  • Here are several videos taken on March 29, 2024, featuring the MTA NYC Subway - in particular, the 1 train! On or not too long before this day, four Bombardier Transportation R62A cars (2177 through 2180) returned to service on the 1 after being out of service following a derailment in January 2024. The fifth car in this set, car 2176, was unfortunately written off, so a different single car (1934) was utilized to replace the damaged car. This was a very resourceful move by NYCT!

Those WH motors sound fresh, the entire 5-car set appears to have received some new parts.

I think this now leaves somewhere between 815 and 820 cars still active now.

What happened to car 2176? Was it one of the cars involved in the derailment at 96th Street in January?

Yes it was. It looked stripped so I guess they determined it wasn’t savable

They are using a former shuttle car in place of 2176?

Huh, I thought they got the single from Westchester, not Livonia

It may have been from the 7/6. I remember the car having the LED circle/diamond lights. Good on them for removing the lights before service though

@@mtattrain2it also had no seats for a while when it was on the Shuttle. Now it looks refurbished with the old paint job as it was when it came into service in the 80s

1934? I don't think it was ever on the 42 St Shuttle. If you mean 1943 or 1949, that's on the Shuttle from the 6/7 without seats.
