    Let's be honest here : you're making the best videos about watches I've ever seen, I've ever dreamt of, actually. The cinematography is perfect, every single picture is absolutely beautiful, the review is built like a story, but is always insightful, even the music is chosen with great taste (Bach here, for a German watch). It's like you've taken inspiration from other watch channels but you turn it into something new and truly amazing. I wish you the best. Every watch geek should subscribe to this channel. Great work! Thanks

    Building an all-purpose watch seems to be one of the most difficult tasks in luxury watch design. To me the Sinn 556I is one of the best allrounders in the field of mechanical watches, no matter which price point you are looking at. Arguably the best alternative that is also capable of doing it all seems to be the Rolex Explorer 214270 which is far more expensive. Even though it is much cheaper than the Rolex the quality and reliability of the Sinn is impeccable. Compared to the Rolex the Sinn has the benefit of drilled lugholes, so you can easily dress it up or down using different straps, plus it has a date function.

    The problem with this Sinn is that the antireflective coat is on top of the crystal and gets scratched easily. Looking at a scratched crystal all day would drive me crazy.

    • @cresperion
      @cresperion 5 лет назад

      Do you own this watch and see scratches all over the crystal? Or do you just assume that the antireflecrive coating scratches easily but actually have not experienced it with this watch in person?

    • @aa39545n
      @aa39545n 5 лет назад

      @@cresperion No, I do not own this watch. Materials that has high Mohs hardness scale number don't scratch. Such as sapphire. AR coat is a 6.5 Mohs harness. That means it will scratch (science). But, maybe you should buy it and experience for yourself. Maybe yours well defy science.

    • @cresperion
      @cresperion 5 лет назад +2

      I simply wanted to make the point that just because it has outer AR coating doesn't mean it gets "scratched easily". While the hardness is certainly less than sapphire, it is still above mineral crystal, on par or even above hardened mineral crystal. Furthermore, there are different coating qualities and I have not heard many bad things about the Sinn coating regarding scratches (mainly from people that assume it will scratch but actually have no direct experience...like you). The 2 year old watch from the video also doesn't really show a scratched crystal. Also, if it gets scratches, they will most likely be tiny and barely visible as the depth of the scratch cannot be more than the thickness of the AR coating, which is minute. Lastly, if one actually gets a scratch that is bothering, one can simply remove the AR coating in 10 min. Until then, I personally find the superior, glare-free view through the crystal worth it.

    • @sehnsuchtstraeger
      @sehnsuchtstraeger 5 лет назад +2

      @@cresperion He's right, the AR coating does scratch. I have this watch and the coating on them has some scratches. Not that a big deal for me but if it's important for someone, the fact is the coating does scratch. İ still love it very much, the simplicity and the size and the bracelet.

    • @fluffyman15
      @fluffyman15 4 года назад

      @@sehnsuchtstraeger I suppose/hope you actually have to look for these scratches under the right light to see them? And won't see them when you just look at it casually to read the time?

    • @StatueCollecting
      @StatueCollecting Год назад

      @@hyprz No, I have not. The actually printing on the dial indices are off so a local watch repairer won't simply have a Sinn i556 brand new black dial handy to swap it out. Local watch repairers are not to be trusted in my opinion unless you are doing a simple resize. I rather send it to a authorized Sinn watch repairer regardless if it's a simple dial swap. I forgot the exact name but it's RGM a specific USA based watch repairer that Sinn or watchbuys recommends doing service on Sinn watches. I emailed him and he never replied back to me even after I said I out of my pocket would pay for the repair, he never replied back to my email. Beware because Sinn and watchbuys did me really wrong. I would have bought another Sinn but the bad taste in my mouth that Sinn has left me made me disgusted with the brand.

    • @StatueCollecting
      @StatueCollecting Год назад

      @@hyprz I potentially have great news and should thank you for it. Because of your reply it got me to contact Sinn and RGM I believe that's the authorized repairer for Sinn watched in North America. Long story short after speaking to RGM customer service rep they told me they would send a email that I could provide pictures to see if they could do something about it. I sent the pictures and the reply I got is they couldn't do anything but today I received a new email saying Sinn would cover the replacement of the dial. So thank you for bringing this back up or I would have a brand new watch sitting in my safe and still be upset. Now I am somewhat happy and hoping I could one day use my Sinn i556, if they fix my watch I will have to go back on everything I said about Sinn online to report this great news. Will give a follow up when I get back the watch, it might take a while.

      On the other end, bought a 556a early 2019. Works on leather, rubber, nylon, the dimensions are perfect and with a 200 meter depth rating, it’s really a timepiece you never have to worry about.

    This is the absolutely the best review of any watch that I have ever seen. I actually have a Damasko DA36 and DA46 and I enjoy them both. Since leaving the Sinn team and starting his own Damasko line, it's very obvious to see why the DA36 is so similar to the Sinn 556i. They are both stunning in their own right, but I must say that I now want to own a 556i. I sadly traded my awesome Sinn U1 a few years back, but I loved the bracelet ( which looks identical, on a smaller level ) to the one on the 556i. My next watch purchase will be the 556i on the bracelet, as it simply exudes class. On a side note, I also love the Sinn U1b, as that cool matte blue with matching rubber strap is also calling my name. I do own an early iteration of the Omega Planet Ocean, so I do enjoy the Swiss style as well. I find that the value of the entry level Sinn and Damasko are simply very hard to beat. With my latest above rambling on, I realize just how much I dig this watch world. At any rate, the Sinn 556i and the video are pure class. I just subscribed and keep up the great work...

    When I first got into watches I liked larger sizes and more shouty "look at me" designs. As I refined my taste over the next couple of years I realised I much prefer watches on the smaller side (38mm-40mm) and designs that look like they're a part of you, instead of something that stands out and demands attention. For these reasons I think this Sinn 556i is the best looking watch on the market. Can't wait to purchase one - I own many watches but I expect this to be the one that gets the most wrist time.

    Lovely review- your images really show off the beauty of this watch well, and the music for once is unobtrusive, and your comments are occasional but important and to the point. An understand and excellent review

    Perfect size for my 6.5" wrist. The diameter of 38.5mm is important, but the 46mm lug-to-lug length tells me it will hug my wrist. Regarding the 556i's value for money, well I still find myself returning to Stowa. Enjoyed your review, and the tastefull fading in/out of the music.

    Beautiful review, you are a horological poet! There's plenty of places I can go to for my full technical data, but at the end of the day the buy-not-buy decision is always based on emotions and that's what you address. Now I promised myself I won't buy another watch due to all this pandemic and the resulting economic uncertainty, so if I do buy a Sinn it's your fault, OK? :)

    Great video! Could you tell us what's your wrist size ? (So I can get an idea of how good or bad it would look on my tiny wrist).

    Your view on watches is quite realistic unlike the more popular YT watch chanels. I share your enthousiasm about Sinn. Just bought a 556 IB and it's an absolute stunner. Though I think it's formal capabilities are somewhat limited. In the end it remains an elegent tool/field watch and not really a dresser. I wish you good luck and take care. Cheers from The Netherlands.

    I love the design, but for this kind of money I'd might like a better movement than the 2824.
    What grade of 2824 is it?

    • @otobotrecords

      Top grade like in all Sinn watches with ETA movement.

    @YoureTerrific I'd be interested to know why it was getting so little wrist time that you chose to sell it. Thanks. Cool vids.
