Like one of the other posters here I had a video of Peter performing this on a compilation tape of various artists. There were some great players on there but this was a standout piece for me. I managed to contact Peter about it and he posted me the tab (as in old school paper in an envelope) which was incredibly kind of him. Not only an amazing player and composer but a great guy.
Although Birkenhead is not even remotely as famous as the place on the other side of the river ( Liverpool ) , we have had an international guitar festival here since the late 80s. Amongst the very many guitarists I've seen as a result, only two stand out as true world beaters, Stepan Rak and Peter Finger.
I remember watching Peter perform this on a guitar video series so long ago. The hair was long and jet black back then, but the fingers are still as masterful as ever. Thanks for this great performance and memory.
Yes it was on a Stefan Grossman guitar video. I remember watching with a bunch of guitar buddies one night while we were getting wasted. This piece and one by buster Jones absolutely stole the show.

This beautiful tune has the guitar tuned from low to high as follows, 6-1: EBEGAD (The 6th string E and 3rd string G are the same as in Standard Tuning). This tuning produces some interesting harmonic possibilities I hadn't heard before. 😎
