Exactly get I was going to say. Commentators say it like that… gotta be 35. Then they say the other guy still has outs. Why bother even hiding his cards. It was pretty obvious
Tv showed it that way, confused ppl watching it claiming there was a flush, Kagawa could never imagine Dwan called the pre flop and flop with 5-3, from any POV set of 8s was the Best hand unless ur against Dwan who plays agressive with low cards
From the jump I was like "Dwan is the type to have 35hh. Come to find out, it was offsuit! Against Dwan, when I'm top of range and he's still in, IM FOLDING
Good point. The fact that it was a Diamond ace makes huge difference. The flush draw didn’t complete on river and there was less reason to check. 88 was essentially the second nuts.
Masa played well I just would've checked back on the river. Everything else he did in the hand is something almost anybody in the comment section would have also done.
I already knew this hand but looking at it again I wonder what masa expected to see here, if he called your reraise on the turn, why would you bet with the river with the heart draw and kings getting there in addition to aces/straight that had you on the turn. 😅 AK would go bananas on the river? I don't think so 😅
Imagine having a name where every other letter is the same letter lol. And then you're opponent using that letter to make a bicycle straight to beat you. Lol
OK, let's say Masa excluded 53 (despite the villain being the notorious Tom Dwan). Then on the turn he only loses to AA, which, reasonaly assuming an aggressive pre-turn play, is not an impossibility. Now, the raise by Dwan on the turn may indeed be a bluff. But he calls a small reraise (less than 3x). This can't be a pure bluff. It must be a semi bluff (sneaky monster draw) or strength. What's kind of surprising to me is Dwan here just called the reraise rather than reraise-shove, which Masa would have snap called. (Dwan probably sensed a set, and one in that situation could well be wary of the board paring on the river, but that would be rather uncharacteristic of Tom Dwan, and generally speaking it's better to realize the 80% equity here and now.) Anyway we now head to the river, and Dwan checks. What should Masa do? 1. If Dwan was on a draw (wheel or two pair improving to a boat), then he missed and he won't call a bet. 2. If Dwan actually had something, he'll shove (low spr). In short, this is a typical "only the stronger hands will call" situation. I don't know this Masa guy, but I'd guess he's rather nit and would likely be much tighter than Dwan. The small reraise on the turn by Masa therefore screams strength. Dwan wouldn't call the river bet with two pair or weaker. In my humble opinion, Masa should have just checked back.
Good analysis, check back is the play for sure. Not much to gain, only hands you get value from is a lower set tbh, but idk if a lower set would have played that way
And what draw does dwan continue with on the turn? The board couldn’t get any drier. It’s obvious he has value. Unfortunately I don’t remember the pre flop play of this hand but even still, you’re losing to two hands(kk seems incredibly unlikely). It’s a must bet
There is only 2 hearts on the board so a flush isnt possible. Whoever made the video put the ace of hearts instead of the actual card, the ace of diamonds.
Pure greed of Masa, the pot was already big enough and there was no need to try to extract even more by betting after that river-check of Dwan. Amature play.
When he calls the 2 on the turn it's one of those where Dwan either is outright punting air, has Aces or hit the straight. Equally it's very difficult to ever put him on a hand, and it's true that you can't always fear the monster under the bed, hence the river bet. But when Dwan jams river it's a painful but necessary fold, no chance of getting a fold shoving there if you're bluffing
Suppposed pros making bets they shouldn’t be making, just check that river back bro. So much beats you and it’s a clear and obvious trap. And please Don’t come back at me with value bet lark There’s enough in there and you have showdown value
@@ashtonfronsoe45in a world where he keeps his stack. If you don’t like a raise don’t bet. And it’s more than 2 hands that beat him. Every flush combo Other sets You do you bro

"Kettle of sushi" is pretty racist and also idiotic, as kettles are used to cook food or boil water, and sushi is raw. It's also a dead giveaway that Dwan has 53 before the end of the video, since the announcers even say "Masa still has outs."
Anyone with two brain cells knows dwan has 53 because of the commentators reaction to the 2

He meant it cause Masa Kagawa is Japanese.

When I bet big on the river with a straight my opponent almost always has a flush
Coz you newb and you dont play enough hands, try multi-tabling.

Dwan is on record say he called the turn re-raise because he put him on a set or top 2, and wanted to see if the board would pair on the river.
@@Mitjitsu Good to know, thanks ;)

Nobody but Dwan would call the pre flop raise with 5-3 in a Cash game
I’m very confused how did dwan win?
A-2-3-4-5 suit
Would be good to see the whole hand to understand why Dwan was in it with 5-3 offsuit in the first place.
