  • Bobby Roode has recently confirmed his retirement from wrestling in WWE so here's a video on the story of Bobby Roode in TNA. He wrestled for TNA for 12 years and became a legend with the company, he started as a jobber in Team Canada, had a singles heel run, made a tag team with James Storm called Beer Money and eventually became a heel World Heavyweight champion. I've documented his rise through the company and covered his main career highlights. 2010-2012 was peak Bobby Roode as he feuded with Sting, Kurt Angle, Ric Flair, AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy. By the end of this he was one of TNA's greatest home grown talents.

Roode was always that one guy that could go out there on any given night and give you a good match. He wasn’t outstanding at anything in particular but he was always the most reliable and managed to make whatever he was given work. That’s what made him such a big asset to TNA. I appreciate him a lot more now in hindsight because of that. He’s very underrated.

The ladder match with RVD also was pretty good. The match where he lost the title to Aries was also one of the best world title matches in the company’s history.

Loved him post his split from Team Canada, to the days in Beer Money Inc, that excellent promo, and of course his time as TNA World Champion. I wish he got a better shake on the WWE main roster, but that NXT run was really good as well. I feel like Roode is one of the few wrestlers who somehow made it through all the politicking & BS & booking changes & booker biases & everything to pretty much max out their potential. He wasn't an all-time talent, but he had no real flaws in his game and was more than good enough across the board to accumulate lots of gold and spend a lot of time in & around the main event scene. So three (NXT counts for me) mostly competent but fairly weak/unspectacular world title reigns and many, usually more successful, secondary singles & tag title runs feels just about right for him. In a general sense, he'd still be an easy Hall of Famer, just not quite an inner-circle one. All in all, a damn good career.
