- The first single issued from Boz's now classic "Silk Degrees" was "It's Over", spending three weeks on the Hot100 and peaking at a disappointing #38. Then came "Lowdown" in the late summer of 76, a downtempo R&B tune that seemed to encapsulate the general mood after the huge celebrations for the American Bicentennial and it got all the way to #3 and spent 15 weeks on the chart. "Georgia" was the last single issued and did not chart at all.
The fourth single was issued in the spring of 1977, a joyous romp called "Lido Shuffle" that spent 12 weeks on the chart and peaked at #11. It was written by Boz along with David Paich as a shuffle and was inspired by Fats Domino's "The Fat Man". Boz says that song "had a kind of driving shuffle beat that I used to play on the piano, and I just started kind of singing along with it. Then I showed it to David Paich and he helped me fill it out. It ended up being "Lido Shuffle"."
David Hungate played bass, Jeff Porcaro was on drums and David Paich did keyboards including those anthemic synthesizers that blasted the song into the stratosphere. Those three were session players who ended up forming Toto with a few other additions.
Great song, Great time to be single. 1976, I was a 21 year old United States Marine at Camp LeJeune North Carolina.
Still single... and still rocking the boat.... 😂
@@erroljoe I hear ya...Rock On

Oh what a wonderful song of my childhood "Lido Shuffle" was just 11yrs old. This came out very nice by the way 👌
👊😎👍
I was 9. Love him, sounds sooo good!
I was 4 and I believe this was in the summer of 1974 that I recall. They did play it later a few years after when I entered 1st grade. I'm just a kid compared to you guys. 😁
I was 10. It was on the radio and juke box at the restaurant across the street. I even loved it then
Me too!!!
"Lido Shuffle" by Boz Scaggs.
DEBUT DATE: Saturday, March 12, 1977.
FIRST APPEARANCE DATE: Saturday, March 19, 1977.
One of my favorite artistes of all time. I first heard 'What Can I Say' when my local west midlands radio DJ Les Ross played it introducing Boz as " Big Bad Boz Scaggs " and has they say, the rest is history......every album, but never seen the great guy live, its on a bucket list for next year, as long has Rona says its OK.... I chose Lido Shuffle as my dart walk on song when I played my first county dart match, memories....Great job yet again DJ Disco Cat.
You will not be disappointed when you see the Boz live, he still kills it!
BRMB radio!!great memories there mate👍👍

This song takes me back immediately!
I didn't even have to see what song. Just that it was DjDiscocat and Boz
Same. 😎
Lucas...indeed! One for the road!!
Şöyle biraz daha 1978 ve 1979 yılları funk ve soul daha iyi olur bir de slow parçalar ship ahoy gibi pastime paradise ve epitaph gibi güzel parçalar daha iyi olur gibime geliyor
Yeah, I instantly liked the song, so as to be added to my favorites.
Hmmmmmmmm
I was 17 when this came out oh boy what good memories ty
Wow! Haven't heard this since I was a young teen. Thanks for the great memories, Cat!!
Boz Scaggs is one of my all time favorites and love his song It's Over. Thank you for the great song as I listen to it now.
Please, do "I'll do My Best" From Ritchie Family, with your talent would be great to listen!.
What a song! What a groove, Jeff Porcaro at his best...
Yes! It’s immediately exciting.
boz skaggs had some really cool stuff in the day. i always loved this song! i was a teen at the time, and loved how much energy and how upbeat this song is. nice arrangement as usual. make the magic last ❣️

My favourite song from Boz and its just got better 👍 great version 👍
Great work, thx 👍
Lovin' this! Was just on the edge of 16 and hangin with the older crowd. This was about the time dad's hair turned white rather quickly. 🙃
Another classic, thanks DJ
As a kid I always thought this was a Elton John song, did anyone else think so too?
@@billysmith9747 Not me...he sounds nothing like Elton John.
@@billysmith9747 I thought it was about my Uncle -- LEO -- who liked to say -- 'one more for the road' -- several times before leaving our house while imbibing barley pops
@@billysmith9747 yeah me too... when I was a kid I also used to think it was Elton John (sounds so much like him), until I heard it introduced on the radio as Box Scaggs (I think I was about 12 years old when I found out it wasn't Elton John)
Can't help but drum along with Porcaro @ the 4 minute mark -- appreciate all your work DiscoCat
Wonderful.............THANKS
I'm playing this at 200 decibels when I get the f@ outta Dodge in my camper van to live in...forever 🤔
However, via a bar, grab a handle off the top, then the casino...
LET IT ROLL!!!!
Love This Song!
Thank you DJ Disco Cat, for posting this song. I like this fast paced song from Box Scaggs. 1976, was definitely a great time concerning music.
Ever since Spotify recommended this song to me, it's been showing up all over my RUclips feed.
And I couldn't be happier. 😊
Jeff Porcaro on the skins. Legend
It was a tasty cookie AND a catchy tune! ;) (Gen Xers remember... :P )
Scaggs' best hit !!!!!!!!
Nothing like a good taste of Boz Scaggs. Bet you could have a great time with "Miss Sun" Extended it and add to it. I personally thought that that song could use more in the drum section. Give it a shot if you would please. 😎👍
I have one to ask if you wouldn't mind. Jazz is a huge challenge for adding to it. Come on. Give it a try 😎👍
Excellent job as always. When I saw this, I thought "Gee, I wonder if Lowdown was ever done". And there it was...7 years ago!! Keep up the great work; it is always appreciated!
Another tiptop blast from The Cat. Many thanks as always. Boz and Lido in 1976, I'm loving it. Boz and It All Went Down The Drain in 1997 and I'm in heartbreak city!
I love Boz Skaggs!
DJDisco cat we're going to have to get together one Friday night and throw a party for the U.S 🇺🇸 🥳 🎸 2,020.
Porcaro/Hungate rhythm section, legendary.
When Eagles NFL had Lito Sheppard and he made a play i startimg singing chorus to this song.this was in some local bars in vegas. Then i heard it on MNF when Eagles played bout year later. Youll never convince me i didnt started that little chant for Lito when he made plays. Than i heard it everywhere.😅
Love this ❤
This song is 100% 1970's. It's like a time machine that transports me back.
Cool song played it live
Missing our brother jeff pocaro!!!!!
Every time I started to play the song I'm like oh my goodness I've never heard this before but if I let it by a longer I was like oh yeah I heard this back in the day with a nice song my song to dance to I really appreciate the hearing it again
When are you going to play jimi Hendrix
Could have extended the synth solos instead of the hard edit, but still this is better than the one that I've always wanted to do but haven't.
One Of The Best Albums Ever!!
Brother Boz!!
“LIDO MISSED THE BOAT THAT DAY HE LEFT THE SHACK BUT THAT WAS ALL HE MISSED, AND HE AINT COMING BACK”
FATS DOMINO IS THE SOURCE, AND HE GETS PROPER RESPECT IN THIS SONG! GREAT JOB, BOZ BABY!
Damn Im old. I had that exact 45.
💃💃💗😘
A bit of trivia, the flip of LS, WAA was a top 10 hit for R Coolidge!!
Right on...DJ
One more six pack for the road. 🤣🤣🤣
Ahhh great song❗
✳️🗽👙👠👠
💋🍭
boz else these power !
あの現場にbozもきてたとは!
I don’t know what language ol’ Boz is singing (it ain’t quite English), but it doesn’t matter. I don’t care! Lido rules!
Did you make this loop or something, or did boz scaggs really repeat the song 2.5 times?
Boz recorded the original single version then I used that to make a longer disco version
💃💃💃❤👑🌻😁👍👏
Lido Shuffle
Ok
I don't understand the dislikes. Must not be Boz Scaggs fans.
Must not even be music fans; just trolls. I can't count myself as a Scaggs fan, but I've always liked his material that had airplay. And how can you NOT like something that had Jeff Porcaro behind the kit, David Hungate on bass, and David Paich on keys?
boz what i was then some love why ?
Former guitar player for the Steve Miller band
Discocat...🐱
Middleman baby

Like Elton John ??

Meh.
Huge congrats on this 'Super extended version!'I have often looked for 'extended' versions of classic songs, and unfortunately...they have been pretty awful. You,Old Son/Girl? know what you are doing.I take my hat off to you.I know that you get requests,so here's mine...'Howzat' By Sherbert. One of the best from the 70's.
