This is an R&B classic! Written and produced by hitmakers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. They were writing and producing for a few different artists on the Tabu Records label at the time. S.O.S. Band are great. I also love their songs "Take Your Time (Do It Right)", "Tell Me If You Still Care", and "Weekend Girl."
I was so lucky that I was spinning at weddings and parties during the 80s ... During this time everyone just wanted to have a good time and music had such a great beat and filling the floor was such a high. Miss those times. Thanks guys ❤❤😊
This was the full album version of this song, which is why it's playtime is a bit longer. If you like the S.O.S. Band, you'll probably want to check out their biggest hit at some point "Take Your Time (Do It Right)".
I remember the 1st time I heard this song. While visiting an old Navy buddy in New Orleans in 1983, the day after I was leaving to head home, Richard Pryor was doing a show at the Saenger Theater which I would have to miss and I was bummed, only to find out later that year, it was filmed and made into his live movie Here and Now, and this song was played for the closing credits! I was so immediately taken with it, that it was one of the few times I've ever stayed for the credits after a movie, until this song was over and I got to find out who it was. I have been a huge SOS Band fan ever since, and not very many songs where I can remember exactly where I was when I first heard them. Just The Way You Like, It is another great SOS Band song worth reacting to.
I do like this song..its groovy, really good for the dancefloor..but also for just listen to at home getting into the party mood,or maybe a workout with the dumbells..it has great pump, energizing, good melody....a great song with a touch of timeless of in it..
Dub group Beats International did a great cover of this track titled "Dub Be Good To Me" in the early '90s. It was a number 1 hit in the UK. Not quite as good as this version in my opinion but we'll worth checking out.
Damn, the memories growing up in Brooklyn as a kid back then. Riding our BMX bikes practicing tricks, tagging city buses and break dancing with our wind breaker and card board. Makes me sad thinking about how much time has passed
Used to own a nightclub in the 90s. There were certain songs that no matter the decade those songs always brought ladies to the dance floor. This was one of them for sure. Other ones were Meet me in the ladies room, Back to life by Soul ll Soul, Baby Love by Mothers Finest, It takes two by Rob Base, I’ve got the Power by SNAP, Summertime by Will Smith, Let the music Play by Shannon and of course many others! Good times! Thanks for the fun reactions
I watch you guys periodically, and just today I was listening to this song. I log into my computer, check in on youtube, and see this. At first I thought this was an old video, and I was a victim of internet spying. Then I realized that it's from today, and I realize that it's just a cool coincidence.
SOS were "all that and a bag of chips" back in the day. Put on any one of their hits and the dance floor would be crowded. Others have listed what those hits are and you can't go wrong with any one of them. Dive deeper.
Damn, I saw ; 'Just Be Good To Me' and immediatly thought it would be the 90's banger of Beats International.... You guys might wanna check that one too, cause it's such a beautiful jam and an early 90's classic.
Thats one of my all time faves since it was released. Thanks for taking this. So much great memorys comming up. Long time not listened to. There is a very similar one called "Just the way you like it" released straight after. Some say its even better than this one.
It pisses me off how majority of their music isn't on any streaming platforms. I'm guessing due to labeling issues. But SOS Band has such an amazing Discography that shouldn't be shelved. You guys should react to their song "No One's Gonna Love You".
Usually I'm not a fan of cover versions (or more to the point, I choose my cover versions very particularly) but here, the Dub version by Beats International, called "Dub be good to me" is much better.
My jam! Produced by princes musical offspring, Jimmy, jam, and Terry Lewis… another amazing and very soulful artist from this camp is Alexander O’Neill, who used to be a drummer in the Time..
Come on now, SOS band that got some bangers in the 80's. The late 70's - early 90's was the greatest time for music respectfully in my opinion. But if you 2 have time can you react to SOS Band "Tell Me If You Still Care About Me" ty both for this reaction.
Some other bands you might want to sample are Parliament Funkadelic " Tear the roof of the sucka " and Dr Funkenstein" ✔️ it out if you want to FUNK OUT!
I listened to the following album of the S.O.S. Band a million times in 84/85/86 (title "Just the way you like it" - like the hit song - only 7 mostly long songs in the album). The sound was the same... but in my opinion the melodies were slightly better and there was a much smoother sound to the album. Anyway... because I stumbled in very oddly after a long reaction session to ONE song... did you ever hear to Neneh Cherry? You were into Hip Hop a lot, right? Probably you heard her hit "Buffalo Stance" from '88. If not... maybe you wanna try it? In my opinion one of the greatest hip hop songs ever, but definitely from the 80s. Its so funky and "breakdancy" (if this is a word). Anyway - thanks a lot for your reaction like always 🙂
Glad the glass table is gone. But why's Phil on the right? anyhow, check out "Take Your Time" from the Live performance on Soul Train. So Great. Legendary song. It's the one worth reacting to, TBH.
This might actually be the worst song I've ever heard on your channel. AWFUL! You are right! This was the beginning of what is the music now. No musical instruments used.
"TELL ME IF YOU STILL CARE" by this band is an absolute must listen!

Band are great. I also love their songs "Take Your Time (Do It Right)", "Tell Me If You Still Care", and "Weekend Girl."
jam & lewis were unstoppable!
Now y’all are cooking with Crisco lard. This is a “rabbit hole” band here. Great choice.
This song is soooo fantastic, the synth is so intense.
I was so lucky that I was spinning at weddings and parties during the 80s ... During this time everyone just wanted to have a good time and music had such a great beat and filling the floor was such a high. Miss those times. Thanks guys ❤❤😊
SOS was the sh#$ back in the days 80's

Thanks for reviewing this song. Great melody and crazy lyrics.
This was the full album version of this song, which is why it's playtime is a bit longer.
If you like the S.O.S. Band, you'll probably want to check out their biggest hit at some point "Take Your Time (Do It Right)".

WOW! Haven't heard this in a looong time. Was big in to dance music before my metal years, believe it or not.
I agree Take your time is definitely a banger also The Finest is another good one.
I never want this song to end. It’s one of my top three favorite songs.

This is plain ole good jam!
I've heard a couple of recommendations in the comments, but did not run across THE FINEST, which is another good one by them.
I'd almost be willing to bet you've heard Take your time.I'll be looking for a reaction to it to see which of you might say "Hey, I know this!"
Love this one!
So glad yr doing my fav song of all time! I hope its the long version!!
One of my all time favorite funk songs
sos band is one of the greatest musicial groups ever that ruled the 1980's and truly one of my favorites to ever see in concert.

Great song. Just saw them 2+ years ago in Nashville.
Great song!! Hadn't heard this in a long time!! And yeah, this song had a lot of airplay back then and was played in the clubs too!

Beats International was yet another early alias of Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim. He appears on stage or in the video pretending to play bass guitar.
Damn, the memories growing up in Brooklyn as a kid back then. Riding our BMX bikes practicing tricks, tagging city buses and break dancing with our wind breaker and card board. Makes me sad thinking about how much time has passed
Finally?! My fav song of all time!!

Hey Guys Can you believe Never heard of them... Not bad. Sounds like a Moog synth. Syths was going on in the 70's with Gary Wright Try "Dream Weaver"
I'd forgotten them, myself. And I lived it. Sorry.
SOS were "all that and a bag of chips" back in the day. Put on any one of their hits and the dance floor would be crowded. Others have listed what those hits are and you can't go wrong with any one of them. Dive deeper.
My clubbing days right here ❤
S.O.S. Band is one of the best R & B Funk bands of their time. Play more of their songs and see how good they are.
I thought you guys would be on your feet, strutting your funky stuff! 🕺🏻😂👍
This same band did a song called "Weekend Girl". It's a different vibe, you should definitely check that one out.🫡
Damn, I saw ; 'Just Be Good To Me' and immediatly thought it would be the 90's banger of Beats International.... You guys might wanna check that one too, cause it's such a beautiful jam and an early 90's classic.

Are they still performing??
“Take Your Time Do It Right”
“Weekend Girl”
“The Finest”
“Tell Me If You Still Care”
“Just The Way You Like It”
“Borrowed Love”
All are bangers….

Wow. Never knew that. This was pre-Janet Jackson. They must have been in high demand.
Banger 🤘🤘
I had not heard this song in a long time - damn it sounds so good!!
Now you have to check out the Gap Band & the Dazz Band.

OH GOD YES!!!!!!
Now you're ready fof Tom Browne " Funkin' For Jamaica "
beats international (a band formed by fatboy slim (norman cook from the housemartins)) covered this song and took it to number one in the uk.
Sounds like late 70's to very early 80's.
1983
How about trying some UK R&B from the same time, I would suggest - loose ends, hanging on a string, or the cool notes singing spend the night.

This is a decent intro to the SOS band. However, this song is boring in comparison to their mega hit take your time.

Great song. "Borrowed Love" is another great one.
