Also, since I am newer to TLM, I can't stop talking about it and have invited several friends. I feel like the woman who lost her coin and when she found it again she invited her neighbors to celebrate!

My first Latin Mass was the Sunday after the Motu Proprio. I used an old Missal from the 50s that someone gave me after finding it in his grandfather's belongings after his death. I was lost but loved it. I have gone almost every Sunday since.

I stopped attending Mass on a regular basis for decades. However, it was on a feast day, dedicated to Our Lady, that I happened to stumble upon a beautiful, stirring and luminous, Latin Mass. The rite was so encompassing and deeply impressionable to all my senses, that it ushered me back into the Church. I site my personal redemptive return to the traditional Catholic Church, via the TLM. And that my friends, proved a mysterious, mystical, miracle in itself. God is good and great!

I live in Staten Island, NY and there is not a TLM in this borough although the priest here celebrates the NO reverently. I try to get into the Manhattan for a TLM once a month. The difference between the two masses is worlds apart, the liturgy, dress code, music, reverence, the smell of incense, real wax candles, confessions before mass. LOVE IT!

The Lord was calling me to the Latin Mass for so long and I was reticent to go with regularity. Thanks be to God we had a pandemic and I, as a daily communicant, became frantic when all the sacraments came to an end at my novus ordo parish. Thankfully my Latin Mass friends said, "If you want to receive Our Lord, go here..." and there I did go. I will never leave the Latin Mass, never, ever. Thank you Peter for all that you are doing to make this beautiful gift known and loved, may God bless you richly for your efforts, thank you, thank you.

I Must Tell You; I am 7th born of 10 children. And my Parents had a Second Conversion after my Father's Cousin had brought to them So Much Information About OUR LADY Of FATIMA! It Literally Changed Their Lives! They went from only having Two Children; to living totally for God and Having 10 Children! Not moving to Florida as My Dad Could Move With his job; as a City Fireman! They had Our House Enthroned and We Prayed The Family Rosary! I will Always Cherish The Memories of standing next to my Dad; who was 6'4"; at MASS; when I was very very young! My Father Never Accepted Vatican Two and ALL of The Changes in The Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass! I also quite fondly remember The May Procession and the Crowning of OUR LADY Celebration at Mass! I became My Father's Living Witness to All He Did So Fervently Believe was Taken Away and So Radically CHANGED IN THE MASS; by THE MODERNIST!!! As I would So Often Hear; GOD DOES NOT CHANGE; HE REMAINS THE SAME; YESTERDAY TODAY and TOMORROW!!! As I Entered Saint Anthony's High School. I was being taught; that The BIBLE Was Just a bunch of nice stories. They were not Really True; but we're told to kinda help explain our faith in story form!!!! I was getting headaches and would lay down after walking home from school! I really never fared well at school anyway! But This Was Causing me to have trouble with my nerves! EVERYTHING MY Dad Would Teach us after every Mass; we had the Traditional Sunday Bakery goods and Always Gather together. Our table was akin to The Last Supper painting my Mom did! And it hung on our dinning room wall. All 12 of us would gather round and listen to my Father's Talk on The Sunday Mass! NOW; Everything He Had taught me; was Now Suddenly being explained away as JUST NICE STORIES! It was originally very hard for my Parents to Believe that I was being so brutally beaten by my first grade nun. Whipped actually, until I had come home with very red welts on the backs of my legs. And wet socks from the Shock of The Yard stick whipping my bare little legs! I was the shyest child in my class; for year's! And just couldn't figure out why she insisted on beating me for one reason or another! Well; I eventually figured it out! But as is with life; Ever figuring things out! But Yes! I was born in February 1958! And I Would Also Just like to ADD; Now We Can Clearly See What The Real 3rd SECRET of FATIMA WAS! Pertaining to The SMOKE OF SATAN; ENTERING THE CHURCH BACK THEN! I at only 5 year's old, had a dream vision; I was taken at midnight; across from my Church; I so dearly Loved very young! And was watching rows of dark hooded men; all coming in double rows; down the side street and around the corner and right up into the Church! I was made to understand these particular men; were INFILTRATORS! Entering the Catholic TRUE CHURCH; SOLELY TO DO EXACTLY WHAT THEY HAVE Been Trying to do now FOR A LIFETIME of My finding out! As much later in my life; I was given a book; written by a Priest; who was just one of these many men the Lord had shown me that night. It was quite riveting to say the least! I had 4 Children by then; they are my life under My God! But This reading of this particular book; so angered the devil!!! That He has hated what I had found out so much. He had chased me; my entire life it seems! Even before I read it! But much more intently after, he hates THE TRUTH Being FOUND OUT! BUT OUR PROTECTIVE FATHER IS SO GOOD TO US! TRUST HIM and BELIEVE! BELIEVE IN THE MIGHTY POWER IN JUST THE BLESSING IN LATIN; when he tries to inflict anything on You! Amen! Extremely WONDERFUL TEACHING ABOUT THE TRUE SACRIFICE OF THE HOLY MASS! GOD IS A GOD OF RULES IN THIS LIFE! HE IS A GOD OF OBEDIENCE and ORDER! HE DOESN'T CHANGE! HE REMAINS THE SAME YESTERDAY TODAY and TOMORROW! AMEN!

My Latin missals (either the Baronius Press or Fr. Lessance) go with me when I attend a NO mass. I read the prayers before Mass and the ones specifically before receiving Communion. I will of course pay attention to the readings and homily and most definitely during the Consecration. Prior to lining up for Communion (in a state of grace of course, after going to confession) I’ll recite the confetior silently. After receiving and using my own words to pray, I’ll read prayers after Communion. Usually the music during these masses range from boring to cringe, but reading those short prayers helps me focus on conversing with the Lord instead of the fluff going on around me.

The TLM is beautiful and the prayers of the ancients are so needed today. The Mass is for and about GOD, not man, but the Novis Ordo just doesn't seem to get that point.... Even a Latin N. O. just doesn't work..... GOD help YOUR Church to heal and become unified in the Liturgy and Eucharist...................

"Given the choice..." Well, actually, there is no choice. The Modernist Anibale Bugnini, the primary author of the Novus Ordo, kept in his new creation the very minimum so that it could be defended as being valid, but even though the NO Mass might, perhaps, be valid, I must, Must, MUST not endanger my soul by attending at it.

    • @arthurdevain754
      @arthurdevain754 3 года назад +5

@juleous camper For the Mass to be valid the Sacrament, which is its purpose and central action, must also be confected validly. If the Sacrament is not valid, the Mass is not valid. What is required for valid confection of the Sacrament is a) a validly ordained Priest, b) valid matter (i.e. -- wheaten bread), c) valid form (proper words -- in this case the words Jesus spoke when He first consecrated the Sacrament), d) proper intention of the minister of the Sacrament. A fault in any one of these can mean that the bread does not, in fact, become the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, but remains only a piece of bread of little or no real value.

Great lecture. I've been attending Sunday TLM high mass for the last few months. Had to attend NO today at same church and same priest. I hate to say that mass was boring, but it was boring and it just felt weird. I can't believe I endured the NO for all my 49 years. The sung Our Father is about the most beautiful and there was no beautiful music. Most people stood before the kneelers for communion in the hand and there were a few of us women with veils who knelt and received on the tongue. It almost didn't seem like the same church, but it was a different crowd with a different feeling. I will keep going to TLM. I feel I've learned so much in these few short months. I was first confirmed in 2019 and my intention was not to remain stagnant. I'm so grateful the Holy Spirit has lead me to TLM. I probably wouldn't have even known about TLM if it weren't for the lockouts. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Thank you, Dr. Peter Kwasniewski. The very relevant insistence on stability, constancy, permanence, in a specifically (traditional) liturgical-ritual setting, is far more decisive than many are led to believe.
Hence the nefarious effects of the liturgical “reform” were multiplied by the liturgical revolutionaries imposing change after change, in a constant instability during the “Missa Normativa” (!) experimentations from 1963-1969.
By the promulgation of the Novus Ordo in 1969, Catholics were already dizzied with unstable liturgy, which is why so many find “the Eucharist” boring unless all sorts of anthropocentric entertainments take place.

The Latin Mass is a sacred work of art. When I first came back to Catholicism after many years away, I went to both NO and TLM. After awhile I realized that the TLM shared my values so I only went to the LM thereafter. These are good talks to introduce people. It is not HARD! to understand TLM. The missals make it easy. One thing I read recently is that those trying to deny the TLM are going up against God. Pope Gregory V set it in stone years ago and warned that anyone who changed it risked the rath of Peter and Paul, not to mention God.

He is so right about these things. Michael Davies said they tried to cut out everything that smacks of sacrifice, including the sacrificing priest. Just compare the Novus Ordo Confiteor with the traditional. Where is the sacrificing priest? He's not there. Watered down, just as he said, and much of it eliminated entirely.

    • there is more lay participation in the TLM than in the Novus Ordo Mass

Or…a “new” way of worshipping God? All I know is that since the 1960’s when the “new” Mass was introduced that the belief in the Eucharist has dropped significantly and the abandonment of the Catholic Faith is the fastest growing denomination…those are factual Truths!

A friend recently described the difference between the TLM and the NO as the difference between the Big Leagues and Triple A. I protested, saying that would be the difference if you compared the TLM to the Mass of Vatican II as prescribed. Priest facing East, Latin, etc... What we commonly have in the NO is not that, as our general experiences, and further, any waltz down the abuses chronicled on the internet will attest. With these in mind, I told him I thought the comparison would be more apt to compare the 1927 Yankees to The Bad News Bears.

Dr. Kwasniewski, since, as you so aptly point out, the differences between the NO and the Traditional Mass go to the root, and since the NO is "inspired by a false theology", how can it be said that the NO and the Traditional Mass are two forms of the same thing? And can the NO even be properly called a Mass?

    • @DrKwasniewski

@@DrKwasniewski I really appreciate what you wrote in the two references, thank you for those links! I'd very much appreciate what you think about this: In its 22nd Session, the Council of Trent dogmatically defined the Mass as the unbloody sacrifice of the Cross. As you've stated that "the Novus Ordo represents the first liturgy in the Church's history that repudiates an oblative offertory...etc". In addition, it's certain that the Novus Ordo was designed intentionally to incorporate the liturgical elements of Protestants who reject the sacrificial nature of the Mass. The Catechism of the Council of Trent distinguishes between Sacrifice and Sacrament. Following the principle of 'you don't receive because you don't ask', doesn't the explicit exclusion of the sacrificial nature of the Novus Ordo constitute an implicit denial of the sacrifice of the Mass and render it in its essence a "prayer service or paraliturgy with a consecration"? (To apply your terminology.) In other words, to be a Mass it must explicitly contain an invocation of the unbloody sacrifice of the Cross and since the Novus Ordo does not, it cannot properly be a Mass, regardless of what it is called - even by the highest authority.

One pasture is green and lush and healthy for the sheep, the other pasture is brown with a little bit of green, not as lush and healthy as the other pasture. For some reason the shepherd has locked us out of the healthy pasture and left us in the brownish low quality one. The only reason that makes any sense to me is that the true head shepherd is hardening us off, and slowing growth of new shoots, like a farmer hardening off his wheat in the fall before harvest.

Such earlier decisions come from the Council of Trent and some of the popes subsequent to that council.
Not that either the council of Trent nor any sound doctor would want the faithful ignorant of the prayers of the Holy Canon, it is just that the faithful following the priest at Mass was discouraged in the East by the Iconostasis and in the West by the Roodscreen and the entourage of the sanctuary.
It must be recalled also that the average American's perception of the Traditonal Mass is a relic of the persecution of Protestant England. Before Henry VIII virtually no such thing as "Low Mass" existed.
The idea of "praying the Mass with the priest" has led many to the mistaken notion that somehow his "participation" "adds" to the Mass. It cannot be argued but that the introduction of vernacular missals led to Pius XII's "dialog Mass" which led in turn to the Novus Ordo.
But don't get me wrong. This talk, and many others you give, are very informative and I quite agree with the vast majority of what you present. By all means keep up the good work. As for the rest I'm sure Our Lady and her Divine Spouse will work it out.

The liturgical calendar is a foundation for the ordering of life. Its cycle of fasts and feasts is continuous and overlapping. But Pius X somehow felt it overburdened modern man. He removed a dozen feasts and fasts claiming that men needed more time for labor and to plant.
Obviously, his legislation was tragic for Holy Mother Church. Good Grief, London has more bank holidays than Holy Mother Church ever had feastdays. So much for laboring and agriculture.

The "Faithful" "participate" in the Mass even less than the fans at a baseball game. Even the priest does not "participate" in the Mass (as such), any more than he could "participate" with Our Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross. (It is true that St Paul said we fill up in our own sufferings what is "lacking" in the sufferings of Christ, but this is an accidental, as distinguished from an essential participation.) Our Lord Jesus Christ is both Priest and Victim at Holy Mass, which is why the priest strives to suppress his own individuality and immerse himself in the rubrics.

Peter latin mass accompanied with a small choir is uplifting . Without the choir its a little voyeuristic. Although I do get a lot of praying done. . The calendar variation is criminal . The sermons are way Better in with the latin mass priests i believe the eucharist changes into the body of christ in the latin mass not the NO

This latest round of restrictions amounts to totally crushing the life out of the charitable and very knowledgeable Benedict XVI as well as being a blow to the wisdom of Sacred Tradition, casting both it and him aside. I'm afraid some of this, however, almost certainly may have been brought on by Trads increasingly going beyond objective analysis (the kind which Ratzinger / BVI admirably showed always) into constant tirades provoking Progressivist malice, instead of humbly and quietly laying low until the storm passes.

No, I disagree. There are very grave problems in the Catholic Church and the traditionalists are doing what needs to be done: diagnosing them and proposing remedies. And for this they are slammed by the corrupt prelates who benefit from those very problems.
