Finally!! I've been waiting for someone to do a quality video debunking Dave Asprey. I followed him and the bulletproof diet for years. In fact, I was so involved that he actually quoted me in the first chapter in his first book. But after years my health was getting worst and was tired of wasting a small fortune on his zillion supplements and smart drug stimulants. Been vegan for going on almost 3 years and never felt better! My blood work is way better now, natural energy is back, and saving a ton of money on supplements!

I was sold on my vegan diet when I went in for my yearly physical after only three months as a vegan. When the doctor took my blood pressure, I waited for the usual response I'd received since high school of, "oh, blood pressure's a little high. Must be 'white coat syndrome'". The doc told me I was in a very healthy range. It blew my mind. When I got my blood labs back, it was the same. Super healthy range. I always had borderline to high cholesterol until I went vegan. Keep spreading the good word, Mic!

What a funny coincidence that you should publish this piece on the day I had a blood test for my cholesterol. I had been on th keto diet for 18 months and my cardiologist gave me an emergency sit down on August 9 to tell me my cholesterol score put me in the 90th percentile of danger for a stroke or heart attack. I changed to vegetarian and then vegan within a week. Today's results just came in after three months as a vegan (and I love being vegan, not a strain at all). Overall cholesterol went from 294 to 149. HDL went from 75 to 55. LDL went from 205 to 83 and Trig went from 70-56. I had decided that after two days of taking a statin prescription that it was not for me. I started watching your videos and those of Simnett Nutrition and got the daily inspiration I needed and I FEEL (and look) FANTASTIC! You were a helpful cheerleader through your supply of facts derived from accredited studies. Very much appreciated.

I would possibly believe this crap if not for being vegan for almost 10 years. Everyone is looking for a miracle diet to make them feel amazing 100% of the time- but that doesn’t exist. We live in a world full of pollutants in so many aspects (water, soil, air) we stare at cell phones all day and don’t get nearly enough physical activity, jobs and financial stresses and everyone wants to blame veganism. Everyone around me is struggling with skin issues, painful periods, weight gain, losing hair. I don’t know why ppl would be content eating predominantly dead carcasses and their secretions. So happy I found this lifestyle 10 years ago. I can’t imagine my health had I not.

I've been vegetarian (mostly) for about 24 years now, ever since becoming Buddhist in 1995, and vegan (WFPBLO actually) in March 2017 after watching Dr. Joel Fuhrman's video on public television. There are very few plant based meals offered at local restaurants, so it helps alot that I am now retired and now have the time to cook nearly all my own meals. Going 100% plant based must be difficult for parents who are still working full time jobs.

Gah! That guy boils my blood. I have 3 kids, been vegan for 10 years, they’re all vegan. My third was 10lbs at birth! My doctor said I basically birthed a toddler. She also always said I was her easiest, healthiest patient with zero health issues or complications during pregnancy. My oldest is 4 and in pre-k, and intellectually blowing the other kids out of the water. He can already do algebra!
Also, I’ll just note, my oldest has always been off the charts tall and super skinny and my 2nd born is more average in height and much heavier. Genetics really seem to play a bigger factor in your development! They eat the same, but have very different builds.
Anyway, in case there’s a pregnant vegan mama out there freaking out ... it’s possible to be vegan and have great, healthy, SMART kids.

I should also note I’m not trying to brag or make anyone feel bad who has suffered with infertility or pregnancy issues on any diet... I really truly just hope people understand a vegan diet is not going to hurt your children or ability to get pregnant. Although I think it did help a lot with my glucose test. They told me to eat eggs or bacon for breakfast the day of my blood test and avoid carbs... I had waffles with maple syrup and came in under the acceptable range. Super low! I do think my diet helped with that!

He ended up needing a heart monitor because of all that fat that was clogging his arteries. He wasn't even 30. I wasn't vegan then I was vegetarian but didn't realise how bad dairy and saturated fat was for you. So glad I became vegan and my now husband is plant based on his way to being vegan.

Does anyone actually listen to this dave asprey character? I had tongue cancer & had to get my tongue removed. Worried about bones choking me, i went plant based. HagobSaldaldianSmeik actually i used to take care of cancer patients by cooking for them. I rarely get sick in term of cold or flu. In fact i’m not vegan, just plant based. I just chose to eat plant based coz i know i won’t choke on any bones or bone fragments. I kinda got what i deserved when i think back to the amount of alcohol i drank & the number of cigarettes i smoked. Though i quit all that some 20 yrs ago, i supposed you can’t outrun your horrible lifestyle. It bound to come and bite you in the bum. My dad got oral cancer 15 yrs ago. I thought i was in the clear coz i quit all my bad habits. Guess not🤣🤣🤣 if you ever find yourself diagnosed w/ cancer of any sort, simply go plant based 1st & take your time to decide what sort of treatment you want to get. Don’t let doctors scare you into making rash decision.

Three months ago I got my blood tested, as you do if you have hypothyroidism, and my doctor was shocked to see I was in the higher level of the thyroid range (I hadn’t taken my pills for months due to cost). So she took me off the pills and has been monitoring my levels each month. Still no pills, almost as if I have been cured of hypothyroidism at 26 by being vegan for a little over a year!

After about a year, I hit a plateau, gained 10 pounds back, and got kidney stones for the first time (I was 50). Since kicking Bulletproof/Keto in favor of veganism, I've lost 30 more pounds, had no re-occurrence of kidney stones, and simply feel consistently better. I also never noticed how fast Dave Asprey talks until watching this video. Consider mixing in some decaf, Dave.

I think what happens to some vegans, I was one of them. Is at first you eat alot of whole foods then you discover vegan junk and drift from plants. So at first you feel great and then you eventually feel the junk and get brain fog, joint pains or whatever. I asked hench herbivore about this and he told me to cut out oils, sugars and try to get closer to whole foods plant based, I did what he said and all my problems went away. The closer to whole foods plant based and farther away from vegan junk foods the better.

No noticeable change in the frequency of my angina (chest pains).
On the other hand, the BP diet has given me more energy than any other diet I've ever tried, it completely eliminated my chest pains, and gave me an insanely low body fat percentage with steady gains in strength and muscle mass. Furthermore all my blood tests look better than they ever have before according to my doctor. I have higher good cholesterol, which is necessary for producing hormones like testosterone, and the lowest bad cholesterol my doctor has ever seen.

What drives me completely batty about snake-oil-salesmen like this guy is that smart people will fall for his obvious quackery, while shunning a plant-based diet as too "extreme" or too "restrictive" or whatever --- just because they really like butter and want to justify their preferences. When I first heard about this butter-coffee nonsense it was immediately clear it was bogus. But i know **intelligent people** who tried it as a weight-loss gimmick. Meanwhile my family are all vegan, we're all healthy and slim and active; but these folks never want to take that step to say "hey, veganism is working for them, maybe I should try it!" ... Because they'd have to give up their precious butter & bacon & cheese. It's really sad.

Even when I wasn’t vegan I found the idea of putting butter in my coffee pretty disgusting 😬

My daughter started a vegan diet on my grandson and he landed in the hospital for a week because he was malnourished, she was a vegan for 8 yrs an now she is experiencing problems. I don’t judge anyone’s lifestyle because everyone has different needs but the only ppl I see that eventually has problems is vegans.

As an obese vegan I can testify I don't have a saturated fat deficiency, quite the opposite.

I’m now 39 years old. But when I was 14 years old. My mom decdided to to put the whole family on a vegan diet. We were on this diet for about 2 years. I can fully state now yes, it’s child neglect to force your kids to do that diet.

I love that London Real just posted an interview with Dr Neal Barnard today.... So, they've slightly redeemed themselves from featuring this nonsense 😂✌🌱

I think the other snake in the room is Brian Rose...has a few great guests, like Barnard, and then...people like Dan Pena and David bleedin' Icke, for God's sake....grrr

But this is part of the problem. You have two interviews with people - one a doctor who knows what he is talking about and one delusional person - and it is now presented like just another difference of opinion. People like him should not get a platform to spout nonsense without anyone holding them accountable to the facts. Mic is doing a great job at that but not everyone is going to see his video.

@@SGast agreed. And the reason BR does this is purely financial...he's amputated his moral centre...in favour of a 7 figure business. Shame, because there's probably a decent person in there now drowning in his own greed.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that Dave Asprey looks 30 years older than he did when he was on Joe Rogan's podcast 6 years ago.

It’s really sad that Whole Foods sells his Bulletproof line, lending his fat-laden products an air of validity. Even though the founder of Whole Foods totally took Asprey to task on Asprey’s own podcast.

I would say force-feeding meat to children is child abuse. One must give a fair degree of autonomy to children including foods to make children healthy and teaching them the truth.

What I've come to realize in the 30 years since I stopped eating meat, is that consciousness is a huge factor in being a vegan. If you care for animals and the planet and you want to be healthy this is the way to go. However if your consciousness has not elevated to kindness and compassion you will find any excuse to go back to eating burgers or whatever and also bash the lifestyle.

Here's my antidote about thyroid problems. My grandmother, my mother and one aunt were diagnosed with under active thyroids in their 30s or 40s. My other aunt was diagnosed with an over active thyroid. They are all omnivores. I'm 48, been vegan 6 1/2 years and my thyroid is healthy.

All you need to do to find out which diet is superior is to try both. I've never met a single person who has tried both diets and decided veganism made them look, feel, and perform better.

Thank you for doing this video! Even though his claims are crazy and unfounded, the sound bites can get into your head and make you second guess things. Laughing at his baseless and crazy claims is definitely a good antidote.

I've tried bulletproof diet. My cholestorel levels were high, lot of butter and olive oil and some period of MCT oil. After just 22 days on WFPB almost NO, my TC went from 8.1 mmol/L to 3.8 and LDL from 6.1 to 2.3 mmol/L. I feel more satisfied onthis kind of diet then LCHF diet of sort.
