@@Maushine You'll be happy to know that no-one speaks like this - but most of the phrases in there are quite common: ran into, Dazza (Darren), arvo, barbie (not babie), pop along, juice, greenback (more usually called "hunjee"), esky, servo, snags, a slab, about 1/2/3.. (time), she'll be right.

Your guess for how to pronounce Kosciuszko makes a lot of sense, coming from a European background, but in Australia it's pronounced something ore like "kossie"-(like Aussie)-"oss-ko"
The desert question was completely unfair, because there are several deserts in central Australia, including Simpson, Gibson, Great Sandy, Little Sandy, Great Victoria, Tanami, Stury Stony Desert, Strzelecki, and Tirari. Of them the only one arguably not "central" would be the Great Sandy, as it touches the western coast. But even then, all of the deserts blend together into what is called the Great Australian Desert, pretty much one desert with artificial borders put on the map by various European explorers. So this question is unfair and you should both have gotten a point as the Tanami Desert is arguably a correct answer.

This was funny! A bogan is approximately what I think the Dutch would call a "tokkie"? It is often an insult but not always and may occasionally be used in a friendly or humorous way. Depends on the context.
"Servo" = abbreviation for "service station" = petrol/gas station. "Bottle-o" = abbreviation for "bottle shop" = liquor store. Ripped off with the Grand Prix answer! I grew up in Adelaide and many F1 drivers at the time said Adelaide was the best street circuit they'd raced on, before it moved to Melbourne.

    • @Maushine

I would describe a bogan in Dutch as a ‘tokkie’ indeed! Luckily I won anyways, otherwise there would definitely be a revenge

Maureen did NOT deserve to get a point for 'servo'. If you said servo when you were talking about the service you received somewhere, nobody would understand what you were saying, For example: "The servo in that shop was so good". We would be looking at you going "what does she mean??" It is very specifically referring to a petrol station only!! BUT.. it didn't matter because she would have won with 16 points instead of 17 anyway. Congratulations, Maureen!! 🥇🥳🎉🍰 Better luck next time, Noah, you are loving that Vegemite goodness!! Quiz master ChatGPT seems to have some sort of grudge against Noah.
Maureen was right about “ripper” also referring to a fart, but it isn’t technically the slang meaning behind the word.
Also I don’t know what drugs the quiz master was smoking, but a point shouldn’t of been given for service.
Although Maureen was close and absolutely deserves props for being on the right track,
Service (which can be a very broad term) and service station are definitely 2 distinctively different things.
The same with the answer wine, from Noah. Very close and deserves props for getting so close.. but quiz master was right in not giving a point on a technicality.
It was a very close game, well played to you both! Very enjoyable video, much like all the others have been and looking forward to the next one!

Yeah fair dinkim basically means real or true... But it's used it so many different ways to say so many different things that depend on the context of what it is said. It can be a statement, a question, a expletive... There no real one answer to say what it means and to ask the meaning as a trivia question is pretty unfair... Not even I could answer that properly with one meaning. It's the same with most of the words.
Definitely do not deserve a point for servo meaning "service" though. Your quizmaster was being way to nice... It was just a straight up wrong answer.
