Hi I hope you get Back to me I have a Midas cichlid I got him on the 11th of August it is now 23rd of October he was about 1.5 inches when I got him and has remained that size in like 2 months this video leaves out my most important part pls help me thanks
That’s an awesome looking fish. & I love how ur able to keep em in a pond like that! I’ve never even imagined something like that possible w tropical fish even being cichlids. Never thou they could handle it.
Approximately 35 years ago I had a red devil spawning in my 300 gallon tank. The parents were relatively young, ie, the male didn't have a nuchal hump. I had hundreds of fry and didn't know what to do as they kept growing. I ended up giving them away to local dealers as they grew but they were still all white. The male ended up ripping the mouth off the female before they could breed again and that was pretty much the end of the story as he would kill anything else in the tank. At any rate for the past 35 years I've frequently wondered what it would have been like to have kept a few fry until adulthood. Now I know. THANK YOU DARIUS !!!

Then you run the risk of that red devil wiping your whole tank out, I have a male 20odd centimetres, had to put him in his own tank as he wasn't playing nice with anything.
Most central American cichlids are a good match given you have a large enough tank, fish like jack dempsey, jaguars, red tiger mota's, texas cichlid, veija, etc.
As always your videos inspire me! Wish I could’ve gotten one of those babies. 😔 And to think someone in my neck of the woods got rid of a gorgeous Midas cichlid named Lucy at a Petco near me! She a stunner! You take such impeccable care of your aquariums! 👏🏼 I see you got three haters!
That ended shortly after making this video and he killed one the peacock bass in the tank. I didn't do anything, it was just his personality that kept him calm as long as it did
@@dwsdarius i'm sorry for the peacock bass. If it's ok to ask, how did he end up died? Did your red devil kill it and it died immediately in the tank? Or it suffered a lot and died several times after? I'm asking bcz i'm having 11 red devil in my tank and must take precautions
@@MujahidAbdurrahim_65 The red devil just chased him and attacked him randomly one day and the bass died from injuries. It occurred in one day, when I came home and saw it I removed the bass into a different tank where he died shortly after
Fantastic video!! I just got my first Red Devil today!! What do you recommend in regards to fish food, the place I got him from told me normal fish flakes were sufficient but I had to do 2-3 punches a day… do you agree? I want to make sure I’m doing right by this big guy!
Wow !! How amazing ! I have some red devil babies about three months old, they’re now getting quite big, I would say about 15-20 survived. The parents don’t seem to mind them in the tank, my question is, do I need to get them out? How long can I keep them in the tank for ? Thanks in advance
Once they reach about 2-3 inches the parents will be ready to spawn again and they'll actually begin to fight the previous batch of fry to keep the new group safe. So around 2 inches they are good to go
I had to take my red devil fry out at two months old because they were beginning to damage the dad's dorsal fin! About two or three at a time out of the group would just pick at his fin and it became irritated and red like it wanted to bleed, poor thing! The parents were so defensive of the babies and hated when I came near the tank. The had that "come at me bro" look on their faces.
Hikari massivore delight, he nuchal hump really came with his dominance, get your fish to be high ranking in a tank with other cichlids and it'll get a nice one
Nice looking fish dude but it is a Midas cichlid, red devil cichlid have snout more pointed and longer than midas. But in personality they are almost the same anyway! Red devil cichlids used to be a little more aggressive but yours is still looking badass to me tho :')

Brother iam planning to buy red devil cichlid can u please tell me the male and female difference just looking by them . In shop they are at age nearly in 6 months roughly i think how can we guess male and female ? Mainly i need first male so please can u help me?
In a group males will usually be bigger than females, but 6 months is pretty young. Usually, they are a lot more distinguishable by the time they reach 5-6 inches
I ended up re homing them, but this video shows them before they were added to the pondruclips.net/video/lbSAgPv869A/видео.html and this is them in the pond: ruclips.net/video/rbJrqte_Z0I/видео.html
Keep on watching mine turn into this. I've thought male.since day 1. But I'm still skeptical. Fingers crossed. Had a male and he was my all time fav fish. Thick and mean. Had to relocate and give him up. But got another

With a lot of central and south American cichlids, you gotta be patient for them to get colorful. Honestly, it's so fun to see them transform.
It definitely if amazing
He’s the reason I watch your channel regularly!
Thanks, he's a beast!
What a beautiful beast! Your videos are always cool. Thanks for sharing his progression.

That fish is a stud!!! Who wouldn’t like that 👏🏼👏🏼🙌🏼🤙🏼
So cool seeing how the colors change as he ages.
Yes I actually kept him because he was white while he was young...then he went orange a few months later
That's amazing how you've kept all the footage and compiled a great video! I have one at 6", plan on keeping him forever.

so how often do red devils spawn
Once their first batch of fry is old enough to fend for themselves, they spawn again. I know breeders that can get 7-8 spawns a year
