  • Tourists and locals captured images of the iconic Oceanside Pier Friday, one day after a devastating blaze erupted at the end of the structure.
    "We were in the middle of actually re-doing the concrete part," said Mayor Esther Sanchez. "That's like a $40 million dollar project. To have this happen, we're all brokenhearted."
    She said she's already gotten calls from state and federal leaders, offering their support in rebuilding the pier.
    Friday firefighters remained at the scene, watering down hot spots. The fire appears to have started in the old Ruby's Diner. So far, investigators have not determined what sparked the fire. The ATF is assisting in the investigation.
    Oceanside Fire Chief David Parsons said fire crews from multiple agencies worked through the night and were able to save 90% of the pier.

    So from the sound of it, Davin & Jessica Waite should be reembursing the City for the damage their establishment caused.

    FOUR CITY LIFEGUARDS EXTINGUISHED THE OCEANSIDE PIER FIRE as firefighters stood helplessly on the beach!!!! Fire trucks could not drive out onto the pier, and neither could firefighters. The fire chief never mentions that it was lifeguards, not firefighters that extringuished the fire!!! SHAMEFUL!!

      I’m all for the surfers! But for those who were not there, we can all clearly see on video that there were boats shooting water and a helicopter assisting. The fire continued over night. 4 lifeguards alone did not extinguish such a large fire on the pier.

      Misinformation !!! Many agencies were involved and actually on the pier fighting the fire!

  • @d1andonlydp

    They keep claiming that several departments were there. 🤷🏻‍♀️ but all those “departments” were unable to do much of anything. There were so many fire trucks and fire men standing around in front of my home and the pier. Even the boats could only assist a little. The 1st helicopter came about 50 mins after the start. So sad 😢 They were definitely not prepared for such a situation which is Very concerning and disappointing. Imagine if it burned at the entrance or middle of the pier and was summer, full of tourists. I live by the pier and can see it :( and who cares what Esther and Levin think. How about the locals and businesses who are next to the pier?! This is more of a “press junket” 🤨

      @frankmully I am willing to bet that they will blame this fire on an electrical fire! That is my guess! But they wont admit to arson if it was arson! It will known as an electrical fire!

      They explained why they let it burn. As this point, that section of the Pier is done, it will be demolished after the fire is completely out. So really, all they are doing at this point is getting the fire out as safely as possible.

      It's pretty straight forward my guy, if you can think. A no fly zone is in place to commercial aircraft, in order to assure the saftey of the flight crews still fighting the fire. Why is that so hard to comprehend?

      @yranidiot 19 дней назад

      @@GregoryCunningham “my guy” are they doing water drops from a aerial tankers for a pier fire? Is that why they have a no fly zone lol what’s your thinking why they closed the beach 🙄

      @@yranidiot Bro, you're going to want to delete this comment, trust me. You're coming off as incredibly slow. They don't want civilian helicopters and small aircraft in the area, especially since they still are using their own aircraft. How are you not understanding something so simple. 🤣
