Brutalist architec style nothing to do with comunism or socialism but origin of this style of buildings came from UK England where you still have a lot of buildings in that style i dont like it but it came from UK i hope you don't mind this note, i am a architect work and lived early in London now i am back to Belgrade retired i have 60 years and 40 years of working, you are welcome in Serbia and there a lot of city with beutifull architecture like Subotica and Novi Sad
Those so called RUclips travel expats have zero idea what they are talking about, some buildings she was recording were built before WW2 far away from communism architecture but is important to have "underrated", "hidden", "less known" and other clickbait titles.
Belgrade looks adorable! And your videos are always nice to watch because you give us interesting history tidbits. Hope you had a great time exploring the city.
Well, as to the prices, we were in Florence last month and we paid 13 euros for a glass of Aperol Spritz in Republic Square. Just coperta was 3 euros per person there. Belgrade is going up with prices, but you get much better value for the money. The pici that we had in Italy was 12 euros and was a modest, tasteless dish. It can't happen in Belgrade. A shot of liqeuer in Skadarlia should be cheaper (2 euros), but, again, it depends on what fruit it is made of; they have very good quality ones there, and if it was made of expensive berries, for instance, then ... April is normally beautiful and much warmer, but this year has been crazy ... We were also freezing in Italy, it was cloudy with spells of rain and sun ...
01:57 small correction, you are right 150+, i will just add exact number, 192 times bombarded during history and 44 times ruined to the ground and rebuilded from 0. The most of it in the time of war between Austrian and Ottoman emipirre. Also, hard bombarded by first Germany and then US and UK coalition during WW2.
12:25 Small add, PORK, PORK, PORK and PORK and some vegetables... beef.sheep, goat meet. But, PORK everyone loves the most and eat it the most. In 18. and 19. century, Serbia was leader in pork production in Europe. By the wrong agrar politics Serbia transforms into pork meat importer today because we eat pork meat a lot and our production isnt enough to satisfie needs.
The buildings pointed at 07:02 are not from communist period, they are built in 1920s... and then, at 17:18... looking at the communist baby - Novi Beograd, we hear: "I like it". 🙂 But, you are very charming, and you seem completely sincere in your reactions. So, thumbs up.
I am traveling to Belgrade this coming September and I can’t wait. Like you mentioned about Bucharest is a beautiful city that I visited in 2022 and is very affordable. I have been enjoying visiting Eastern European countries since they are more affordable, not a lot of tourists so far and they are beautiful and there is a lot of history ❤

16:30 serbian traditional lunch for almost any holliday, can explain whole serbian cousine. 1. soup(influence from Vienna, even italy. Pasta+egs+sault+water'vegetables) 2.rinflajž or rinflaish(also hungarian and austrian influence. Boiled hen meat + potatos + carrots) 3.sarma(OTTOMAN-turkish influence. Pork meat roled in cabage) 4. Also, BAKLAVA, TULUMBE, URMAŠICE, SUTLIJAŠ,... TURKISH-BOSNIAN sweets. Also, our main pastry, two of them. GIBANICA and BUREK, are directly connected with Turkey. Serbian version of burek was first time invited and maded in Niš, southern Serbia by turkish guy. In Turkey. BUREK is the name for every pastry maded from pie crust. In Serbia. BUREK is specific dish, maded from pie crust, sunflower oil + cheese or meat or greens or spinach.
Its been raining - streets will be quiet. Not every youtuber knows everything about the country they have just landed in. I like the lack of tourists I travel to meet natives, thats why Belgrade is the best. >90% serbs
This shows only dark and gritty side of Belgrade mixed with rainy day. This is not a real picture of Belgrade. Why only show old and ruined buildings? There's a lot cool modern buildings in Belgrade, green streets, fancy houses, river area is nice. I'm not local, I am from neighborhood city Novi Sad, but this video not show spirit of Belgrade. This is a most depressive video of Belgrade on you tube.

Apparently, that was the 11th snow in April in Belgrade in the last 100 years. It happens, but just once in a decade
Just like all over the world, under 1000m. Instead od snowfalls, you better get ready for boulders, mudslides and debris all over the planet.

Serbians seem to eat a lot of red meat, through their traditional cuisine.
Yes we love meat but also fresh vegetables and fruit, not much of aditives just fresh food
better red than green (meat).
