Hi! Great video of cool car. I think those "pink lights" are infrared diodes of proximity sensor which detects drivers position and prevent accident if driver fall asleep or tired
Wow, so many questions answered without a word. What a great review! I got the best feel for this car of any other review. One thing I've never understood though are all the remarks people make that test drive Toyota hybrids is how they are "not a fan" of the hybrid CVT sound. I mean, the CVT itself is silent. It's just the engine sound being throaty and building in voracity as the speed increases. Many describe this as "droning." I don't get it. I own a Gen 8 Camry hybrid that sounds and performs much like this Prius. Maybe not "quite" as fast as your Prime there, but just as fast as the standard 23 Prius. I think it sounds awesome when I get on it. Nobody seems to complain about the sound of an airplane, or a boat, or snowmobile or jet ski when they take off. No gears are required on them just as no gears are required on a hybrid. Imagine being on an airliner and as it takes off pinning you in your seat wishing you could hear it "rowing" through the gears. Not likely. You just enjoy it for what it is and are wowed by it. People need to wrap their head around new technology and appreciate and enjoy it for what it is. Change is good sometimes. But thank you for a GREAT review. 😊
Thank you for the kind words! Nice way of putting it, you make me appreciate the CVT concept a bit more, I compare it to a classic gear box and that might not be the best way. Guess we just tend to like most what we're used to. Love this comment, thanks!
I have to comment on this as well. I am a toyota hybrid owner and I think they should have worked harder to make the engine less noisy. It IS annoying sometimes. However, that is not the fault of the "CVT". (e-CVT is actually only a virtual CVT and is mechanically absolutely different). There are engineering reasons behind this. And a fair bit of psychology as well actually. People (not only laymen, car folks as well) look at the concept of a gearbox from a completely wrong angle. Internal combustion piston engines are inherently limited in their operation. They cannot go from zero to (say) 30 000 rpm. This is the only reason clutches and multiple-ratio gearboxes had to be invented - to compensate for the ICE deficiencies. Fun sidenote - watch how steam locomotives accelerate from standstill. The steam piston engine CAN start from zero revs, but it is pretty harsh. Once it is moving, it only has one available gearing ratio, since the axle is the crankshaft basically (and the gear ratio is given by the wheel diameter). You can emulate this in an older MT car - just put the first gear in with the engine off and THEN start to crank it. It will start moving by using the starter motor and once it fires up, you go. Hardcore offroaders actually do this on purpose in extremely specific situations. I am simplifying here, but the way toyota devised their hybrid system allows the ICE to be sort of disconnected from the driven wheels. The ratio is not fixed. The engine is noisy because it is naturally aspirated and has to spin quickly. NA angine is torque-limited and the only way to achieve higher power (for given displacement) is to increase revs. (this is something a turbocharged engine can overcome, as it can increase torque by adding boost so it does not need higher revs to achieve higher power. Also a turbo serves as a sound muffler by itself, which helps). In my older Honda or BMW, when I needed to overtake, I would go from fifth to third and pedal to the metal. Was it noisy? It was. Admittedly, it was a much nicer sound then a toyota hybrid produces under full or moderate power. But the principle applies the same. So yes, toyota hybrids are sort of noisy. Is it because of the CVT? No not really. Toyota hybrids are noisy because toyota developers know that most of their customers can tolerate it and some maybe do not care. They probably even calculated that making the engine quieter would be too expensive and there would not be enough new customers to compensate for the costs. It's just that our cars have been doing the 1-2-3-4-5 since always and people got absolutelly used to it, attached even. Maybe we like it the same way we like music, I suppose. As EVs demonstrate, the art of shifting gears will soon be made obsolete. (Oh by the way, even EVs DO NEED multiple-ratio gearboxes to broaden their capabilities - just look at Porsche Taycan and Mercedes AMG - they use 2-speed transmissions for their e-motors).

The previous versions of Prius were Uber drivers favourite. The 2024 model is definitely not for taxis due to it's bootspace and in a way is good. However, I am not sure if ground clearance is good enough for occasional driving on bad or roads with speed breakers. Having driven my 2008 Prius which I still own and never had any problems until recently (the red triangle of terror) indicating some attention is needed now, I can vouch for the excellent customer service, the ride quality of the car on urban roads and cost of maintenance is absolutely great. However with the pricing and extent of range from this car from electric am not entirely sure if anyone would like to keep this for a decade (like the previous models). I do intend to test drive it this weekend.
I'm an uber driver who currently drives a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. Looking to replace soon so the obvious choices are either a 2020 ford fusion hybrid since that was the most recent year they made it, Camry or accord. That said the prius is much cheaper and fuel efficient. Thing is I have doubts that it is big enough to keep my passengers comfortable so I dunno. Trunk appears big enough. Could go Korean, but in my experience renting and driving my parents car, they have crappy drive quality. Loud road noise, bad suspensions, poor ergonomics, ect.
I have a 2008 Prius and I absolutely love how it drives and how cheap it is. The look is not that bad either. And seeing this new one with the beautiful design makes me get the Prius again.

Yellow taxi cab
Absolutely, in some countries 😄
дуже класно, що ви все мацаєте руками, це дійсно додає присутності (POV). дякую
Hey... for some reason they forgot to make it ugly.
Good silent Review Enjoyed ❤❤❤
Ok, that chuckle after the camera cleaning got me! 😆 That light in the back is the one for reverse driving btw. 😉
Interesting feature at 3:40 - seems like it flashes the hazards (and at a quicker rate than usual) under heavy braking.
What a brilliant idea for car reviews. hope you do get more subscribers.
thank you, much appreciated! 🙏
Nice vídeo bro, and it reached Brazil!
Love the song at 2:42
First time on this channel and must say that the format with captions instead of talking is great idea. It's not so disruptive and to be honest, most people are not a good narrators anyway.
Thanks! Appreciated. Yes, that's exactly why I started this format, too much talking on the other channels. 😄 Thanks for watching!
