Sevdaliza is completely independent and self-produces everything she's ever made. I'm so glad she's finally getting her flowers 🥲 I think you may love ISON, so ahead of its time.

•JOANNA captures the universal story of unrequited love,” Sevdaliza shares about the single. “It is a reflection of the unbearable suffering crawling into our lives in different shapes.
    • SHABRANG is about allowing yourself the melodrama of divinity to speak to someone who’s harmful. she comes to terms with the way in which a tie was severed, but still wonders why the resolution left the impact on her that it did.
    In •LAMP LADY
Sevdaliza depicts the idea of a woman selling tangerines who can’t help but reflect on what else life might have to offer her. Universally, light represents the idea of destiny and guidance. These lines incorporate the symbolism of an illuminated lamp guiding the woman down her destined path. As she sells tangerines, she’s distracted by the bright sun above her, which symbolizes her bright and ever-possible future
•ALL RIVERS AT ONCE revolves around pain and how it is necessary to build up a bright future. Sevdaliza regrets having built walls to not let the waters of the rivers flow (water represents pain) because now she has to be filled with water all at once to allow her growth and the achievement of a better future: all rivers at once.
•HABIBI(Arab. my dear) was about self-love and the cycle of getting to know yourself. Reaching the point of being at peace with who you are. It touches on the subject of mental illness. I think it’s very hard for people to navigate when they have tendencies to feel depressed or [have] bi-polarities. These layers inflict a lot of self-harm. “Habibi” is about healing and stopping that cycle.
•On “DORMANT,” Sevdaliza comes to terms with the imbalance plaguing her relationship. As Sevdaliza lowers her expectations for her lover, she realizes that their connection is not strong enough to persevere.
For something to be in a “dormant state” is to be in a state of inertia, rest, and inactivity.
•The term “WALLFLOWER” embodies an introverted person who separates themselves from the limelight - more specifically, the energetic crowds at a party.
•A stunning cover of Iranian singer-songwriter Googoosh’s “Gole Bee Goldoon.( flower without flower vase)
•Through intricate lyrics, “DARKEST HOUR” appears to revisit the journey of Adam and Eve, a Biblical story from the Book of Genesis.
•OH MY GOD- the song alludes to and reflects on the concurring tensions between the United States and Iran.
    • “EDEN” describes an unattainable utopia. Veiled in greed and desire, as well as a sense of necessity, the track sees Sevdaliza yearning to acquire the knowledge and roles that would propel her into an idyllic state of being.
•Fortified by Sevdaliza’s vocoded vocals and the track’s genre-bending electronic production, “HUMAN NATURE” delicately tackles the topic of humanity and its connection to Sevdaliza’s artistry.
•NO WAY- This part of the album (after Gole Bi Goldoon, which splits the album into two equal parts) is strictly related to the imagery of God under a Biblical view. On this track, particularly, Sevdaliza knows her and her partner’s relationship’s destiny: they’re going to part away.
•RHODE The title takes it name from the Rhodes piano, an electrical instrument recognized for its ability to produce atmospheric notes, as well as bluesier and more strident vibrato notes. “Rhode” stands out among Sevdaliza’s discography thanks to its immense overflow of production and jarring melody that defies the typical expectations of a Rhodes piano piece
•COMET Describes a lover with the use of a comet metaphor. He’s full of sun and light. He’s to much for her and yet never enough. It’s a fading relationship. Like a comet at first it was too bright and too much for her to handle but now everything’s faded and not enough.

pretty sure I remember reading somewhere that the cover represents embracing the things about you that you don't like and learning to love yourself/overcome trauma (that's what the bruised eye represents). Also oh my god sounded familiar because there's a remix (best version) on the raving dahlia ep. All of her most recent singles are much more upbeat btw, this album is probably her most vulnerable. oh my god remix music video and rhode music video are incredible btw.

The title Shabrang takes it name from ancient Persian mythology. Shabrang (شبرنگ), which roughly translates to “night-colored,” was the name of the mighty black horse from an 11th century epic poem. According to the poem, Shabrang led Iranian Prince Siyâvush through a mountain of fire in order to prove his innocence against false accusations of his violence. The cover art evokes a strong representation of the poem and its influence on the album’s story.

At the end of the song "Darkest Hour" she mentions an old saying in persian language, "شب دراز است و قلندر بیدار" english translate: "The night is long and Qalandar is awake" which means that there is and will be enough time for you to do what your suppose to do in life so be patient and don't rush things up.

    "Gole Bi Goldoon"
    English translation:
    "Flower Without a Flower Pot"
    [Refrain]
You said, "I am nothing without you
    Stay with me forever
If you aren't here, I will die
There cannot be a flower without a flower pot"
    [Chorus]
    What a mistake I made
    I believed your words
    What a mistake I made
    I believed your words
    [Bridge]
    One cold Autumn day
    Your broke your flower pot
    Like the bride of flowers
    You sat in the flower-house
    Spring comes again
    They bring you again
    Like a flower
    They sit in the flower-house
    [Refrain]
You continue to tell your flower pot
    "Be with me forever"
You say, "I will die without you
There cannot be a flower without a flower pot"
    [Chorus]
    What a mistake I made
    I believed your words
    What a mistake I made
    I believed your words
    [Refrain]
You said, "I am nothing without you
    Stay with me forever
If you aren't here, I will die
There cannot be a flower without a flower pot"
    [Chorus]
    What a mistake I made
    I believed your words
    What a mistake I made
    I believed your words
    [Chorus]
    What a mistake I made
    I believed your words
