Not one to comment usually, but that was so rude at the end. He spoke clearly and loudly, even with an accent. He knows more than one language, traveled to educate others on a subject you know nothing about, and yet you decided to crack “jokes” that weren’t even funny, and just made everything uncomfortable. As soon as someone mentions they’re Persian, no one knows what that is, but as soon as they say Iranian, immediate prejudice kicks in. I’m glad there are others who saw what a racist you were, too. I only hope you became more educated after this, but I’ll keep my doubts.

There are two types of people in/from Iran: religious and non religious. The non religious like to refer themselves as Persian as opposed to Iranian due to the fact that 'Iran' came about after the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Secular and pre Islamic 'Iran' was referred to as Persia.

Actually persian people can speak english really fluently and with a more understandable accent than many other languages. I think he just ignored what he said after he said he was from Iran. however I didnt get upset that much because we are used to it. By the way Iranian people are not arabs and dont speak arabic they speak persian ( Farsi)!
Iran (Persia) has one of the oldest civilizations in the world. So many amazing sights and structures and a very rich culture. There is no war in Iran and it is very safe. The people are very hospitable and there is no hatred going on. You are more than welcome to visit us!

That's so rude, Jimmy! How could you not understand the last guy? I know in California it's easy to get used to the Spanish-English accents, and the Chinese-Vietnamese-Korean-English accents, but that guy spoke English quite well. He was Persian, but his accent sounds almost German ("courses" and "afterwards"). Not that difficult.

Also this hits close to home. My boyfriend has a strong accent and I can see how differently people treat him because of it. They think he's stupid but he speaks 5 languages, is an activist and artist. I lost respect for Jimmy here.
