      How do you know your well water is safe to drink? I think you should get a professional to install the pump, not because I dont think you're capable, but not testing your water is unsafe.

    We always propped the handle of the pitcher pump up in the winter so water wouldn't stand in the pipe. Then leave the pump head on.

    So, what you're saying is, all we need to do to use a hand pump in zero degree temperature is remove the protective cap, put the pump back on the well pipe and prime it. When done, remove the pump, open the check value and replace the cap. Right?

    Lots of work. Never did that as a Kid with our well. We used it all year around. Had a shed around it..to keep the leaves away from it and the birds, etc

    If pump is winterized, where do you get water from, during the cold winter, for shower and everyday life?

    • @SilverCymbal
      @SilverCymbal  Год назад +1

      If you plan to use it this way during freezing months its not easy but it works. You must prime and pump what you need and it can keep going for a while depending on temps. But if you plan to leave it you must open the valve I showed to let the pipe drain the water back down. You can do this all winter long, not perfect but its available for use.

    That white piece that stayed inside your PEX pipe you removed is a trap it's fine if you're going to reconnect that same part back to that same fitting but that fitting will be no use without that white piece

      That one is the stiffening sleeve from the sharkbite fitting you don't usually see them until the pipe is removed.

    What if you built your pump inside the shed? or built the shed after the pump?

    How deep is your frost line ? 6 feet deep here during hard year. Would that work ?

    • @SilverCymbal
      @SilverCymbal  2 года назад +3

      About 6 feet but that water depth is around 17 feet down. Here is when I put it in: ruclips.net/video/E-pn41fqYXs/видео.html

    Great video. Do you think that Battery Inflator will be enough to blow out an underground pipe with only a few sprinkler heads attached?

    • @SilverCymbal
      @SilverCymbal  2 года назад

      Thank you, no that little inflator just doesn't have enough. It's better than blowing though with your mouth and less powerful than a air compressor, sorry not the most scientific comparison there

    How deep is your well?
    My dad's is over 150 feet deep.
    Would like to a hand pump for emergencies.
    How could we do this?

    • @despoticmusic
      @despoticmusic 8 месяцев назад

      The amount you can lift water with a hand pump is limited to about 6 meters. You aren’t ever going to use a hand pump such as this to lift 150’.
