Its not the order of things. Parents shouldn't bury their child and I feel so sorry for all of them. Politicians think their right to own a gun supercedes a childs right to live a normal and safe life. How absolutely selfish.

As a parent of twins in Elementary now transitioning to middle ..AS A PERSON PERIOD!!!! The reality in this day and age is that this could be me, my sister, my neighbor ..MY COMMUNITY ..to experience this AND IT IS WRONG !! WE HAVE TO FIGHT FOR GUN REFORM IN THIS COUNTRY FOR OUR FUTURE!!!!! The fear, sorrow, worry, heartache is palpable in thes parents !!! I pray for all yalls little Angels !! TEll us WHAT TO DO HOW??? TO H.E.L.P !! Because i feel helpless on this issue ESP. as a citizen who resides in Texas !

I still want to know who sold the gun to this shooter? Is there any responsibility - or shame - in the hearts/minds of the people who sell these weapons?! I know, it was technically legal, but why aren't the news media 'outing ' the sellers of these weapons of mass murder? Why aren't there protests in front of these establishments!? There needs to be some accountability at this level - at least shunning by the community.

First of all, I really, really am sorry for the victims and their families, as this never should have happened.
Second of all, there is absolutely NO reason why assault weapons are not banned. These weapons are not supposed to be in the hands of civilians. To those who claim that guns are not the problem, you are incomprehensively wrong. It is a mix of both guns and mental health, but not one or the other. Also, look at other nations that have strict gun laws. Their mass shootings are not NEARLY as high as the US. Those people who still want guns and even more guns rights are the true enemy of these shootings, as they have no idea how much this is affecting our country. Grow up, accept that we WILL change these laws, and realize that these weapons do not and WILL not be allowed. And understand that bullying me or others will not change our minds.

Criminals do not follow the law. We don't have serious red flag laws for the mentally ill as far as universal background checks. We need one age to be an adult 18 or 21!!! Make up your mind America. One age to buy a gun.

Guns dont kill people, People kill people. If you dont fix the root cause of mass shooting, which is figuring out what drive them to commit these horrible acts in the first place, then we will never see any real progress in society. Taking guns away people just give the government more power. Plus, if the driving forces are still there bad people will find a way to get guns or other ways to achieve what they want.
Of course figuring out the driving force that push people to commit these acts are way way harder and more costly than just simply ban guns. And politicians love instant gratification and easily marketable solutions. We all want the same thing. But the way we see and approach the issue is different.
There can many different reasons for mass shootings - insanity, political ideology, racism, misogyny, social isolation, etc.
However, the biggest reason is access to guns. Access, that’s it. This is what blood lust and irresponsibility leads to - an entire country that’s unsafe from the most depraved among us.

Guns DO kill people. Look at other countries with strict gun laws, such as the UK. They don't have NEARLY as many mass shootings as the US. It's both a gun problem and mental health problem. And I will never change my firm knowledge, not just belief, that assault weapons DO NOT belong in civilian hands.

The real fix is not taking guns away, but put police officers at every school with guns, or make every school teacher carry in school. Imagine walking into a school with 20 teacher with Guns. I agree with everything except that the background check system needs to be tougher . I was blocked from buying a gun over a battery charge, although they told me they couldn’t see why. I hadn’t even gone to court for it yet and I was already in the system. I’m glad though , because I was planning on harming myself.

@Frank Reynolds and criminals who use guns during commission of a crime should be locked up for years but they aren't. They are given a slap on the wrist and released back to society with a no cash bail or a plea deal. I'll believe that legislators care about our safety when criminals are held accountable. Period.
