Bravo Preston! I have been at several weddings where I have had to tie all the groomsmen's bow ties because I was the only one who knew how to. This will definitely be my go to video to teach other men how to tie it by themselves.
I'll admit that I don't know how to tie a bow tie...I'm closer to knowing now. But it's shocking to me that no one could tie a regular tie! My buddy and I learned from our dads about the same time when we were 14. We grew tired of wearing clip on ties when the occasion called for being formal. "We're too old for this!" I got rid of my clip on's soon after I learned. Did you know that policemen wear clip on ties just in case a criminal tries to grab it and pull him down?
Thank you, Preston, for your gracious, thorough, and charming instructional video. This is by far the clearest bow tie tutorial I have found online. You are a gem. Grazie mille! 🙏🏼💜⭐️
Best video bar none for learning this must know & required real gentlemen's obligation. I used the first & original. It was good. This one us even better! The instructional tutorial and the camera work and angles. All clear. All concise. Very simple & straight forward. Thank you.
I watched just to see the technique and I gotta say, its one of the best yet. Growing up at a British school with a strict uniform as well as some after school events that required a uniform of sorts, once you have to do a bow tie a few times a week (and a standard tie 5 days a week for many years) You really can do them in your sleep and they look so complicated when watching someone else tie and explain each step.
A very helpful video as usual. Not really a "bow tie guy" but in certain situations this knowledge can be very helpful. A few years ago I was asked to be a member of a formal wedding party of a very good friend. As we were getting ready I had noticed that the Groomsmen gathering around as I was about to tie my tie. So I became the " One who ties the ties". :)
I love wearing bow ties and have a couple from you guys. I thing different textures can present different challenges with bowties and would love to see another video.
Brilliant. I've started wearing only Bow Ties, and have pretty much just tied them the same way I tie my shoelaces. You showcase a few steps that I don't do, which causes me to *really* have to finesse the finished product.
I've watched a number of bow tie videos by now and seemingly by miracle 'wresstled' my tie into a bow for a few occasions by this point - however, I must say this video in particular was so easy to follow and something just seemed to click for me where others haven't. Thank you Preston and the rest at GG for remaking this guide!
Out of interest, what is it that makes this video the GG that you like? And are there any videos of ours that you don't like? Always helpful to understand more! 🙂
Hello gentleman's gazette, i got 2 important questions: 1: is there any variant of the white tie attire for hot weather? 2: what should i wear to swim according to the classic style? Greetings from Colombia!
Great video Preston and crew. This channel has covered many ties but I never seen a video from you gentleman on the continental tie. I wonder what your views on them are.
Yes, this is what I needed to really "get" it. I have recently acquired a bowtie after the only one I had previously sadly pulled loose threads on the edges. There's a lot of details to tying a bow tie that you don't have when you tie a simple bow knot because a bow tie is wide and flat. A wrong twist somewhere in the process will make the tie want to rotate to the right or left, which looks weird
@gentlemansgazette so it was a three meat lasagna with Italian sausage beef and uncured pepperoni Bolognese sauce ricotta and mozzarella cheese It was delicious
@@gentlemansgazetteI love that! I've sewn some bow ties myself (really easy, no need to spend a lot of money on those), but it's difficult to get the length right. Single ended solves that problem! Next on my list, I have to rummage through my fabric scraps 😊
Hello Gentleman’s Gazette, I have a question, can you wear a cravat with a double breasted suit as well as with a single, and if so what colour would you say I should opt for (the suit is navy with pinstripes), I’ve had a look at some websites and i have found some ones In a pale gold and others in red wine, what is your opinion?
A casual ascot makes things less formal than a necktie would, a formal ascot makes an ensemble more formal. So with a navy pin stripe suit, I would personally not wear a casual ascot. However, with a blue blazer I would.
This is more or less how I tie my shoe laces. I know there is another method people learn which is creating the bow through tying the two loops together. I came to understand this method after realizing that this is actually how I tie my bow ties. Despite that I keep tying one thing one way and the other the other way. I guess I just prefer that!
I bought a real bow tie to go with my tux when I rejoined the Seattle Men's Chorus. For that first holiday concert we wore either red or green neckties along with either red or green vests. Before the next concert series Covid struck, so no opportunity to wear my tux. I have to now relearn to tie the bow tie I have yet to wear.
Hi there I was wondering if someone could help me out here for this upcoming wedding apparently I need to wear a black long tail coat and a red vest. I have the coat and the red vest with a pattern on it. But was wondering what color of cravat I should pair it with and if it should have a pattern on it as well? Any help would be much appreciated, the wedding is in 2 weeks.
Guys, what do u think of creating a GG board for followers to share Black Friday sartorial finds with one another? I’ve come across a few sites with incredible values this wkend
If you have a standard adjustable bow, the adjustable T-bar will hook into the correct slot for your collar size. If it's a free-form sliding adjuster, it's a case of trial and error until you find a length that works for you
You said there is a video for single ended bowties on your channel but did not give a link and I could not find it. I did a search and found a video on a different channel.
The link is in the description, but here is the video for you with three advanced ways to tie a bow tie (including the single-ended bow): www.gentlemansgazette.com/advanced-ways-to-tie-a-bow-tie/?
Our bow ties are made by hand from high-quality fibers, and feature the right thickness of interlining to fabric ratio to ensure you get the most attractive bow every time. We design our bow ties to be elegant heirlooms that have a better value than cheap bow ties, so you actually get a better cost-per-wear over time 🙂
Nothing like seeing these old videos be remade, nice!
