I can actually picture both, but considering the way its legs are constructed, I’d say it would be most likely to use the doggy paddle.

It still amazing that the Empire wanted a weapon that could invade a water world. I mean, the Empire is a human majority species dominate the Galaxy, but they are still obsessed with the Conquest of Mon Cala.

Oceans are not just materials that can mined they are a great source of food.

Fun fact, this was actually conceived as some random capital ship in the Dark Empire comic series. The original concept art had something resembling a Nebulon frigate, with the spinal structure protruding from the back of this craft and connecting with the engine section at the far back.
I could’ve sworn that there isn’t any source material. Funny how they keep pulling stuff from these nonexistent comics.
The Spira comic is where most of the specs come from regarding cargo capacity, size and weaponry. Other than that, yeah theres like no source material on this.
It was sarcasm mainly because KK says this stuff is all in our heads. I really liked a lot of the designs that came out of the Dark Empire TPB. Always thought the world devastators were such great machines.

Always loved the WaveSkimmer ever since the Rogue Squadron N64 days.
It looks a bit strange for an Imperial design, but it is certainly... “cool”
I've always loved that design. What's crazy is a company's are designing vessels like that here recently the Proteus catamaran,. Same shape and look, but the pontoons are flexible so it moves with the waves. The area behind the cockpit is modular and can be lowered and putted around like a little boat. The idea is they would be perfect for search and rescue, good stability and maneuverability in rough water, plus the added visibility from being so high off the water.

I do very much enjoy how the Legends worlds and tech keeps on cropping up in the nu canon.

Interesting fact: we have something like this IRL. We have a hydrofoil type vehicle in the US Navy and we use it as a gunboat.

Wow I actually never heard of this vehicle before; the unique water naval ships I know are the Trade Federation aircraft carriers and battleships.
Theres also the AT-AT swimmer for actual AT-AT water adventures.
Sweet. There isn't much in the way of aquatic vehicles for Star Wars which is weird considering how many planets there are in the galaxy with significant ocean coverage.
Unlike the normal AT-AT, these things are halfway practical for their jobs.
I wouldn't call this the Empires answer to the AT-AT on watery worlds, that would be the Aquatic Terrain Assault Transport that you briefly mentioned. This was more of a fast-attack craft.
I'm pretty sure Rogue Squadron (N64) literally described them as being "based on the AT-AT frame".

neil murphy maybe the planet the yards are orbiting has some large lakes or oceans.. we have huge indoor test pools for small to mid size ships today so who says you can’t have it on the drive yards or on the planet

I've never liked when they develop some new vehicle, but it's just some variant on the ATAT or some other movie going craft with, like, it's legs cut off and so on.

Whoever gave the description for Speed in water is very wrong because you do not use standard miles or meters per second the accepted metric is knots per hour which is longer than a mile
One kinda has to wonder how there's ever a shortage of anything in Star Wars when we have mobile factories capable of churning out armies' worth of assault craft perhaps just minutes after first gathering the raw materials.

Damn it really fucks with me how my algorithm just promotes the most watched videos of channels, so I have to go thru the channels manually if I don't want to know about the goddamn mamdalorian people, I don't know how it came this far but I feel like I know more about the mandos then about the jedis, maybe it cuz ancient mandos did stuff like litteraly treating a defeated species to the people of them losing their sentience and revolving into primal states like on a genetic level, I hardly could name something that has a resemblance to something so gruesome
