About this video: On my channel, I post monthly videos compiled of clips of MBTA commuter trains on the Newburyport/Rockport Line, the eastern most commuter rail line on the north side of MBTA’s system. The line runs from Boston’s North Station to Beverly, where it then splits and continues on to both Newburyport and Rockport. In the June 2023 edition, clips that appear were filmed in the towns of Beverly, Hamilton, Ipswich, or Gloucester, Massachusetts.

4:35, Waaaaaa 1642 😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 The reason I say that is because it’s now gone FOREVER. 💔 But never gone forever and always remembered in our hearts.💕 Scrapped in May 2024 at Schnitzer Steel Scrap Yard in Everett, MA, along with 1627. R.I.P MBTA Bombardier CTC-1Bs 1989-2024, thanks for 35 years of wonderful service, you’ll be sorely missed by all of us rail fans including myself, but will never be forgotten, always in our hearts. Attention rail fans, catch 1647 while you can, it’s not going to be in service for long, the 1600s are now endangered, because there is only ONE remaining in service now.

The 1131 has actually been sent to Rochester since this video was taken. Got some clips of it on a middleboro extra that I hope to get posted in a few weeks

I found out some very depressing news yesterday, 1647 is the LAST remaining Bombardier CTC-1B cab car in service, catch it while you can railfanners. You’ll never hear good horns like the Bombardiers again. 1636 has been temporarily removed from service. 1626 & 1646, 1627 & 1642 have been scrapped at Schitzer Steel/Scrap Yard in Everett, MA. 1629 & 1644 will be next sometime next week.

I chased the work extra move in Everett this past Thursday dropping off the 1627 and 1642. Very sad for sure. Friend of mine said there would not be any more moves to Everett for scrap but anything’s possible i suppose

Ohh, wow man. Did you upload a video of the move on your channel? Would love to see a video of my beloved commuter rail cars being hauled by the work extra for scrap. They had a good 35 years of service and they’ll be sorely missed by every railfan. So sad. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I totally understand man, take your time. Sometimes it takes a while to catch up on videos. Do you know why there are going to be no more moves to Everett for scrapping? Reminds me of last year, when you had uploaded a video of the last two remaining CTC-3s 1522 and 1530 on the Newburyport/Rockport Line in June and July of 2023. Those will be missed also. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Thanks dude I appreciate your understanding. I heard somewhere it was too costly to pay the industry in Everett to scrap the cars at this time, but that’s not really confirmed. As for the 1500s, I sure do miss those as well. I hope to do a similar video this spring with the last few 1600s to ever be in operation

10:39, why is their black bumpers around 1631’s ditch lights on the front of the coach?

That’s where it got patched up. It got damaged after hitting a car in Ayer in 2020

Also, what was wrong with 1131's bell? It needs to be replaced. Shaky bell. Not a good sign right there.

I’m not sure what was wrong with it, but it is in Rochester for rebuild right now. I am sure it will get a new e-bell in that process

2:55, why does 1635 have an e-bell? Kinda weird hearing that type of bell on these older single-level comet cab cars. Also, I'm seeing less and less of these cab cars, they're dropping like flies, literally.😂

1635 was rebuilt after a derailment years ago, and part of that rebuilding process gave it an e bell. There are only about 12 of the 1600s left in revenue service now
