit 55 from box, shaved material from the diff casing. Ceramic bearings in motor and chassis and 130a esc on stock motor 4s battery 117mph PB now
Did this actually fix the issue Chris? Just got my Kraton 4S and having the same issues?

This was great info! Thanks. I hope this works with the non stealth 120a esc that came in the Mojave 4s. I received a warranty replacement and just ordered the program card in hopes I can adjust the LVC settings. Here's to hoping it works! 😉👍

Setting the lvc with the set button, is this in the instruction manual you recieve with the truck?
Rec'd my Spektrum V2 yesterday. Had to upgrade the firmware on the programmer. My computer skills are minimal, but I managed to fumble through it. Something about Zip files and extracting them??? BUT, I did not check the ESC for the latest firmware. Will attempt that later today.🤞
Hey buddy , seems like this video dropped at the right time for you .
Yes you ideally need to exact them to a folder and then run the exe file to open the software .
@@ChriswithaCrc
Went back to the computer c/w the Spektrum V2 programmer (with the latest firmware PB-1.0.23 installed) and my Kraton 4s V2.5, followed your video tutorial to the letter, and was able to update the ESC as well with the latest firmware (B5.09).

Like I said before the low voltage is set kind of high I think this will work for you now,
Hey there buddy ,
Yes on windows 10 you will have to run WInrar to extract the file i believe its built in to windows 11 .
Look forward to hearing from you

Chris
I purchased the Mojave 4s seen as the esc now is the black and silver one
I was gonna upgrade the fireteam but thought this would be awesome
My good health lipos shit down on me about less than 10mins into a run
Come to check the lipos and they were both 4s packs at like 3.7/8 per cell I was well upset as they didn’t even run that long at all
Come home and the esc card I have wants updates to even try and. Change the lvc settings from stock
Now I’m unable to know if I need a firmware update

Hey buddy , firstly thanks so much for the kind words and comment ,
Sorry to hear that you’re having problems with your Kraton as well .

Look forward to hearing from you
ChriswithaC
Ps thanks so much for the kind words buddy ;)
Thats really strange indeed . Ill check it out to see if i can replicate it myself for you .
It appears the Mojave 4S has an upgrade to its firmware as well.
Sure does buddy , have you done yours ?

Has anyone tried to use this with the Arrma Groms? Apparently their LVC is set quite high too by default.
When I connect my device to my computer it only says "horizon v2 PB-1.0.10" and it doesn't move. If I click any button on the device it then changes to "connecting esc" it won't say connecting PC? Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thank you

Hey buddy , I got to be honest with you I totally agree it’s not fair that the end user ends up footing the bill or being without there esc whilst a warranty replacement is sorted .
You can’t blame the model shops either on this .
@ChriswithaCrc yea it's not the model shops fault it's arrma for not testing properly they make good rc's but should test better before releasing them

@@ChriswithaCrc yes I did all the same exact settings that you did.
Ah ok and what about updating the esc ?
But you’ll never know if it was actually the firmware update , or the lvc setting . Should have changed the lvc setting on the old firmware first and do a test drive.
Beceause if it is just the lvc setting being too high , you can easely fix that by cycling through the ecs menu manually . You dont need a programming card for that .
When did you do this? Whenever I connect it to my ESC the program freezes and I can’t update the firmware.
