What's the best piece in this studio? I want that teletronix la-2a!
Andrew you should look into the company AudioScape. They do handcrafted USA made gear that is phenomenal, and very reasonably priced. I have their LA-2A and it sounds amazing. Only thing is they put out small batches two days a week and they instantly sellout, so you have to have an account made and order within the first minute they release them (8pm Wednesdays and Saturdays). Real quality stuff, and I hope to get tons more of their stuff. They make a great SSL buss compressor, 1176, Vari-Mu, a Tube Pultec and more!
LA-2A link: www.audio-scape.com/products/opto-compressor
All the drums!!!
his 500 series rack
Yeah, I should probably respond to your actual question 😂 - His 500 series Maag’s and the solid state Pultec.
absolutely his beautiful diy workstation desk, standing on Jarvis sit/stand electronic table.
I love that this entire house is the studio AND they made it all happen in a rental. They made every room a part of the studio. Now THAT is commitment :D
Yeah definitely jealous ;)
come to mine next, I already got the whole rundown. Hey guys heres my focusrite 2i2 and these guitars im borrowing....ok thanks
Been there! hahaha most of my stuff started as hand me downs.
@@AndrewMasters I did however take your advice and grabbed a new mac mini to run everything! Gets the job DONE
@@lifeofdeez7201 Isn't it surprising how effective the mac mini is? I fee like the word 'mini' downplays the quality of the product haha.
@@arianamastersofficial oh yea for sure. Just a quick DIY ram upgrade and some external memory and its quite the workhorse.
@@lifeofdeez7201 That extra memory is such a great boost too. The mini is where it's at. I think every single person Andrew has done a tour with uses the mini.
That is a round neck resonator guitar. There is also a square neck, or what is most commonly known as a dobro. The metal part is the "cone." It isn't a pickup, but does function somewhat like a speaker in that it resonates, hence the name, and projects the sound. Square necks are played in the lap with a bar, and are tuned to open G. The round necks can be played normal tuning like a guitar, or put it in an open tuning and use a finger slide.
STONE BABY STONEEEEEE!
Love your music bro you are an inspiration.
18:35 That desk is sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man, that place having "character" is an understatement. The old house vibe has to be one of my favorites! I started following Stonebaby on instagram several months ago when he got his new desk in from Soundesign.
It's very comfortable and has killllller gear.
also that desk has actually really shifted my perspective. i want one exactly like that because it's perfect. i love how it moves where you want it so easily
Check out our desks on Instagram @_soundesign_ .. we made this one and shipped to Nashville. Happy to discuss anytime
It’s a Resonator it’s a metal cone that takes the sound of the guitar and makes it louder they were invented in 1920’s when big bands were popular and a Acoustic guitar weren’t loud enough
Love these studio tours...Great seeing people talk about their personal experiences and journey putting together their spaces. Nice to see pretty gear too :)
Just the right amount of time spent on a studio tour for someone like me who zips around on RUclips trying to absorb as much as possible without getting trapped in a video that wastes a lot of time.
Kudos to both of you. Got to the point.》 Next. Just enough flavor with the tech. Picked up a few ideas for my own humble at home studio.
Thanks dude!
@@AndrewMasters
I used to call my nephew, Vincent, Little Dude when he was a little kid. So one day he asks me: "What's a dude?."
I tell him it's a cool guy. Shortly after that, on his own, he starts calling me "Uncle Dude." So how did you know?
Another time in the ShopRite, the cashier asks me: "Are you The Dude?" as I had hair and a sweater similar to the Jeff Bridges character in *The Big Lebowski.*
So yes, I am The Dude.
@@rjb7569 I've been lookin' for a dude. I guess I found you
I need that desk in my life
Did NOT think I'd watch this whole video, but man! GREAT vibe at that place, totally laid back interview, and Thomas is a chill rad dude. Thanks for the video man!
thanks brotha!!
I felt that with the bluebird... I have an mxl 990 one day I’ll get a super nice mic 🎙
Me too haha
This is one of your best studio tours. Everything gets explained so well. This video has taught me a lot about outboard gear. Great video and studio.
Y’all on that next level Best Buy trip.
wow you guys really nerd out on this one. I appreciate the detail you went into. All the way to the end I was taking notes on my phone lol ANOTHER GOOD ONE ANDREW thanx for all you do man
Awesome, thank you!
"There's no good place for a MIDI Controller. It's either bumping on your knees, too high or too far away from you". Now that's one of the biggest truths I've ever heard in my studio life lol. Great setup, great video :D
this content is OUT OF THIS WORLD amazing, I can't even fathom how this is free
32:00 That's a resonator guitar
This studio tour was amazing! Such a cool and well executed concept for a studio! And the geaaarrrrrrrrrr !!!!!! 10/10
Thanks, it’s a great spot!
Man that is an awesome, very natural looking studio. Keep up these videos man. They are by far my favorites of yours because who doesn't want to see all these studios and awesome gear!
That desk is the shit
Bro! You're killing it with these studio tours!!
Thank you!
It’s called a resonator guitar.
Awesome set up! Enjoyed the tour and the conversation.
Thank's for watching Layla
Thanks Laney!
❤💪😍
So awesome and cozy home studio
Thumbs up from the UK, we have been redeveloping our home studio & have found your videos awe inspiring, so many cool ideas, too much cool stuff. I’ve spent a lot of time in studios in the USA and it’s amazing where they pop up. My favourite (not based in Tennessee) was a studio in battery park NYC, situated in an apartment over looking the Statue of Liberty, with a cool balcony for smokers.
That's super cool! Thanks for checking them out!
What an awesome house! Love these studio walk throughs.
Glad you like them!
Great video per usual. Love seeing the growth of your channel over the last year or so! Keep up the solid work!
Thanks man!
My fav studio so far. Amazing! Just sweet man!
Ahhhh man! This is this guy's studio! Been looking at his studio forever on IG! That vibe is sooooo dope! Love the rustic wood and plants, especially on the sidecar!
Best piece is the house. Nice tour, thanks! Camera work was a little wild though.
Yeah, drummer with a camera gets a little weird.
Keep doing these studio tours ! Love it! So relaxing and love to day dream about one day having the same kind of set up!
Thanks!
Nothing like two chill guys appreciating gear together :)
Awww....I wanted to hear the playing...
Wow, very humble guy and homely setup. 👌🏾
So cool! 😄 I love seeing other people’s setups and designs
Love this studio, I really like the house vibe a lot. Great tour!!!!
Thats a beautiful dream setup
It's super cozy, with some sick gear.
Love the channel.. great work
Just magnificent :)
The Bluebird was my first "nice" mic too!
32:30 - That's a resonator. When people say it's a Dobro, they're referring to the original maker of such instruments. You're right to say it's not a Dobro. That's like calling a motorcycle a Honda, even if it's a Yamaha or a Suzuki, just because it's a motorcycle. Still, people call resonators Dobros because it's a catch-all term for resonators. The one I bought about 20 years ago turned out to be a lemon. I even had a luthier look at it. He returned it and said, "Nah." So, now it's wall art.
Yes! thank you.
Also a dobro usually implies a square neck instrument that's played horizontal with a bar and finger picks (think Jerry Douglas) and a resonator guitar that it has a round neck, and is held like a normal guitar (think blues). These aren't technical terms and they're interchangeable, but that's how most people I know distinguish between the two. Technically they are both resophonic guitars, regardless of how they are constructed or played.
Sick room
Turned out great!!! Thanks Andrew! 🤙🏼
Thanks for having me broski! Everyone go sub to stonebaby sounds channel !
Love these tours :)
Thanks!
im proud of my boy stoner!!!
my guy!
That resonator is awesome!
Love your content. Just input for ya. Get a 2ch mixer like aztech, rode wireless go, and a rode micro maybe. So you get a decent audio. Keep up the good work !
awesome video! great studio!
That rising wooden deskkkkk is a dreammmm 👀
This is awesome!
Another informative interview. GG
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for watching GG
I waited through the entire video to hear something and at the end..."could you play something?" and roll credits. Aye yi yi
Follow him to see his work!
The 4-710 case is crazy! very nice
Resonator Guitar :-)
The first step to admitting you have an addiction. Is....
Going to more studios. Hahaha. Keep it up man. Good stuff.
Stoner!
Wow! you guys are really some gear nerds... I love it. How the hell did you hide the wires so well in a rented house. FYI, renters insurance won't cover any of your gear. Respect!
Lots of cables ties lol and yes correct. I have separate insurance for my gear 🤙🏼
Good Video!!! (no Adam A7X Studio Monitors :-)
I buy lighter Mic stands with a 10 Lb barbell weight on it. I put some foam between the weight and the stand base. Another thing is to keep an eye on the stand rubber feet.
Home Studio ASMR
Hope he looks into maybe buying that house so he doesn't have to keep moving his set up... nice place!!!!!
Plan to build a place from scratch one day! 🙏🏼 I haven’t minded moving much it brings a new energy each time
AM upload, what a beautiful day
Morning!
Really loving this series!
But sometimes while talking about a certain piece of gear, you're not showing it on camera, which sometimes is difficult to follow what he's talking about. I think just some b-roll would be perfect.
But anyways love your content, keep it up!
fine! ill hit subscribe!
(well worth it, i love the content)
🤪
Those ugly mini split AC units can be partially covered with lighweight shoji screen boxes, just make sure you don't cover the airflow. Also it would make more sense to put the midi keyboard on top of the desk and put the mouse and keyboard on the sliding tray. You would have to adjust the desk height way less. Just a couple of suggestions from a dumb guy on the internet.
If you guys love gear breakdown and getting into the nitty gritty - this video gets more specific than the rest of Andrew's tours, I think. Enjoy :)
So much nerding.
The resonator guitar is pretty cool
Great tour Andrew & nice set-up. (quality pre-amps too). The LYDs are perfect for that sized room & can definitely recommend the Dynaudio 9S sub as the perfect companion for them. Don't think there's been a 2019 upgrade to the Mini - if that's what he meant? (mines exactly the same spec as yours Andrew). Best choice Mac for a home studio in my opinion. Only thing I'd say is his screens' a bit on the small size - I run a 55" Samsung TV (as a main monitor) via HDMI and a ASUS 28" monitor via USB-C. Have the adjustable desk too but its manual - wish I'd bought the auto version seeing that.
Thanks dude! Yeah I got the 2018 update.
Thanks! Yea, I misspoke it’s a 2018 - hard to keep track of everything. And I personally don’t like looking at large TVs my monitor fits and works perfectly for me 🤙🏼
i love this one!! that studio seems like such a vibe!
It is!
Hasn't really bothered me t- WHAT SIZE IS IT!?
It would be a nice feature to play a few minutes of some songs after a tour just to hear the results of the studio and to hear the tones that are generated from these studio. These studio look great and the owners talk a good talk but I would really like a sample of what comes out of these places.
Feel free to follow them and seek that out! Unfortunately that doesn’t really work in my videos.
i really love this one. i am sure i subscribed to your channel months ago but ii just had to again.. weird. i have still been getting suggestions to all your videos even though i wasnt subscribed maybe this is why you have a lot of watchers not subscribed?
Thanks Gav! Appreciate it.
Beautiful studio.. Love it. Any chance of a James Michael studio tour? :) I think he's in Brentwood? I used to live in Murfreesboro a long time ago. Miss Tennessee.
Not sure who that is, anything's possible!
@@AndrewMasters He's the singer and producer of SixxAM. I think he might of worked with Keith Urban as well. He's got a sweet home studio.
need his desk!!
32:17 that is a resonator. Dobro is a brand of resonators. They are so well known that uhhh...its kind of like when people say "Can I have a Xerox? When they mean a white sheet of paper...if that makes sense, heh.
What about that travel rack out to the right? I’m so curious!
"Resonator" guitar
Is that a custom keyboard stand? It’s dope!
Sweetwater!
Was this studio in one of UAD's posts? The aesthetic is tasty
I think they shared it, it’s from stonebabysounds instagram
Cual telefunken es el que le gusta para voz?
Escuché que la cabeza de cobre es muy buena. También me encanta el 251.
Where did he say the desk in the control room came from?
Instagram @_soundesign_
am Using a tripod with Gym weight with a 1' hole works super fine
Planning a trip to Toronto? If so let me invite you to my little studio. 😀
Great video!! I wanted to know what kind of desk was in the control room?
Thanks, 17:37 Thomas talks about the desk.
instagram.com/_soundesign_/?hl=en
@@AndrewMasters thank you 🙏🏾
What is the name of these little yellow speakers square form ?
Anyone have a link to the maker of the desk?
Unreal that the 2019 mac mini is working for him... Would love to know the specs on it considering my 2018 mac mini seems to struggle with my current home studio setup :/
Where are the issues occuring? I've been using 2018 mac mini for a year and a half for everything. It's great.
@@AndrewMasters I find that my CPU reaches 50% at around 20 tracks with a healthy amount of plugins/VSTs (I'm running the 6 core i7 3.2ghz, 16gb RAM) and gives me considerable audio dropouts/lag... And I can't help but feel like a professional studio environment like Stonebaby Sounds would be tripling my usage on any given session. I've considered upping my RAM to 32gb or even 64gb to combat this issue. Any ideas?
Noticed that he’s using the LYD 48’s. I have a pair on the way. How do they sound???
Love them!!! Especially for small/medium sized rooms
Stonebaby Sounds that’s fantastic! My room is also incredibly small.
hey Andrew, what is the name of that mic condenser that thomas says he uses the most in his studio?
Telefunken Copperhead!
@@AndrewMasters thanks Andrew!
The house is the studio? Is a record label based out of there too ;)
The studio is the house ;)
What is the overhead mic stand called?
secondddd
Almost made it
@@AndrewMasters dude i was so close this time
@@AndrewMasters also another killer video. the nerding is strong in this one
Firstttt
Yesss
I wonder how many of these professional “home” studios there are in the greater Nashville area?
A ton!
@@StonebabySounds I bet!
Really enjoyed the tour. You have a great studio set up. All the best!
Dude, there are so many. It's crazy.
What brand is that desk!
Weird question, but do you happen to know the dimensions of his mixing room?
Roughly 15 x 14 ft 🤙🏼
@@StonebabySounds Thanks! It looks like a pretty nice size for a home studio. I'm currently looking at apartments and finding somewhere with a spare room that ticks the boxes is a nightmare.
Wanna call over and watch some fridge?
