    Hello Janette, I definitely need to include more annuals next year after seeing your beautiful display. I usually just place them in the front of the house near the front steps and in containers. I never put them in the ground, will definitely mix it up next year. Thank you for another great video, you inspire 💚 Lottie🥰🐶 I’ve already started my catalog shopping 😜🤗

    • @TheEnthusiasticGardener
      @TheEnthusiasticGardener  3 года назад +1

      I got my seed catalogue yesterday so might sit and have a flick through tonight after work. I have more luck with things in the ground than in containers, they last much longer and after a while I get fed up with watering all the containers. Wasn’t so bad this year as I’d put them all together. More ordering, more lists to compile 🤣 it never stops does it? 🤣🥰

    • @elizabethgreco-nieves3667
      @elizabethgreco-nieves3667 3 года назад

      Ohhh we must compare notes on our orders. I went to Costco after work yesterday ( I think UK has one) and much of the same common bulbs. I agree containers can be a nuisance which is why only annuals go in them and they are pretty sturdy if I may forget to water🙄😜

    I have the same looking inpatient's .... Mine are called Sun Patients and yes they do sun or part sun / shade ... they do grow taller in the full sun ... mine appear to be 20 -- 24 inches tall ... I have mine in three different areas and a total of 20 altogether .... they are also the Fire Red color ... I really like mine however they are to tall and they are water hogs .... so next year I plan on only having 6 and placing them in just one area .... Seriously love that I can change my garden around if I don't like how I planted it .... Yours is looking Awesome .... Hugs

    • @TheEnthusiasticGardener
      @TheEnthusiasticGardener  3 года назад

      You can plant some in the ground but I’ve never done that. I’ve only sown seeds once, this spring! And I had them in the seed trays. It was very easy actually, just buy some seed packets and it tells you everything on the back, exactly what to do and when and you need seed starting soil mix, not ordinary compost or anything. Give it a go Shirlene 😍

    • @TheEnthusiasticGardener
      @TheEnthusiasticGardener  3 года назад +1

      Hello and so lovely to have a new gardening friend 🥰 and we have the same problem because slugs and snails are the things I battle with too. I’ve tried copper rings (they go underneath 🤣), slug pellets (my dog eats them), garlic sprays (it rains and washes it away). So now I’m just not planting anything they like any more. I can’t have coleus or hostas or anything with a crunchy celery type stem, that’s their favourites. They don’t like anything with a woody stem. But they don’t eat anything on this list of 5, otherwise I can promise you they would not have been there to show you. And I pick them up with a little trowel in the mornings and throw them over the fence (not into my neighbour’s side though 🤣) 🥰

    • @MumAndSonAdventures
      @MumAndSonAdventures 3 года назад

      @@TheEnthusiasticGardener Thank you for taking the time out to give this detailed reply. 😍My hostas were completely annihilated by slugs. I tried the copper things and the pellets. Pellets only work on pathways for a day or so until it rains, and then they just dissolve away. Now my policy is to plant things which they dont like. Guess they have defeated me . And i did the throwing away behind the fence thing too. 😬 but to no avail.

    • @TheEnthusiasticGardener
      @TheEnthusiasticGardener  3 года назад

      If you throw them over the fence they come back you know!! I watched a programme about it 🤨 they have defeated me too. They crawl over coffee grounds and eggshells too. So annoying.
