    This band is all because of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and of course their great vocalists. They are really a studio band, but so many good songs.

      What does a studio band mean?

    • @lamusiclover2264
      @lamusiclover2264 Год назад

      @@AJ-zz2kw Usually means a group of musicians that are not part of a musical group or band, but are independent musicians hired specifically for recording because of their expertise in their instrument or their voice. So for example, the producers of the s.o.s. band are the same producers that did Janet Jackson's best albums. For the s.o.s. band, they hired a couple of singers and made albums. The exact same producers and musicians played on Janet Jackson's albums but did not necessarily tour with her.

      @@lamusiclover2264this is not true. Mary Davis was the female lead vocalist that you heard on all of their songs, and the core of the band consisted of Jason Bryant on keys, Bruno Speight on guitar and Abdul Ra'oof on vocals and percussion. The also had a hit before Jimmy and Terry in "Take Your Time (Do It Right)". Even on the albums Jimmy and Terry did the bulk of they had a few self produced songs that were good. They were not simply a studio band.
