The first great band produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Speaking of weekend, one of their best cuts was "Weekend Girl". Also give a listen to "Take Your Time", "No One's Gonna Love You", and "Tell Me If You Still Care", all produced and some written by Lewis and Jimmy.
To this day I have this very vivid memory of the first time I heard this back when it came out. I guess I was 16 and I was with my best friend, in a cove at the lake one night. Across the cove were some dudes with this blasting out the trunk of their car. I'll never forget how it sounded echoing through the cove. Damn, what a jam! I went out the next day and bought the 12 inch single that I still have.
Your mom is so right Empress..."A dog that brings a bone will carry" People who bring gossip will turn around and carry gossip about you to those they were just talking about to you 🤔
Best Uber ride I had, this lady had an Escalade with a one hell of a loud and clean sound system. Anyway, a few minutes in this song started playing, I mentioned it was one of my favorites, the driver cranked the audio up, and it was like being in the club. The bass synths/ guitars, you could really feel it. We were vibing to the song, and since the windows were partly down a few pedestrians and cyclists overhearing it were like "Aw hell yeah, play that song sista!!" When the song finished, she was like "Wanna hear it again?" Me: "Hell yeah." Here: "Don't mind if I do, mmmmhmmm **dramatically hits the |
This song brings back memories when i was a kid in the early 80s i remember my mom use to bump this record hard especially this song summer time 1983''!!! This beat goes hard!!!🎶🎶🎶😎😎😎
Hey , like Ving Rhames told Tyrese in Baby Boy, “ That’s MY shit!” Old school funk, this is the way WE did it back in the 80’s, I was in my 20’s the whole decade, a blast! 🔥👍🏾✌🏽🎧
Wise reaction-your mom was right. But this band & this era… it was so amazing to be able to leave your stress behind & disappear into a darkened dance club… I so miss the 80’s- early 90’s. Dance clubs sadly disappeared…
Mega Club Classic despite the dodgy Lyrics. Great Voice,Mega Production. Thanks Empress xxxx By the Way,your Dog is super lush and Cute; If you think it appropriate, please give him a big Hug from Me xxxxx
Y is it that the younger Gen can’t handle something longer than 3min? I understand y but really. Do we understand that we’ve been programmed to be that way? But will listen to 6 songs with basically the same beats r lack thereof of anything substantial for 20min and feel as though it’s some form of depth in those songs?????
Their attention spans are shorter than those of previous generations. We now live in a faster-paced world with tons of distractions both online and in real life.
Nope. With this song, the groove is there, sounds good, can’t help moving when it comes on. The message though, “I don’t care what you do to them, just be good to me”. Nope. The person singing this song is an enabler. Telling him you can beat, lie to, steal from and abuse others out there in the world and she’s OK with that as long as he’s good to her. She’s selfish, a psychopath, she’s as much of a low down dirty dog as he is. She knows. She’s not a victim. If she only cares about herself and him she’s living in a very small and limited world. Nope.

Thanks for reacting to the SOS Band. They know how to bring it on every song.
I was gonna request this one, so I did a search and found this -- very cool that you've already heard it. One of my faves from the early '80s.
Another Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis Masterpiece ❤❤

They don't have any bands that showcase musicians.
I can't answer that🤣
Their attention spans are shorter than those of previous generations. We now live in a faster-paced world with tons of distractions both online and in real life.
The length allowed for you to enjoy the moment to the fullest. We aren’t about enjoying the moment in the moment anymore these days
The whole 12" never played right thru in the club anyway.
Nope.
