Peter Finger has accomplished something that few people achieve in our day: the perfect harmony of virtuosity, musicality and composition. His musical cosmos is boundless, showing profound knowledge of both music history and the contemporary state of the art.
The attentive listener will therefore encounter the tonal language of Debussy, Ravel or Stravinsky time and again - and, in the same breath, perhaps find himself in the realm of rock. Or he will marvel at Finger‘s almost orchestral, sometimes breathtaking, experimental tapestry of rhythm, harmony and melody. It should definitely be mentioned that all of this fuses together organically instead of just standing side by side without any connection. This is why Peter Finger‘s music is always a great sensual pleasure, far removed from any type of intellectual coolness - both demanding and stimulating at the same time.
Born in Weimar in 1954 to a conductor father, Peter began violin lessons at age 6 and later learned to play piano. He has played guitar since age 13 and made his first recording in 1973. Since then, he has made numerous recordings in Germany, Italy, England and the USA - for Kicking Mule Records, Stockfisch, Edition Collage and (since 1989) for Acoustic Music Records.
Since 1976, he has made many successful tours in Germany, the USA, Canada, Japan, England, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Finland, Poland, Estonia and Russia. In 1988, he established his own music publishing company and the Acoustic Music Records label. He is the producer of dozens - some prize-winning - CDs in the blues, jazz and worldmusic genres. Since 1995, Peter Finger has been the publisher of the Akustik Gitarre magazine.
