      you may like it but god the thumbnail/title X broke me trend is so played out and cringe. this level of unoriginality nearly makes me block all future videos of someone's content as it signals the death of creating something and filming it. instead it shows that you prioritize whether something would do well on youtube over an interest in the creation.

    • @rockyhydra713
      @rockyhydra713 2 месяца назад

      @@kingkarlito I'd argue it aligns with the comedic approach he takes in the content though so it isn't as jarring. We know Joe isn't prioritizing the algo by the sheer effort and depth of the content itself.
      However, if you want those things gone, I'd advise taking a look at the browser extension called "DeArrow".

    "it's hard to know how much data to put in the video when trying to tell an entertaining story"
    FWIW I think you have the balance for "main channel" videos spot on, there's enough detail I feel like I understand what you're doing but you don't get into the weeds. Putting deep dives in their own place and keeping these update vids snappy but informative works great

    10:00 Machinist here again: dont beat yourself up over your 3D Printed steady rest. It was perfect for its intended purpose. The lubricated tape was a nice touch. Here is a fun fact that harks back to my other post: if you have a big heavy part on a big heavy steady, the surface of the part can be damaged by the steady if its not REALLY well lubricated. Ideally you have roller bearings, but if you only have brass pads, you can jerry rig a nice lubricated surface using...... EMERY TAPE! (I kid you not). you turn it inside out, clamp one end in the top hinged bit at the front, and run the tape around the job and under the three points of the rest (INSIDE OUT - its worth repeating), squirt it with a heap of oil can oil, and Bob's your uncle. Using a finer grit tape is preferable.

    Man, you prompted a deep memory with the mixers. My first job when I was 14 was working in a kitchen at a hotel restaurant complex from like 4AM to noon on the weekends. I made a lot of sheet cakes in the Hobart mixer, and whatever dick made the recipe had it almost perfectly fill the mixer bowl. So the initial mixing was an excruciating process of trying to not fling flour or water around the kitchen. Later I also worked at a pizza place and as waitstaff at hotel banquets, and I honestly partly got into rockets just so that I'd never have to work in food service again.

    • @BPSspace
      @BPSspace  2 месяца назад +129

      Luckily with flour flinging everywhere it's just annoying, and doesn't distribute a ton of oxidizer into the air! I never did any food service with mixers but I did make ice cream and sing for tips for a while. Most food service jobs really put ya through it.

    im not sure if you see this but your steady rest could use some improvement. This is how we woodworkers build our own steady rests.
    Use a wooden frame and Skateboard wheels to build a steady rest, so it looks the same as the normal lathe one but with wheels instead of the copper/brass inserts. This way you dont need the lube or the thick layer of tape, although i´d recomend some for protection.
    Since its so cheap you can even use two for spin casting.

Also as an ESRA (Experimental Sounding Rocket Association) Lead official, and part of a 140 plus (international) college teams competition process, where Mentors are the heart of taking students from all walks of life and working towards amazing 10K and 30K altitude rocket and payload projects. Good Mentors will make sure you have the opportunity to exceed even their accomplishments but make sure Mother Nature and Father Physics are not angered in any way. This is the first video I’ve ever seen of this guy. Congrats to him for making an amazing video in my mind. Yet at the same time as a saxophone player I can’t get over the jazz in the background that he uses for cuts.

    sometimes people will check how much of a video is left because it is making them bored. In this channel, I do this because i don't want them to end. Awsome work!

    Awesome video Joe! Congratulations on a successful test of a BIG motor. If your construction skills are anything like your video editing skills then the Karman line is a no-brainer! Well done.

    Awesome work.. Very scientific approach even though you make it look "goofy"... incredible. Having watched first hand at Uni what turning graphite in a lathe does to a lathe turning cathodes, you are right to take it outside and have a sacrificial lathe. Fantastic procedures. Even if SpaceX offered you a job, you'd be bored with a limited scope!

    Just wanted to say: Love you dude, you are the best! I love your spirit and everything else about your projects and Videos. You are the one person who would get a patreon subscription from me. But as I'm only a student by now, I don't have the money, but I hope you are still around when I do!

    Dude that video was so good. I usually enjoy your content but it feels like you knocked it out of the park on this one with the presentation, pacing and editing.
    Congrats on the big progress on the big motor and kudos for not taking the gamble on the cracked liner. That’s how we know you are, in fact, not the Boeing RUclips channel.

    10:56 This happens in projects. I remember watching a video where these teens were entering a competition to build an rc submarine robot against MIT, and the circuits kept getting fried, so to make sure that the interior was kept dry, they bought a ton of tampons to absorb the moisture. Needless to say, that was very difficult for them to describe to the judges when they were asked how they designed the robot.
