    As a Model 3 owner for the life of me I don't understand why you would buy a 60k car and not drive with the heat on or buy a real tire pump. I turned off the video at you guys trying to pump up a tire with a bicycle pump.

      All the budget went to car payments.

      I believe the heater was off as an experiment to see maximum driving efficiency. They looked for minimum kilowatts per mile driven. This road trip had generous charging opportunities to use ample heat, defrosting, and driving.
      Before starting trip, I would have checked tire pressure for proper range and used a motorized inflator if needed. 20 years experience driving into Vermont ski areas taught me to never drive into potentially snowy areas without a brush and ice scraper.

      We were testing the new energy app and you can see it actually saved real mileage. Also when you have heat "on", the car actually turns the seat heaters on first and has HVAC extremely low. Plus when there's not a passenger, it disables the HVAC for other parts of the car not needed. Regarding the bike pump, it's only there for times like this. A motorized pump is heavier and not needed (plus we already had this in the car). We could've pulled into a gas station, but had plenty of time at the Supercharger to pump up a couple psi. Maybe we're a little different because out MY was

      Thanks @johnpoldo8817! You are right, we were mainly testing efficiency and really over charged a lot on this trip given that we knew we'd be OK. We did things like run the defroster a couple times which used quite a bit! That being said, totally agree that everyone should definitely check tire pressures and carry the right equipment. We grabbed all our winter gear (tires, scraper, cold-weather wiper fluid, etc.) later that weekend (hard to believe Boston had 70 degree weather only a week before). We are now prepared for ski season. Thank so much for subscribing all the support!

    Why was the Rivian using the Tesla handle and not the j1772?

    • @johnpoldo8817
      @johnpoldo8817 Год назад +1

      You are looking at a J1772 charging handle plugged into the Rivian.
      I monitored construction of 32 stall Tesla charging location in Estero, FL. 16 stalls supported 250 kW with the NACS plug and 16 were Tesla Destination chargers, but with a J1772 plug. Sadly, the level 2 charge rate was only 3 kW. It appears the mall operator wants you to shop there for the entire day.

      We think the Rivian owner didn't realize they had to flip the switch on the gray panel. Was cool to see the Tesla to J1772 adapter. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

    Hi thanks for the video! Nice road trip. Where did you get the manual tire inflator?

      Hi! We got the Bell bike pump on Amazon ( link - amzn.to/3EBkJDu ). We like to keep it in the shallow rear compartment right in front of the deeper compartment in case of cold weather like this. It did take 50+ pumps per tire to get the 2-5 psi increase... so good thing I had help :) Thanks so much for subscribing and supporting the channel!

    always report charging speed in kw instead of mph. it's more accurate

    • @JQLouise
      @JQLouise  Год назад

      Totally agree! Energy into the pack is what counts, but it's still cool to see an implied "1,000mph" charging speed when we first connect. At 4:48 it looks like we somehow hit 258kW which got us that crazy speed. We always prefer the 250kW V3 Superchargers and keep our battery icon set on percentage. How did the new tires perform in efficiency? Thanks for sharing your traveling experience!

    • @JQLouise
      @JQLouise  Год назад +2

      Hi! We haven't noticed any difference in efficiency. The tires seem to be quieter than the originals, but that also could be due to wear and road conditions. We are hoping for snow so we can do a more in depth comparison and will keep posting anything we find. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

      @@JQLouise yea I do know winter tires are much softer compound, that’s probably what makes them seem quieter. I would caution driving them too much in the dry as you’ll wear them out much faster than all seasons.
      Cheers!
