THANK YOU! I've watched numerous videos and read numerous guides, yours is the best for one simple reason: The trick where you pinch the first fold together to create the little hole for the other fold. I struggled time and time again with finding the right hole to stick the fold in. Now I can fold a bowtie with no issues. You're a savior man, thank you so much.
Thank you for this. As a long-time neck-tie guy, I had never learned how to tie a bow tie. When my son's school group decided bow ties were the thing, you and RUclips to the rescue.
Time, patience, effort, and just sheer skill. It would be what describes this video. After watching it... I pretty much get it quick. So you just got a new subbie.
Thanks for the video. Easy to follow. Among the plethora of videos on this subject, this one is the best. I ignore the comments from the haters. This advice is free and good to get the principles right. Then, just keep practicing. Thanks again
I only have one issue with this demonstration: He says "begin with the right side shorter than the left" . Yet he is showing the left side (his left) shorter than the right. I still figured out how to tie a bow tie with this video. But it was a little confusing at first.
It's a mirrored version. Should have been labeled as such. that's the confusing thing about bow tie videos. they have to be labeled as mirrored or not.
For those seeing this and still having trouble (maybe left-handed folks like myself?), make sure on the tough step that you end up with a folded bow on each side, determined by which way through the loop you go.
You actually began with your right side LONGER than your left (though you said shorter) -took me a while to figure out how I was ending up so differently than you. Sweet vid, though. Thanks.
In this demo, the instruction is to start with the short side on the right, but the video shows the short side is on the left of the demonstrator. Something's amiss.
Thanks for changing the camera angle four times during what you yourself describe as "the tricky bit", very useful up until this point, then becomes utterly useless!
So close but what seems to happen in all of these videos is you change the camera angle when the tuck in part happens so noone can see what "pinch it" means. You're not the only video where this has happened. We don't care about the loop, we see it's there we're watching your hands and the process so only showing the loop in the back without then going to the "pinch" part gives no indication of what "pinching" means. What? Where on the tie? From the left or right? Halfway on the bow part? Closer to the bottom? Almost got it but that part is just missing entirely.
I spent 8 hours teaching myself how to do this 5 years ago. I mastered it. Then I stopped wearing them for 5 months. I've forgotten everything. And now I'm sad.
Our right. If you notice, the short side is their left and our right. They say right to make it simple for you to copy them from your perspective. It's genius! 😊
Alyssa Roupas uh, Mouth, he was saying “right side” but it’s the LEFT side as you’re doing it because this is not mirror. You’re mouthy for being ignorant. I would say the LEFT side or shorter. It’s the same as when directing a stage play...you have to remember that from the audience, STAGE RIGHT is to YOUR left: LOL
me sitting here because my bros won't tell me how to tie a bow tie for my costume for book parade at my school: WTF IS THIS CRAP! I ONLY SURVIVED MAP CLASS WITH THE L AND R HAND TRICK LMAO
You say "begin with the right side shorter than the left" yet in the video your right side (from the wearer's perspective) is longer! OK...which is it?
But has this taught everyone left shorter, right longer, anyway? With a regular tie, I always start wide end left and longer. I'm used to left longer now.
Advice for any people who wish to make a video like this in the future: 1) Step one is to describe how to choose the proper length of tie. If it's too short or too long, this is never going to work. 2) Step two: For the demonstration, choose a tie as follows: Lay the tie flat on a table. It should be one color (call it black.) Now flip the tie over so it's laying flat on the other side. This should be a completely different color -- call it white. This way, any twists that arise in the the tying of the tie are completely obvious to the viewer. Absent these two simple tricks, I have found this video useless.
As to point 1, all the bow ties I own (in my extensive collection) have markings on the inside of the adjustable band, in inches and quarters of an inch. Simply adjust to the neck size of your shirt, problem eliminated!
What the hell. He said "start with the right side shorter than the left," and then the guy in the video pulled the right side so it was longer than the left.
Very helpful video. Except now I have this mind-numbing ditty in my head courtesy of the most distractingly annoying keyboard synth music in the background... my brain hurts. Make it stop.
This has got to be the worst video demonstration every. Fast cuts, at different angles. Slow down and give people a minute to follow along. Fold to the chest, wtf?
Seriously. Of all tutorials I’ve watched, this is the winner. Thank you!!

Yah
Out of all the advice and videos this made tying a bowtie the most comprehensible.
I've looked at other videos and by far your is the one I fully understand.
XxHawkfrostxX13 great to hear! Glad we could help.
I agree! Thank you!!!
@@Tiesdotcom Hello! Would you please make a female necktie tutorial?
This is the best video on bowtie tying. Period.
Thank you for this. As a long-time neck-tie guy, I had never learned how to tie a bow tie. When my son's school group decided bow ties were the thing, you and RUclips to the rescue.
Your proper guide to tying a bow tie.
best bow tying bow-tie video ever. Got it on the first try. It's all in the tightening once you get it through the loop. Thanks so much!
Time, patience, effort, and just sheer skill. It would be what describes this video. After watching it... I pretty much get it quick. So you just got a new subbie.
As quick as this video is, I got it easier than I did with the 11 minute slower more methodical videos, thank you!
Wow man, you really need to slow down
Thank you. This was the only video I’ve found that explained the crucial little trick before pushing through the loop.
that looks alot easier than I thought it would be
thanks for the upload.
Thanks for the video. Easy to follow. Among the plethora of videos on this subject, this one is the best.

Thanks again
2 hours of useless ass videos with hosts who tell you their life story and I finally find this gem. Thank you for the good video.

It's so easy when you finally got it right!
Excellent guide, can now tie a bow tie after 20 min practice. Thanks, and happy new years 2020.
Best bowtie video. Thanks for doing it twice and great tunes.

It's a mirrored version. Should have been labeled as such. that's the confusing thing about bow tie videos. they have to be labeled as mirrored or not.
Proper rubbish video
informative, nice 😘 worked on the second try
cap
Really a very, very good video! Nice job and thanks!
excellent video!! Thank you
This is awesome. Thanks!
For those seeing this and still having trouble (maybe left-handed folks like myself?), make sure on the tough step that you end up with a folded bow on each side, determined by which way through the loop you go.
My first two attempts were moderately fine, but my third was perfect. Never tried to tie a bow tie before.
Bow ties are cool😎
Really awesome. Thanks. :)
This is the best tutorial out of all the ones I have watched. Thank you.
Great explanation, super easy to follow!
I got it!🎉 Thank you!🤗
Bowties are cool!
Pod you edit the videos by yourself, because you have the best tutorials online!
Thx just did this live on stream for my firsts time. :d thx for the Vid! Subbed
Thank you so much for this!
I like your channel!
I watched this so many times, and I am sorry to say I could not do this.
You actually began with your right side LONGER than your left (though you said shorter) -took me a while to figure out how I was ending up so differently than you.
Sweet vid, though. Thanks.
Thank you :)
Very good
You can also think of it like your shoelace, then it's very easy. You just have to sort the shape out afterwards
Wow!!!So easy!!!
I've read two books that state how to tie a bow tie, millions of times. Can't get it. Watch this twice. Get it twice in a row.
In this demo, the instruction is to start with the short side on the right, but the video shows the short side is on the left of the demonstrator. Something's amiss.
A imperfectly tied bow tie is the perfectly tied bow tie.
You say “start with the right side shorter than the left” bit the right side is clearly longer
Thanks for changing the camera angle four times during what you yourself describe as "the tricky bit", very useful up until this point, then becomes utterly useless!

This is me right now
I'm confused, your right or our right
+Jacob Vasquez use your eyes
Our right.

Could you go a little faster?

Yeah just glaze over the sizing part. Matter of fact just rush through the whole video. Greaaat.
Like he said, it's trial and error
"Begin with the right side shorter than the left", then you proceed by making your right side longer than your left...???
filiptypjeu it’s just the camera that reverses the picture. He is correct.
You say "begin with the right side shorter than the left" yet in the video your right side (from the wearer's perspective) is longer! OK...which is it?
Says to have the "right side shorter than the left", proceeds to show a guy who has it shorter on his left hand
That is the patient’s left hand
You're skipping the key bit.
I believe the video must have been reversed/flipped somehow
But has this taught everyone left shorter, right longer, anyway? With a regular tie, I always start wide end left and longer. I'm used to left longer now.

God, you're a painfully smug friggin' choad smoocher!
Entirely too fast. Jesus Christ
I watched this a zillion time and he’s just going too fast
Effing SLOW down!!!!
An hour later and still nothi g
Yea too fast. Didn’t work
What the hell. He said "start with the right side shorter than the left," and then the guy in the video pulled the right side so it was longer than the left.
greg55666 no, it’s the camera that reverses the image
@@vickibonilla4510 Yes I know how mirrors work. No one talks this way when tying a tie.
I fxcking hate bow ties..
..'now here comes the tricky part'...and the video fast forwards and jumps so you see zilch!
extremely frustrating!
Slow down champ
Too fast
Yeah definitely breeze through the steps like this isnt a video on how to do something 🙄
Very helpful video. Except now I have this mind-numbing ditty in my head courtesy of the most distractingly annoying keyboard synth music in the background... my brain hurts. Make it stop.
It’s impressive how useless these videos are for teaching one how to do it. Yours included
Very unhelpful
Hate this video it’s so fast
This has got to be the worst video demonstration every. Fast cuts, at different angles. Slow down and give people a minute to follow along. Fold to the chest, wtf?
What the fuck
Too fast!!! useless!!
