I did, but mine said, "yeah, go ahead" until I told him what I was taking it for. Then he said it won't help. Me being dumb, took it the next day, and my constipation continues. I assume this stuff is the cause of my constipation. As I been constipated basically since I started taking it.
Another possible cause of my constipation is a week ago, for a few days I held my poop in cuz skin thinning made me feel uncomfortable to do ANYTHING. Don't take steroid creams folks.

I’m taking marine collagen for approximately 4 months and OMG the results are fantastic. Original took it for skin elasticity as I’m in my 40s and starting noticing a few wrinkles appearing. My skin now is much plumper and I have a definite glow. Don’t wear makeup most days and am asked have I started Botox 🤣 Also my hair has absolutely strengthened and a lot less frizzy and minimal hair loss(unlike before) Never had an issue with my nails but they are definitely stronger. An added bonus off no more achey bones and muscles after workout. Highly recommend taking collagen, it has certainly worked for me 😊

I have been taking it for about 6 weeks now because I had used rogaine for like 10 years and it basically slows your body's production of collagen. I got dark bags under my eyes and a puffy face. I looked almost 40 but I'm only 29. I'm not a scientist but I assume it basially sped up my skins aging process and gave me a slight collagen deficiency. I started taking this the day I quit using that. And in the time I have been taking this, my skin has gotten that tight elastic feel back. I also use retinol cream and aloe barbadensis daily, so I can't say how much of skin's recovery so far has been attributed to the collagen peptides I take every day. But my joints and body feel amazing. I am starting to see the brow arch I used to have on my forehead, and my eyes are slowly starting to return to their normal skin color. It's actually pretty crazy. I had initially thought it was just the area under my eyes that had gotten thin and weak, but my skin quality overall has drastically improved. I am planning to do this everyday for a year. I would leave a link to what I use but it'll make it seem spammy. haha
Moral of the story: Don't ever take roagine. It's better to be a bald man with no hair that have hair and look like the Emperor with your bags.

I think the importance of collagen goes beyond just supple skin (and obviously joints, etc). Most cultures that eat meat or fish eat the whole animal (thus consuming more collagen rich sources of protein in the process). We tend to focus more on Muscle meats in Western culture and with it we miss a lot of the balance of amino acids you get when you consume everything (which is also less wasteful). I've read and listened to nutritionists who say it is important to get a good balance of Glycine in Relation to Methionine. So adding in collagen to the diet (or eating more sources of it) is probably a good idea.

Like, oil cleansing, micellar water, the type that's just like a liquid you pour onto a cotton ball, makeup wipes, etc.
I feel like I've heard a lot about different types of makeup removers and I'm not exactly sure what the pros and cons are of each type.
Also double cleansing? I didn't think I needed to double cleanse because I don't wear makeup on a daily basis, but now I've read that you should still do it to help break up oil and sebum and SPF.

I am Asian, a singaporean Chinese. The reason why we have better skin is due to humidity and our genetics. Asians skin naturally produce more oil which acts as a “moisture lock” if it’s adequately. Caucasians naturally will have aged skin no matter the procedure due to environmental effects of Low humidity which cause premature aging and also the western lifestyle. Asians especially Chinese, Korean and Japanese are very knowledgeable with herbs, traditional Chinese medication and what to eat. It’s basically our diet. There’s a reason why USA population loves Chinese takeouts due to its “fancy” flavours but in essence its nutritious. The Koreans and Japanese happens to lead similar lifestyle to us as historically the sphere of influence is there for thousands of years and even longer. There’s a reason why other Asians such as Indians, malays do not age as well too. It largely is due to the fairer skin and of Chinese, Korean or Japanese origin.
Sadly that is genetics. But what you can do is to moisturise religiously and put sunblock. I am 25 recently started collagen and got my parents to start collagen. My parents are both 55+ surprisingly they do not have wrinkles and or white hair. Just occasional complains about the diminishing energy and flexibility which is why I signed them up to gym and various exercise and also hired dieticians to map
Out and convince them to indulge less in “sauce” it could be laden with unnecessary sugar.
I think especially Chinese, Japanese and Koreans always look younger due to our not mature look. We just look like babies I guess and our dress sense. Lifestyle plays a huge role ABC, and American Koreans in USA likewise don’t fare well due to the adaptation of western food, lifestyle.
In all lifestyle, genetics, environment dictates how you look. Sadly you can augment lifestyle and environment to a certain extent like ensuring adequate humidity(60-70%)

But hearing the science of it is pretty promising, and I think it would be really fitting for my lifestyle where I often overwork my muscles and joints. Even just to encourage me to eat more collagen rich foods to get my diet in line.
    Thankyou, very informative

Great info. I'll check out your other videos, and I recommend you include information about the body's natural ability to produce collagen. I'm new to this subject, but am seeing really good results with major health issues like pain, inflammation, and stiffness. Apparently we lose 1% collagen production every year beginning around age 25. So it's logical that increasing supplementation, either dietary or supplemental, would help balance that loss and prevent a lot of disease caused by waning collagen. It's looking like we should start increasing collagen intake between ages 25-30 and then gradually increase it throughout our lifetime. And of course a variety of collagens in important as Types 1 and 3 are more for skin and hair, etc., and Type 2 is more for joints, bone, and connective tissue.

Thank you. There is no point of taking collagen unless one starts to have age-related skin issues. I think for most women it would be at least after 35 or 40. It is best to build a habit of eating variety of vegetables and fruits and avoid alcohol and nicotine, as no amount of supplements would erase the damage of poor diet and alcohol/nicotine abuse. Also it is important to pay attention to the hormonal changes. I found it hard-way that when hormones start to change for whatever reason, but premenopausal women especially, skin, hair, mood drastically change in a very short period of time. In my experience hydrolyzed collagen works, but it's not a miracle-cure for wrinkles. There must be hormonal balance in the body, good nutrition, hydration, physical activity and then collagen will show noticeable positive results. If one simply adds supplements but they don't absorb well because of other issues in the body it's a waste of money.

Another great option is a clean anti-inflammatory diet filled with the right antioxidant combinations (sugar free is best!). Sometimes it can be hard to find that without supplements, though. We recommend a collagen supplement that has antioxidant ingredients in it and vitamin C to help the synthesis of collagen. Feel free to check out our RUclips page for more details on this and the collagen supplement that we produce which has all of the above! Please keep in mind this comment and our page are only for educational purposes. As with any changes in your diet, it is important to consult your trusted physician first and foremost. :-)

As someone with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome who’s body produces mutated collagen, yay 🙄connective tissue disorders! This is very interesting. Particularly when we’re always told to take collagen supplements when all that’s gonna do is get turned into more of the mutated stuff if it absorbs.

    • @AffectPho
      @AffectPho 4 года назад +5

nxvxr I know opinions differ on this, but here is mine. I think because most people with EDS have a mutation in one type of collagen (not all 28 types), taking a collagen supplement could also increase the amount of the non mutated collagen types. Pretty much everywhere in our body has a combination of multiple types of collagen, so it might still strengthen things as a whole. Also, especially given the positive results many people with EDS have had with prolotherapy, I think it is likely that even producing more of a mutated form of collagen could increase overall structural integrity. I think of it like a bunch of wimpy threads combining together to make a stronger rope. Or like how a bundle of flimsy twigs can become quite strong when combined.

Kidney strain, depending on your current diet. Overloading yourself on proteins is taxing on your kidneys and liver. Mind you, this applies to long term, constant use. If you supplement for 3-6 months out of the year, you'll be okay. Initial 2 weeks can be extremely drowsy as collagen supplements temporarily lower the blood pressure for some reason but you adjust quickly. Vitamin C is necessary for absorption, some brands include it in their blends but it may cause cramps in sensitive digestion.
