      Commuter rail is awesome. I live in Toronto and we have a good expansive commuter rail network that brings people from all parts of the GTHA to downtown for work. Commuter rail is way better than taking the subway or the bus based on the fact it's separated from all the traffic, and it can get you to places faster.

      I would love to visit Toronto to explore your transit system. Work hasn't sent me up there yet so it's gonna be on my tab haha!

    Why do most trains on the MBTA commuter rail have a one car one door policy? Why does the MBTA close off all cars except the first car? How come unlike other us railways, you can't choose which cars to be in?

    • @NTxRE
      @NTxRE  Год назад +1

      That's a good question! My best guess would be to give the conductor a chance to check everyone's ticket up front

      Can you not move between cars once you're inside?

      @@NTxRE I mean they seem to close off all cars except either the first or second. I feel like they are ignorant of how other commuter/regional passenger railways operated in the USA and the world.

      three big reasons, first reason being the doors are not automated therefore they need a conductor to open it, second being there isn't enough conductors on all trains so they just put everybody in 1-2 cars, and third reason to have all cars open, they need fully high level platforms at all stations, a lot of stations don't have that and is only at the newer stations, older stations don't have it and can take many years to make all 100+ stations fully high leveled

      It's pretty rare that I get to go to Boston for work but if I make it back out there I'll try to. Thanks for the suggestion!

      I bet there's too many to count! I'd be looking at a map all day! I'd like to ask you a question though, what do you think of the trouble the MBTA has been having recently?

    As far as I'm concerned this channel is just Rail & Elevator. You've really gotten away from your roots; thusly spurning your most DEDICATED fan base.
