I'd also make the argument that it's worth figuring out the layup timing without having the meter on from the beginning. It can be hard to try to track where the player released the ball in the actual animation and at the same time remember how the meter behaved. From what I could tell from the video, the green window corelates pretty well with when the layup is open. Basically, if what's going on on the court looks like it should be a good time to release the shot, like in real life, it should be a green release.
But of course, we'll have to see how it works in the actual game.
Definitely wasn't like that in 2k23. Different layups had different release points, and then different layup packages did too. If they make it all at the release point we are in business. Wang confirmed no meter on layups have green window boost
Bro you're right, you may not actually want to try to "green it" like a jumpshot every time. Might wanna release it early while the green window is still wide. That's smart af and a nice mechanic

If you think about it when the green meter shrinks during layups it’s basically showing you the time to go for a acrobatic switch up . 🤔🤔

idk everytime ive tried switch lays in 2k24 they get the same amount of contest. like my player will switch to the side of the board where the defender isnt guarding at all and it'll still be 100% smothered

What height
Just take the meter off at the very start. I’ve been using layup meter with the meter off since they’ve added it and it’s way easier to time them when you don’t have a meter distracting you since all animations have different timings. Just release just before you’re about to let the ball go but as it’s definitely still in your hands.
Yeah having the layup meter doesn't help at all lol, by the time I understand the speed at which it's filling up, the ball is already up lol
@@benjaminratthe9904 literally bro. With no meter you’ll see way less Red releases since you’re not splitting your attention with the animation and meter. Just the animation. Scoops and floaters with the meter on is just annoying as hell.
@@rellbandoo6572 Honestly even with jumpshots it doesn't help that much. Sometimes your player takes a bit to grab the ball so it goes slower. I'll just let go when my player lets go and call it a day lmao
this is y i took my meter off in 17 no meter is the wave only reason i miss my layups because i haven’t upgraded them i’m poor and can’t afford vc 🤷🏿♂️but even with my poor layups and close shots i still green a good amount of my layups

I don't even care what they buff or nerf, how the dribbling and speedboost looking, the only thing caught my eyes since 8/30 was the contest system, finally make sense
Another way to understand why it’s wideopen, the 3 green spots infront/under your player dictates wether there’s a contest. In the clips u showed, u can see the green spots turn red then go back green showing u if you’re getting contested or not. Really helpful for anyone tryna figure out if they’ve got an open shot with a defender who doesn’t use right stick (hands up).

Those layups where it said open even though dude jumped late is huge to me. If that happened in 2k23, you would’ve gotten a 23% contest
The moment 2k changes this contest system, it will break whatever balance exists between offense and defense as far as shots are concerned.

I made a build on 2k23 based off the badge requirements we just got so I’m ready to go as long as the way you put attributes up are the same on 2k24

How can you ever learn the timing if the green window adapts to the contest? It will always be different depending on the positioning of the defender , unless you can always shoot wide open layups in which mike said the whole bar is the green window .
The timing doesn’t change based on how contested u are the layup timing is based off of the animation so once u go up with the layup the timing won’t change mid animation only the green window will
@@JDMCSWAGGbro what? Yeah if the green window changes mid animation that changes the timing you have to release the stick… if it’s fully green at the start you can let go right away, say .2 seconds. If it’s contested and the green is only at the very top you gotta hold the stick and release at say 1.2 seconds. That’s a change in timing…
@@SaintJ92 the actual timing to get a full bar doesn’t change say u have it hold square for 1.2 seconds to get a full bar that’s never gonna change no matter how contested no uncontested the shot is

You get a higher green window when you're wide open or you're rushing the lane. If you are being can test you time to dunk or layup you get the additional 20% this is nothing new to me. I had it as my timing on but my Meter would be off.
