- Gender-neutral names were big in the 60s and they’re now making a comeback. Jimmy thought this might be a fun subject for our audience guessing game #PedestrianQuestion. We met some parents on Hollywood Blvd and based only on their introduction, tried to guess if their child had a gender-specific or a gender-neutral name.

Humans are respected merely because we are human. An individual may grow in terms of admiration or reverence, but make no mistake about it: respect is a human birthright. Pity, many people (especially Europeans and Americans of European descent in particular) don't understand this.
Other cultures have a deep respect for humanity---but somewhere along the way, the former group lost its way and has yet to catch up with the rest of the world. You'd think that the region of the world that embraced Christianity at fever pitch would've clung to this basic tenet of the faith---even after they rejected its Founder.
Anyway, to each his own; I respect my 6-year old student on the first day of class as well as my President. Neither has "earned" anything in my eyes which can be validated, yet deserve respect, IMO.

I’m a Tracy spelt with a “y.” Traditionally that’s the male spelling but overall Tracy is a unisex name, as is my middle name. Oddly, no one close to me calls me Tracy. I am “Trace” or “Tray” to friends and family. I used to try to write my name shortened as “Tra” but people would pronounce it like /tra/. So I am 1/3 Irish and began using the Irish spelling of my name to go by Tre, so people would properly pronounce it but especially to distinguish myself from a colleague who does the same type of work that I often professionally get confused with, so often we had a staff meeting where one of us had to agree to go by an alternate name moving forward and I volunteered as tribute. But as a result I am often misgendered as male. But no regrets. I love my name. Anglo Saxon- Tracy. Irish- Treasa or Treise meaning “brave” and “strength.” ☘️🇮🇪

The name is neutral because a good ammount of both genders have that name. Some examples are Jordan, Jayden, Blake etc.

My friend’s little cousins are named Boss and Chanel, after the brands. This family also has two cats named Gucci and Prada. But if you want to name your son Boss after Hugo Boss you could just name him Hugo, at least that’s my opinion. In the country we live in, Hugo is a pretty common name for the younger generation.

Why do they call it "gender neutral" when it is giving a girl a boy's name. You don't see it the other way around. Sophia is not considered gender neutral so why is Ryan. Just because you give it to a girl? Like what the hell makes a name gender neutral? It's so strange.
I think it's gender neutral as in commonly used for both genders. I don't know about you, but I don't think there are many boys named Sophia around.

Is the feminine version not pronounced any differently? Like 'Ree-anne'? I'm British and must admit I had no idea there were females out there called Ryan. For us it's like calling a girl David or Matthew or something!
