6 years studying with this ledge & I've only been able pin out the studio in my head purely from piecing different lessons together over the years. Stoked to sit down & watch this. Warren, how does it feel finally being on the other side of a studio tour! Love your work lads
Warren, you are such an inspiration and I’ve learned so much from just listening to you and your guests share their experiences making legendary records. It’s such a treat to see everything in context, and phenomenally educational. I do have one question about what we didn’t see, or maybe I missed it in the background, but I was wondering if there’s a Studer in Spitfire, and do you ever track on tape at all? Thank you sincerely for bringing the most critical element of music production to the masses, in my book the engineers and producers are the real rock stars. Looking forward to many more great episodes of Produce Like A Pro, and thank you Kristian for enough gentle prodding to make it happen. I’m looking forward to checking out the EVH IR tomorrow and seeing how it blends with my cabs and their lowly 57s.
i always think i watch tours for the gear but i really watch them because you get free education like this one has soooo much compression goodies thanks so much
Thanks for the video, Warren has been a pinnacle in the audio world and is a great inspiration. Finally a tour of his studio. I wish you could have gone into more detail, with the tour and more in depth of his workflow with the gear, the room, the history etc.. This video was so rushed...Warren has given so much for the pro audio world, we need to give him a lot more love than just skimming the surface. I really mean this in the most positive way possible. I appreciate what you have done though, I'm happy you have taken the initiative in making this video. Maybe a part 2?
Kind of inspiring... to see that such a big name appears to do their good work in such an average looking, easily achievable, project space! Skill and putting the time in make all the difference (and he has great gear too.).
Great studio tour. Always loved watching Warrens videos and trying to figure out everything he has going on gear wise. Warren if you're reading this, you're missing a Driftwood Purple Nightmare ,lol .
The JCM 900 was my first gigging amp. I traded it in for the TSL100 like an idiot and have been looking to buy another on eBay for a couple of years. I love the 900!!
Warren really knows his stuff...he learnt the old school way so I always have time and respect for him. Glad to see he still uses the DBX comps and Pultecs...U47...the best. The Cadac..did that come from Rockfield? And what's going on with the Quadraverb! Ha ha..
That's the song that we have been recording at the studios in LA. This will go inside my academy. People can watch the session documentary, get the tracks, mix the song themselves, check out my tracks through Lemmy's rig etc. That will be soooo cool!
I just want to point out that Bark of dog from BOZ doesn't do the subsynth thing. It has three operating modes: Resonant filter (Classic), Boost-attenuation (Passive), and both combined Combo. It's Sasquatch Kick Machine 2 from BOZ which does the subsonic enhancement (and also the white noise attack trick). Also there is the Brainworx bx_subsynth which is in their own words " a meticulous model of the legendary dbx 120XP Subharmonic Synthesizer’s Waveform Modeling™ engine". Cheers!
ahhh the old habitat, im surprised i just now came across it lol ive been using the Bark of Dog (the DBX 120) plugin for awhile - often on kick tracks...great for a bit of extra "boom" and amazing for a freebie - great to see you mention it in a positive way) thats really about the only comment i can make on the stuff but thank you for showing us around Warren...good on ya mate 🤗🤗
Interesting find on the 500 Series Pultec. I personally use JLM500 Pultecs and can embarrass myself at times ranting about them, so with these, I've never jonesd for a "real" Pultec. But like the Pultec 500 series you have, I did a direct shootout when I was about to buy my buddies Forrsell SMP500 against his own Gordan Model 5 19" and honestly, if anything I preferred the SMP and it was less than 1/4 the price! Oh, and the BA 312a is such a fantastic API build. I really miss them.
