New Buzz For FSU & Clemson Joining The Big 12??? | Why DJ U Isn't Going To The ACC Kickoff

- There is new buzz about the Big 12 pursuing Florida State and Clemson. The Seminoles and Tigers are both suing the ACC in an attempt to exit the conference, but most reports have linked them to the Big Ten or SEC. Could the Big 12 swipe them away from the new powers? The origin of this new buzz was an interview with Yahoo Sports reporter Ross Dellenger. Dellenger brought up the Big 12 as a third option for FSU and Clemson, but people have run with the headline with minimal context. Dellenger did say that at this time he is unsure if those schools have a definite landing spot in the Big Ten or SEC.
Hosts Alex Donno and Kenton Gibbs break down the scenarios. Of the Big 12 made a serious push for this expansion, they would likely need to take on debt from Private Equity firms in order to do so. The guys explain why Florida State starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei has declined his invitation to appear at the ACC’s Kickoff Media Days. Gibbs and Donno explain what question they plan to ask the commissioner at the Kickoff next week.

We (The Big XII) would love FSU and Clemson to become part of the conference, and even a glimmer of possibility has sparked hope that a Super 2 becomes a Super 3. At any rate we aren't mad, we know FSU/Clemson are P2 level brands, apparently B1G/SEC are not so sure, but as CFB fans that is ridiculous. Ross Dellenger was simply pointing out that FSU/Clemson did reach out to XII via 3rd party talks. Ross did not say this was something that was going to happen.
Hypothetical but Would be awesome for Florida St and Clemson to go over to Big12. Should try and get Miami too UCF is already Big12.

BY knows FSU and Clemson would not be a long term investment to B12 but rather the first thread in disentangling the ACC and eventually their demise. W/O FSU and Clemson, the remaining schools will follow providing inventory for the B12.

Thank you. Your the only smart one here. Nobody knows what's going to happen til it does.
All options will have due diligence looked into. Like you said, no one knows what’s going to happen yet.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let this be true
FSU to Big 12 maybe but probably not
Never in your lifetime scrub😁
I have no idea if the big 12 is adding Clemson and FSU. But I do know some facts. Every big 10 school is in the AAU. Nebraska fell out but they were AAU when they were added. Since 1990 the Big 10 has added 8 schools and they are all AAU. It seems that lowers the odds for FSU and Clemson to go to the Big 10. The SEC is already in Florida and South Carolina. Doesn't mean the SEC would not take them but I don't think that helps. Maybe FSU and Clemson have some ace up their sleeve that nobody knows about but it has always seemed to me that they jumped before they selected a landing spot.
Did u know that every big 10 team did not start off as AAU when first joining the conference? Go check out who they were and how long it took them to receive AAU status while being in the Big 10.
But we need to understand that back in the 1949 Michigan State came in without AAU just before the Korean War. Of course 75 years should have more validity than just looking at what’s happened the past 30 years. 🤪🤣🤪
Best video I’ve seen involving Keaton for once great job hopefully you can keep it up
FSU and Clemson have not had 1st party talks with any conference, gotta wait till the lawsuits are done 1st
Great Episode Today
Go canes..
Well I looked it up hope everyone else does, beginning in 25-26 season the Big 12 with its new ESPN,Fox contract each team will 31.8 million a year, each ACC received 44.8 million in the 2023 season so teams will take a 13 million pay cut to join the Big 12?
Where did you get the information that ACC paid that much money 💰? Never heard that I hear around 32 million
Cannot find those numbers for the ACC
Sports business journal, ESPN, Fox Sports, CNS sports all have articles and the average was 44.8 per member. Some made slightly less, some made slightly more but it averaged out at 44.8. How much will that payout be now that Stanford, Cal and SMU have joined may change but IDK.
Was from Andrea Adelson ESPN senior writer
Folks the lies need to stop. The 44 million you’re taking about is the total payout that includes March Madness, CFP credits etc, 44 mil is not the base pay from the ACC tv contract lol. BIG 12 schools also will make around the same amount it TOTAL. The Big 12 pay was weird last year and will be this year because some of the new schools like Houston doesn’t get full shares until the new contract next year so old members are taking a slight pay cut. What ACC folk are forgetting is the ACC and BIG 12 are already about even in payout Totals but the BIG 12 adding FSU and Clemson will make much more.
Gibbs are you in radio. You're awesome man. Espn needs to get you a job. No offense Alex😂
Locked on Big 12 is just clickbait that uses the ACCs name to get views. Glad you guys finally noticed.
The NOLES are about to be free of their ACC chains! I’m good with the BIGXII and making the CFB playoffs every year where I know my NOLES will beat the snobby SEC and BIG
@@samsnyder4433 another delusioNOLE fan. Ive been hearing this for 2 years now.
🤣Big 12 social media people trying to piggyback on FSU and Clemson because their media days aren't getting much attention without Texas and OU.
naw, B12 is getting more than the media it needs...podcast like these hear rumors so they report..its the FB offseason...they gotta talk about something
The PAC12 fans said the same thing
It sounds like y'all want Phillips to be a combat sports promoter. Out in front, beating the drum for ACC teams, mixing things up making a show out of things for attention. If that's not his nature, he just gotta let the teams do the talking on the field. The fans watch the product, not the commish. If he's good behind closed doors, I'll take that over being good on the mic
SEC had Texas A&M and still took Texas?!?! The big 2 are gonna want them just so the other conference don't get them. Plus its a big market add for Big10!
SEC took UT because they were an upgrade from TA&M. Went from having the 2nd best team in Texas to adding a blue blood program that added a ton of value. FSU doesn't move the needle the same way. SEC would be better off planting their flag in new states UNC and Virginia come to mind.
@@stevenw5838fsu is the 7th most viewed team in the country! They would be top 3 in either the sec or b10. Yall need to research before proving your ignorance
Upgrade is an opinion but Texas and OU are both flagship Universities of their states and bring great value period.
@jansonroberts2616 Yes, upgrade as in they dominated A&M in all time series, more championships, more national clout. They even made the playoffs, which A&M has yet to do anything note worthy.
@@stevenw5838 your cracked bro, FSU runs Florida. I’ll be surprised if UF or Miami has their coach by the end of the season! Also they have more viewership than any of the other Florida schools!
This Nole is in 100% agreement with all aspects of this episode
I don't think Clemson is a shose n anywhere... but big 12I don't think the Big Ten want to go over 20 teams and they're going to keep room for Notre Dame
Why would they go to big 12 when it pays less than the acc. Get real jobs an quit guessing. You don't know anything
It would only happen if the Big 2 says no, but they could see the fact that Big 12 is on a short term media deal compared to ACC. If the big 12 finds a way to pull this off it would add a ton of value in the next media deal. Do I believe it happens no but we shall see.
@@stevenw5838they would go independent first
It would not be a lateral move because the ACCs payout would go down and the B12 would go up.
Guys FSU is not going to the Big 12
Glad you think U know everything. Thanks Dr. Knowitall.
Well...they have to go somewhere where they can dominate and easy conference...
Oklahoma and Texas are gone so...2 more big dogs needed.
Not a slight at the Big 12, just not sure what you're gonna get..
Texas never dominated the conference...OU could lay claim to that..but this is Bobby Bowdens FSU..they havent been dominant like that in close to 2 decades..they had some good years, but never sustained it..Clemson will be good as long as they have their coach, after that who knows
If the money is right in the Big 12 or ACC, yes playing in those conferences would be fine. It's about the Money. 60 mil and up
Those teams to the Big 12 is nothing more than a lateral move. That's like my wife leaving me -- for ME lmao...
We will see.
would FSU and Clemson possibly make more $$ in the B12...maybe..but would it be enough to justify the cost of getting out of the ACC GOR...nope..as a B12 fan, id suggest they stay in the ACC...all I ask the ACC to do is leave the B12 alone...dont try to entice anyone to join..the B12 has been picked over enough, let us have stability for Gods sake LOL
IMHO, the B1G doesn't want to go past 20 teams. They are hoping to get ND and a team (Stanford) that ND wants to bring along.
As a CFB fan in the Big 12, you guys are eerily starting to sound like some Pac 12 fans not that long ago.
A month ago, the B1G's top goal waa to get to the South. Bizzare change in direction.
South as in South Bend. Someone not in the B1G just ran with the south narrative and have enjoyed the clicks ever since.
If FSU and Clemson joined Big 12, I think yormark gets 5 million more per year for each member and i think FSU and Clemson make 50-60 million per year
Thus sounds exactly like the Pac XII last year.
Sounds like a repeat of Locked On PAC12 from 2022. ESPN is gonna kill the contract this winter. Winter is coming ACC.
Big 12 is far better than staying in the ACC
You guys should know that anything is possible in realignment and shouldn’t be discounted.
Word is the B1G wants Stan/ND. SEC wants NC/VA and May have to take NCST/VT to do so.
While I think FSU and Clemson would be more of an SEC fit they could very well be left out. The XII could also use PE money to pay them more.
Anything is possible.
Acc will lose the ESPN contract next year if FSU and Clemson leaves. If they maintain it, they will not come close to any other conference. How many people tunes in to watch NC State versus Wake Forest. Duke versus Boston College..
Gonna laugh so hard in 3 weeks when FSU and Clemson are in the B12.
B1G takes AAU institutions. SEC and Big 12 are the only options. I would like to see Big 12 and ACC to form a scheduling agreement. If SEC and B1G think they are superior, so be it
Fsu goes independent before going to b12
And miss the playoffs again? If FSU would've went undefeated in the Big 12, they would've made the playoffs
@@wvgolfnut1😂 😂 so dam true. Let's be honest they could have lost one and made it. Ou,UT, and TCU took an L and made it from the BIG 12.

Do you think before you speak
As an FSU fan I’d love to play in BiGXII … both SEC and BIG can go soak their heads… they started all this non sense with the help of ESPN let the Noles make the playoff every year and spank the big two and ESPN says I
fsu & Clemson just keep stepping on rakes....
We haven’t step on a rake , we’re jus exploring our options, get yo facts straight
No they are heading to SEC, Florida state and Clemson are a fit in SEC, to much travel in big 12 or big 10
Go NOLES 🔥🏈🏆
Kenton, my compliments on your restraint. My reaction to FSU or Clemson joining the Big XII in the next 5 years is unprintable. At this moment, I still have some respect for those schools. If they did that they would be the FOOLS of the Century. Also, the Big XII has NOT contacted either FSU or Clemson. Yormark is many things, in my opinion, but none of those things are DUMB. Sheesh.
This is the very first comment that we 100% agree on. I would have to pick a new team to root for if this happened
Isn’t fsu just a couple years removed from (oddly) bringing 2 QBs to ACC media days?
ESPN & Disney are not going to renew their contract with the ACC after 2026-2027. The ACC IS DEAD 💀. The Big 10 is waiting for Notre Dame, plus one, and stop at 20. The SEC might not take anyone. The last Power Conference, The Big 12 could take 4-6 teams. Some may be Basketball 🏀 only 🏈
K G, you don't sound so positive about the moves the Big12 are making. I honestly think with the changing landscape, you should give Yormark and the moves he is making some love. I do not doubt his reach as he is a business man 1st, and I can see a place where he finds the money and elevates the conference, and makes it a place where recruits wanna go to the schools in that conference...
Please understand folks that these shows need fodder for conversation. 😂
I thought you assured me that FSU was going to the SEC. What happened?
@joshuarowell7732 especially talking about the ACC
Ohh JohnnyTallyWhacker your world is falling apart
Boys really in talks with the Big12. That’s UCF vs Fsu rivalry is going to slap 😂😂😂
🎯 Exactly someone actually gets it!
I wonder if these two hosting this show is temporary or are they bringing back that fine young lady Candace Cooper when the season starts?
I am still wondering why the Big 12 has been talking private equities. What would be sad is...if no body takes them once they finish with their legal action with the ACC. A less than full rate may be less than what the Big 12 offers them. Talk about a sticky situation for Florida State and Clemson.
Both teams would absolutely accept a half share to SEC or B1G but even that might not be offered.
They would go independent for a couple years before joining the b10 or sec. I dont see it since the tv money fsu brings would be top 3 today in any and all conferences (#7 most viewed team in the known universe)
Not saying they go to the Big 12, but this is the same guy who said Utah was going to the ACC a month ago. 😂
Fsu Clemson big 10 sec getting all power houses is insane and would destroy both conferences you going to see this year how bad the conference going be money wise good real good but going to be a lot of 6 win teams there going to be beat up...
Been telling ya'll for a hot minute! FSU NEVER had a landing spot prior to starting their "bit@hing and moaning" session against the ACC. Ya'll swore up and down that FSU would not be doing this if they didn't already have a landing spot. Ya'll talked all this smack about Miami and how they'd better hope that FSU takes them along with them, etc., etc.
FSU doesn't have a choice here. They can't stay in the ACC any longer because it's not going to be an ideal marriage. It'll be like husband and wife constantly fighting and going at each other. The trust is gone between the two. They either go to the Big 12 or go Independent. FSU does have the resources/monies to buy their GOR. The issue, which has always been the issue, is that they never received any interest from the SEC or the Big 10.
Keeping that in mind, with this part of my prediction coming true, I'm going to predict something else which I've stood by since day 1. If Miami does well this season coming up and ends up going into the play-offs, you better believe that they'll eventually end up in the Big 10 or dare I even say it; The SEC? Miami is doing it the right way. They didn't pitch a stink and rub other programs and the conference the wrong way. They already have all of the necessary or desirables that the Big 10 would want in a Big 10 program. People can say whatever they want to about how they don't have good attendance at their games, don't have a stadium, how they haven't won the conference or a championship since joining the ACC, etc.
Bottom line, after more than 2 decades of not doing anything, Miami is still ranked in the Top 10# in college football brand recognition. Add that to the enormous media/geographical area, etc., Miami is in the right spot to be looked at seriously by any of the other P2 conferences. Finally, with Miami's president no longer being at the program, Fink, or whatever his name is, as he took the role of president over at, I believe, USC recently, Miami's interim president is reportedly a hardnosed supporter for the football program and wants to see it flourish like it once did. I don't think that it's any coincidence that the new president is in place, and I would not be surprised if they've already been planning in the background. Why else do you think Miami has been shelling out loads of monies in NIL deals to obtain better talent, etc.? They've been killing the recruitment lately and if they manage to obtain DJ Pickett, they'll again be in the top 5 for recruitment next year.
Is this click bait? Are you now taking a page from Locked on Big 12? WHY WHY WHY is there this mis-perception that the Big 12 is a better conference than the ACC? Please, this is a serious question y'all. Help me understand. Clemson and FSU to the BIG 12 would at best be a lateral move (debatable) but most likely a step down in terms of competition. With the exit of Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC, whose left in the Big 12 besides Utah and Ok. St? The ACC's top 6 schools are better teams, and bigger brands than the Big 12's top six, the ACC makes more money, the ACC is better academically, and with few exceptions the ACC has bigger stadiums...i can go on and on. Consider this, how about the Utes, OK St. WVU and Kansas, UCF and BYU to the ACC. This adds two more teams out west (Utes and BYU), Kansas and Ok St. gives two in the mid-west, UCF another FL school that's been pretty good of late, and WVU bring them back east and renew the WVU vs. VaTech and WVU vs. Pitt games. The addition of these teams would be meaningful additions and would provide leverage for more media negations.
This MisPerception thing about the big-12 is about a sustained narrative from Brett Yormark and other media adversaries. The guy is a marketer more than anything and he is actively running a campaign to destabilize the ACC like he did against the PAC-12.
Historically the ACC has always been the best overall Basketball conference and quietly is usually in the running as #2 in football championships vs B1G 10. The ACC has an argument of being geographically + academically + athletics + brand power as the best conference overall. The big-12 simply cannot say the same. even the other conferences may not compare as favorably in every category. How are these ACC nerds accomplishing all of this? How is it the ACC wins just enough without the academic excuses?
Another issue is that the ACC has accumulated multiple rilvaries. The ACC + SEC are siblings split from the South Conference. The ACC is the academic one. Oddly enough many of the rivalries with the SEC generated by the back and forths with FSUs bellicose fans and Clemson's success as an outlier Big East fans blame the ACC for their demise following ESPN wishes. The B1G with all of it's resources & viewership actually still underperforms in competition in aggregate. BIG 10 fans and mid westys culturally don't understand the Atlantic coast, South east or North East at all.
The ACC is in an odd spot successful enough to be a threat to everyone but not enough to be perceived so. Also while being attacked by everyone. Yet Everyone wants the ACC schools for themselves.
The PAC XII homies said the same last year?
Ludicrous...
Kickass Rapper man.
