@@Twenty3_Motorsport not sure about the oil pressure thing, I'm not competent to talk, but revving the piss out of a cold engine is always bad no matter what, I ride dirt bikes and they are very fragile when cold, *you will* mess up your engine in no time if you do that before warming the engine up to operating temperature, so you have all the parts come to their correct clearances before you put the engine at very high rpm

This is exactly the thing, I love the most, about old vehicles. It's not just about flicking the key in the ignition. It's a process. A procedure, and the best is, that you don't know, if you'll going to be successful, and how many attempts you'll gonna need, to start it up successfully. And those bosses, and whistles are just so gorgeous ❤ J.

The red Belarus has had the original engine pulled out , the chassis rails cut & stretched , & a bigger , possibly ex lorry 6 cylinder engine shoehorned in , bloody difficult stuff to do , but a prospective excellent result in progress , guys here used to do this with Fords , Nuffields ( which became Leylands ) International Harvesters , & Masseys , it takes skilled experienced blokes to get it right , but fantastic when they do , the mechanics here are to be congratulated . Try doing this in a stone cold shed in Russia . This job always needs to be on a bomb - proof gearbox & back axle , as just bags more power . My old dad used to like Belarus tractors for their toughness , I,m a brit . I once looked at one at the old royal show , but was bothered about getting parts , from Minsk , so asked the rep , he said & I quote " Vlad says , you pay bill , anything at all , 24 hours by plane ! " just unbeatable .

In the late 90s I was an outside parts salesman for an Western Canadian Freightliner Dealer. One of my customers was a
Hutterite Brethren Colony that bought wrecked semi tractors and other machinery and
Renewed them for resale. They had bought a bunch of surplus brand new Cummins natural aspirated 220 diesels engines used in Gulf War Humvees. I bought and resold 5 of these engines. 2 were sold for irrigation pumps,
2 for old graders and one to replace an Allis Chalmers farm tractor engine. I resold them for $5000 Can. In the case of the Allis they reworked the frame somewhat and installed the Cummins. Although it didn't have a Turbo the engine performed very well and was still there 10 years later. And including labour the replacement saved the farmer $6000. The key was the exceptional mechanic who had retired the year before from a local farm equipment dealer.
