I was 21 and living near Pearson when this tragedy occurred. I still remember waking up on that beautiful sunny July morning only to hear about the loss of the passengers and crew of Flight 621, many on their way to a holiday in LA. I refused to forget those victims and their families even though it seemed to me that the airline and local government officials for many years hoped that the public would forget. I am now a resident of Brampton. I wholeheartedly support the role the City took on in creating and maintaining the memorial. I visited the site with my daughter so as to pass the memories of those lives on to her. My condolences and sympathies to all of those who lost loved ones that day. Their memories live on.

My dad was on duty that day with the Brampton Police Department, and was one of the first officers to arrive at the crash site. At the time, no one was sure exactly where the plane had landed, and which police department had jurisdiction. If I remember correctly, the investigation was led by the OPP detachment in Woodbridge. I remember my dad speaking about this terrible event only once, and then, only briefly and without any details. But it was clear to me that it had been a horrible experience for him. I have since heard stories from some other police officers who responded that day, and what they saw was really too awful to describe.
RIP, to the men, women and children who were lost aboard AC 621.

SundudeCAN One of the most horrific sites in his 31 year career : where he described body parts hanging from trees. In those days, police officers, sadly, did not have much (if any) support after such incidents, nothing more than the fraternity of their peers. A tragedy for sure! For families, witnesses, first responders, etc.

A beautiful, touching memorial to a very tragic event. I remember hearing about it as 14 yr old in 1970

I live nearby the memorial site & visit on the anniversary of the crash, very peaceful resting spot for all the innocent people who perished that day, the memorial is beautiful & brings back memories of the day of the crash. So sad.

The best man at our wedding in 1974 was an undertaker, and he helped to take the victims to a place where they could start their last journey home. He never talked about it.

Stumbled upon the memorial gardens accidentally while on a walk with my wife yesterday - had no idea this happened, or had occurred so close to where we've lived for nearly 15 years

What an awful scene for the First Responders to arrive at, l don't know how they deal with it. Very intelligent & considerate of the developer to carefully build the community around a memorial for the crash victims.

I lived in Winnipeg at the time. The day before, my grandmother flew from Montreal to Winnipeg, with a stop in Toronto, with CP Air, on a Boeing 737. When we heard of the AC621 crash, we thought there but for the grace of God...

My name is Christel (not Claude Noel as indicated as sender); my father was with the OPP and was one of those who had to identify victims and their belongings. The impact it had on him was dreadful - he never discussed it with family members (his children) but did tell my Mom some things. He is no longer with us but my mother still recalls some things. My father would come home every day after the crash and immediately bathe - said he could never rid himself of the odour. My mother recalled the story of one passenger who had managed to carry a small dog on board. The dog survived. Years later, I attempted to obtain information regarding my father's involvement; to no avail. It was only through some long, dedicated searches by a younger sister who managed to discover these videos; amongst them, a photo.of my father, at work, and forwarded them to me. It is with great sadness to hear the comments of victims families and how they fought for a memorial.

The accident was non survivable. So I would very much doubt the story. If the dog had survived, it would have been mentioned in the final report.
