Oh i can't wait! I think this is still my favorite Solo Spice Album. Geri was SUCH a great popstarin the late 90s and early 2000s on her own. Great videos and artwork to the album as well. She split the songs in white and red on the album, to go with the Schizo theme. You have to watch the Look At Me video, it was such a comeback and so clevery done to go with the lyrics and her image. My favorite Spice Girl.
Yeah its true! the artwork from the album is great! The white part has all the ballads and a "halo" above the letter O from Schizophonic , and the red part has the other song with more rhythm and "devil horns" above the letter O !!

Im glad you enjoyed this album on your first listen! Someones's Watching Over Me is so beautiful, one of my fave ones from her ever. His dad passed away some months before she joined the Spice Girls, they were so close and it was devastating for Geri. He was just a supporter and Geri wanted so bad to succeed and be famous. Therefore, its so sad that he wasnt here (at least physically) when she achieved all that HUGE success. So theres a particular adlib at the end of the song that is especially heartbreaking for me, and its "I wish that you can see me now"...
I often think of this album as the 'what could've been' 3rd Spice Girls album. There's definitely hints of previous SG songs like Too Much/Goodnight Kiss and Bag It Up/Who Do You Think You Are. Plus you can definitely tell how much influence she had in the groups discography overall. Check out the videos from this album. The 'Look At Me' video features one of the most iconic and also traumatic visuals for any Spice fan.

The best solo album is Victoria Open Your Eyes anyway, the most underrated Spice Girl made the best album, Open Your Eyes had more spice than the other solo ones

Geri is half spanish, her mom is 100% Spanish. Mom still has a strong spanish accent, so yeah the spanish influence on Spice Up Your Life and Viva Forever probably came from her. Viva Forever is mostly written by Geri as the producers stated many times. She also has a spanish rap on If You Can't Dance.

Geri was smart when doing this album, yes she had a lot of influence over the sound of the Spice Girls first two albums, but they had writers and producers that gave the songs something extra, especially Biffco. Geri made sure to have them on her album. For sure this sounds more like what a third Spice Girls could have been and not the Forever trash.

Mi Chico..was clearly giving you LIFE! The "b-sides" (CD single tracks) to the accompanying singles were exceptionally good - better than some of the album tracks.
One of my all time favorite albums. I think her b sides should have been on the album even though some of them are covers. G.A.Y. is still a banger. these boots are made for walking. Summertime. Live and let die. Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps and Very slowly. Check them out when if you get a chance.
“How can you feud with Mel B?” Well both have very strong personalities. When they were of good terms they were best friends, but when something was wrong, it was hell (according to the other 3 girls). Geri always had to walk the extra mile since she was the only one out of the 5 to not have singing or dancing background, but she compensated with her very vocal personality and vibe, she was outspoken and people and media made her the leader of the band. Mel B always wanted to be the leader in a way and for sure was very mean towards Geri during the 98 tour that caused Geri to leave earlier than expected.
The concept behind the title is that the album is dualistic (also had 2 covers): angelic and diabolic. All song all divided to those categories. So as a debut a lot of effort was put in the whole idea, I appreciate it a lot.

If you look at the information about the album cover.... the main cover she is wearing white depicting her goody shoes side while the alternate cover she was wearing a lingerie with the photo being filtered in red depicting her naughty side. Thats why it is also called Schizophonic.... because the album is split into good pop songs and cheeky pop songs.
Walkaway was defo her song about leaving the spice girls loads of this album could have been spice girls song lots of people say this was the 3rd spice girls album we never got clear that Geri was one of the main writers on the spice girls songs
Geri wrote this album alongside the guidance of George Michael (who she stayed with when she left the group). Walkaway was about leaving the Spice Girls. Make sure you watch her Brit Awards performance of Bag It Up. It's camp! 😁 Her album was slated a lot in the UK press at the time, particularly the song Sometime - although it was my favourite at the time. Mi Chico Latino is still the best song on the album. Although not the greatest singer, there's no doubting she was great with lyrics and a good pop song writer in her time.
In the Spice Girls, Victoria was the best for the lower tones, then Geri and Mel B. But still you can hear her a lot in several songs, on Spice up your life, Never give up…, Viva Forever, 2 become 1, she basically is the only one singing at different tones the chorus of If You Can’t Dance.
I think when u get to their sophomore albums u DEF should listen to Victoria’s cancelled sophomore album Open Your Eyes which she officially released 2 songs from. Please pretty please with a condom on top.
Schisophonic is the album I lik÷ coming back to. I still got the CD. Apart from the singles I always like Goodnight Kiss - it reminded me of Too Much and I liked You're in a Bubble - it reminded me of The Lady is a Vamp a bit. Bag it Up was mirroring Never Give Up On the Good Times. Obviously nowadays I like whole CD and also understanding the lyrics which came with time and language skills. HOWEVER, after watching this episode and listening to Walkaway again (its ending) it kinda makes me think of Robbie William's Angels song or sth else of his. BTW Geri and him had a love affair- but Geri's song might have been before Robbie's, I guess.

Tastes differ. I find her voice is alot more distinctive and has more character than Victoria's for example. And on her solo albums she does not talk, she sings. She improved alot. Bet people were not expecting her to do Life Me Up and Walkaway when she was in the Spice Girls on her own.

There was a poll in the Uk in 2010 which asked which Spice Girl they rank as the best singer and Geri came in at #3 behind Mel C and Emma and ahead of Mel B at #4 and Victoria at #5 so make of that what you will :)

The middle 8 in Look At Me is particularly embarrassing.
