    Approximately 35 years ago I had a red devil spawning in my 300 gallon tank. The parents were relatively young, ie, the male didn't
    have a nuchal hump. I had hundreds of fry and didn't know what to do as they kept growing. I ended up giving them away to local dealers as they grew but they were still all white. The male ended up ripping the mouth off the female before they could breed again
    and that was pretty much the end of the story as he would kill anything else in the tank. At any rate for the past 35 years I've frequently wondered what it would have been like to have kept a few fry until adulthood. Now I know. THANK YOU DARIUS !!!

    • @dwsdarius
      @dwsdarius  3 года назад +1

      Once they reach about 2-3 inches the parents will be ready to spawn again and they'll actually begin to fight the previous batch of fry to keep the new group safe. So around 2 inches they are good to go

      I had to take my red devil fry out at two months old because they were beginning to damage the dad's dorsal fin! About two or three at a time out of the group would just pick at his fin and it became irritated and red like it wanted to bleed, poor thing! The parents were so defensive of the babies and hated when I came near the tank. The had that "come at me bro" look on their faces.
