i think what alot of these huge youtuber creators/filmmakers on this platform lack in their travel content is the ability to tell a story and a true one of the places they visit. u got these dudes doing back flips and perched up on mountains looking cool, then you have what you create which i truly think is art. im not here to ask u a bunch of questions about equipment. i just want to say how much i admire your work. your ability to truly show the essence of a place and capture the beauty in it all is unreal. it feels raw yet the editing techniques add a new flare. well done Brandon!
Hi Brandon thanks for this beautifully created video. While I was in North India few years ago I have traveled to all those three places that you have mentioned. Whenever I think of the river Ganges and the city, Haridwar in specific, the first things that come to my mind is the Kumbh Mela. Kumbh Mela is a mass Hindu pilgrimages of faith in which Hindus gather to bathe in a sacred river Ganges. It is the world's largest religious gathering. It is held every third year at one of the four places by rotation: Haridwar, Allahabad (Prayag), Nasik and Ujjain. I would suggest you to making documentaries or videos of this pilgrims, devotees and the gathering. I bet it'll be one of the best. Regards!
You are a wonderful storyteller. No complicated dialogues, no induced/forced scenes, but just where the heart goes or your eyes go and you put them together so well. It is so inspiring. I don''t know if this type of skills are learned, I think natural talent. Maybe your parents read you million bed time stories
The way you compose your story through this perfect symbiosis of sound and image is truly outstanding. I really felt the intensity of the city and then the calm of the mountains, couldn't stop watching and that's how it's supposed to be. I really admire your work, great job!
I've watched this over and over and keep coming back to it. It's like a classic album, you notice something different every time. It's like a masterclass in everything for film making. Just epic!
The reason why Brandons films will always be jaw dropping is because of the sound design! The sound design is just underrated these days.. Brilliant brilliant work Brandon thank you for showing India so beautifully! Cheers..
Your work is truly inspirational. Many videos from peoples travels are cool looking and maybe have a few things that are interesting to see, however, your videos suck me into the world that you are capturing from beginning to end. When you don't want to blink in fear of missing something, that is when you know someones work is phenomenal. Cheers! ~ Gabriel
So glad you posted this to youtube, It deserves even more recognition than it already has. Beautifully shot and edited. I love the story it tells. Great work!
You're videos are amazing. Keeps me entertained throughout the whole video. Your sound effects, scene changes, transitions!!! All so amazing! Looking forward to more
It's so awesome, how you're able to capture a scene from the people living there and giving the viewer a unique perspective of their lives, that you get the fealing that you are inside the scene.
Thanks! I did a lot of hustling to get in close with people and off the tourist trail. Was a rewarding experience but also not entirely pleasant..this part of India is very poor and I spent most of the shoot with mild food poisoning.
these cinematic sequences are so breath taking. The emotions, the feelings that the movie brings out. it just makes me want too pack a bag and go see the world for myself. You're an incredible story teller and with no words at that. that was truly a sight... thank you for sharing Brendon wish you could make these more often. ☺
Editing techniques aside, what I dig about this is how you portray emotion and lifestyle through the people you shoot. Must be incredibly tough to get some of those people shots but the rewards are worth it. Out of curiosity, you obviously do a lot of client work, but how often do you get to do personal projects and can you find ways of merging the two?
Your storytelling genuinely entertains me. I think their religion is what keeps their spirit so alive throughout all the poverty. It really is sad to see though but it proves their resiliency is so strong. It's admirable. I think some filmmakers get caught up in finding something visually appealing that they forget to make any sense of it. It becomes a string of beautiful images with no substance. Thank you for not forgetting the story.
Watching your video has been a treat. To see our own country with such raw emotion through the eyes of a foreigner is just unbelievable. You have mastered the art. This video just got me hard. Keeping the amazing editing aside..just the thinking and the story your shots create is just unbelievable. I just cant say enough. Respect sir. Keep up the good work. Thankyou for this and Thankyou for visiting India.
Just discovered your videos, and you have seriously inspired me. I'm normally not into these kind of videos because I tend to find them boring, but your videos captivate me. The pacing, storytelling, etc is incredible, and I'm never bored. I've honestly never seen anything like this before. I didn't realize it was possible to create captivating video without dialogue. This is sort of like when I heard Skrillex for the first time. I was originally going to get a camera just for interviewing, but you've inspired me to try my hand at cinematic filmmaking. Will probably buy the A6500 as well. Anyways, thanks for posting all this great content, and keep up the great work!
I really admire your "eye" for capturing and creating art. Love the thinking and uniqueness behind every shot and edit. This is really rare these days for most youtubers in this type of "niche". (You have you're own niche. ) It's so refreshing to see "Travel" videos like this other then what mostly I see on RUclips: just recycling the same thing over and over (same Transitions, style, music...etc.) and copy off, and not inspired by, other filmmakers. Which is quite annoying. They simply avoid being crreative all together which is what I think is an essential trait for anybody aspiring to be a good filmmaker. I'm a huge fan.
as usual great Work Brandon and a clever concept & story, the cinematography is beautiful, the sound design is spot on, and the editing is a lesson in pacing and concision. Love it
This was the first trip I took specifically to make a short film. Before this I had just kind of filmed as I wandered around. So yeah it's kind of fun to look back and see the difference a couple years of practice makes.
I second CriticalAngle's comment, I just ordered my Zhiyun Crane yesterday based off a comment you left on one of your videos about someone asking whether to get the Zhiyun or the Beholder. Thanks for the great content/info!
Probably my favorite channel so far, i absolutely impressed by the way you portraying every image and the way you tell the story, but my main focus was in how well you manage to capture the audio or add audio to it, can you please explain your techniques?? I will be honored... thanks man!!
I've watched the "cinematic vlogs" by other people with the same gear, the pacing is nowhere near as good as this, the emotions you evoke by just cuts and sound. Damn man, I'm a fan :DD
Hey Brandon love how you speed up and suddenly slow down footage. That just looks so awesome. Would love if you could do a tutorial on the same in premier

Thanks man, really wish I got more comments like this and less people asking me what picture profile I use.
JR Alli yeah I am with you....Brandon conveys so much.... Hong Kong strong was/is so full on....
JR Alli couldn't add anything to it!
Spot on JR! - Brandon FWIW I subscribed because your videos are so moving. They are the vehicle to storytelling which is the real goal, right?
Absolutely

I think you are an Indian ....correct me if I am wrong
Q. What's the difference between a guy with a camera and an artist?
A. This.
You are a wonderful storyteller. No complicated dialogues, no induced/forced scenes, but just where the heart goes or your eyes go and you put them together so well. It is so inspiring. I don''t know if this type of skills are learned, I think natural talent. Maybe your parents read you million bed time stories

Incredible as always. I love how you respect the people you film and how you seem to always portray them in a honest way.
Awesome man, this film is one of my inspirations for becoming a nomadic film maker. Thanks Brandon.

If you can define ART by anything , it's this. True Inspiration!!
It's so awesome, how you're able to capture a scene from the people living there and giving the viewer a unique perspective of their lives, that you get the fealing that you are inside the scene.

IMO you are the best sound editor on YT. You really show how sounds can enhance and add texture to images. Love your vids man, keep up the great work!

My friend this is truly a thought provoking piece of cinematography!
stunning visuals, excellent soundtrack and a genius edit.
well done!
Absolutely exquisite. So well shot and, in particular, edited.
Love this. Without any voice every scene has magical sound to hear. Excellent work. B Li
One of the best short travel video's I've seen on RUclips, this is pure art. You captured the place you visited so good. Huge inspiration :)
This is such a visual and experiential treat!

It's just incredible brother....
I'm trolling your videos so hard. They are so good. The sound editing is out of this world. I feel like I'm there.
Such an amazing clip, congratulations my friend !

Very amtospheric! I enjoyed..
Oh my God man, amazing! All those sounds recorded with a camera microphone? Or you use an external recorder?
I quite have a short attention span. You're films are just so immersive that I always finish watching all of them.
lol! same!
Proud of this video. Bharat mata ki jai!
Beauty 😍!!
Perfect Brandon li👌🏻👌🏻
Dude your videos are unreal! I really aspire to make videos this high quality one day. Keep the amazing work coming!
Simply beautiful...great sight and sound!
love it man
Wow!!!! Ganga Power you just got it!!
Beautifully done! I don't agree with the hindu beliefs and the pain and poverty are hard to watch, but you made all this look so interesting.
Saw this on Vimeo, but I enjoyed watching it again👌🏽
I ignored RUclips for years so now I have a bunch of videos that will get a second life on this channel lol
Great advice Brandon, you're my new filmmaking guru! :-)
You videos from back then are great and show the root and style to much of your recent videos
This was the first trip I took specifically to make a short film. Before this I had just kind of filmed as I wandered around. So yeah it's kind of fun to look back and see the difference a couple years of practice makes.
Your work in incredible man! Very inspirational as a filmmaker!
WoW! Footage and sound system is superb!
Love your work Brandon. One of your videos convinced me to get the Zhiyun Crane. I can't wait to see the footage I'm going to get with it.
Shot this one without any stabilizer. Crane is great but a lot can be done with just a steady hand.
Even more impressive. Well done.
I second CriticalAngle's comment, I just ordered my Zhiyun Crane yesterday based off a comment you left on one of your videos about someone asking whether to get the Zhiyun or the Beholder. Thanks for the great content/info!
jayount yeah I was in the same boat looking at the beholder as well. Hope I made the right choice!
Wow..its the chef, not the oven which matters :)
Probably my favorite channel so far, i absolutely impressed by the way you portraying every image and the way you tell the story, but my main focus was in how well you manage to capture the audio or add audio to it, can you please explain your techniques?? I will be honored... thanks man!!
OMG what insane footage is this 😍
Awesome channel.
So glad I found this, been trying to get more into cinematography and your videos have helped a lot!
genius loci in Your movies never stops to amaze, great inspiration.
I've watched the "cinematic vlogs" by other people with the same gear, the pacing is nowhere near as good as this, the emotions you evoke by just cuts and sound. Damn man, I'm a fan :DD
Thanks, I wouldn't call this one a vlog though
May I ask, around 1:35, how did you get permission? Do you spend some time with them with a local guide or briefly asked for permission to shoot?
You are unbelievably talented!
This is unbelievable, poverty & homeless in a colorful way.
So cool. Watch this a 100 times.
Art masterpiece Brandon. I'm not afraid to call you artist instead of filmmaker.
This is good stuff Brandon !!
beautiful video makes me miss my country
That was so awe inspiring ! Wowww
Nice story...well done for your editing work, very appreciated
Hey Brandon love how you speed up and suddenly slow down footage. That just looks so awesome. Would love if you could do a tutorial on the same in premier
