This is probably the best movie I've seen. It is amazing! I love everything, but most especially how it's written. Such a brilliant mind to create this movie.
Brought me into a world of different emotions.
The idea of being able to meet your parents when you are mature and your parents are more or less the same age, and can have a mature conversation about your childhood, where mistakes can be owned and memories can be talked over in such a gentle, honest and self-responsible way, is very poignant.
It's easy to see how Andrew Scott so nailed his performance. Even being himself, he emotes with his hands, with his legs and with his face. He's a natural born actor!
One of the best films of the decade... I was lucky enough to see it in Australia in one of the few indie cinemas that are playing it , and there is no legal way to watch this here online yet..... But I almost had to walk out of the film during the coming out to Mum scene as it was word for word for my own experience with my mother in the 1980's.
Movie was beautiful, and it's obvious the entire cast really dove into it full heartedly. I had a hard time not getting wrapped into it despite being aware of how deeply dramatic the story was
Moderator kept interrupting them before they finished their thoughts :( i feel like for in-depth conversations like these it's so much more enjoyable when the actors and directors are allowed to speak
You are correct her interruption was irritating and distracting from the actors and director!
Such a fantastic movie.
When Andrew couldn’t think of a similar film about loneliness, love and that supernatural element, I thought of the wonderful Truly, Madly, Deeply.
Weekend tells an equally emotional story about loneliness and is made by the same director. Highly recommend if you haven’t had the chance to see it!!

I would say that another film on these themes is Ildikó Enyedi's On Body and Soul from 2017. One of my favourites!

And now their film is not to be released on DVD or Blu ray - only streamed, so preventing access to many potential audiences. What is going on?
Blame Disney. They own Fox Searchlight and have no interest in physical media.
I watched this on Amazon this past week and I'm in utter disbelief that it got zero nominations - and I say this as someone who loves Barbie and Oppenheimer - All of Us Strangers really was the best film of 2023. Wish I got to see this masterpiece sooner.
Usually films get to DVD eventually, which is really nice when it's a classic on Criterion with additional chat. Or just making it available from the public library.

Janet Maslin should be quiet and listen ....... stop talking!
I might agree if her questions were superficial or cliched. But actually I feel they exhibit a keen sensitivity to so many facets of the film -- writing, directing, acting, visual design and cinematography -- and as a result bring forth some terrific answers. (Very good questions from the sudience too.) Bell, Scott and Haigh all seem exceptionally relaxed and open. Of all the interviews I've seen around All Of Us Strangers, this is the only one by a film critic with such longtime experience and in-depth knowledge, and that's a big positive. Thank you.
Despite her reputation, and many past achievements, Janet Maslin does not seem a good interviewer for this film. Her hesitancy, her constant “ums” and “ars”, plus her many interruptions were far from helpful. Then her inappropriate attempts at humour just distracted from the power of the film and the issues it was addressing. Still Scott and his colleagues brought a fascinating depth of understanding to the discussion that is not normal in such interviews. The Billy Elliot comment Maslin made was ghastly and led to a long, jumbled and feeble series of questions that Jamie Bell answered far better than she deserved. All in all, I felt she simply lacked the sensitivity to deal with this powerful, sophisticated and emotionally sensitive masterwork and it was a great achievement on the part of the actors and director that we still ended up with some valuable insights into its production.
OMG, it was a conversation! And Maslin knows what she's talking about. I think people's negative reaction to her is possibly exacerbated because she was not seen on screen and therefore felt like an extraneous presence.
The lady interviewing needs to stop interrupting so much.
