Thank you for trying this Julie, and for the mention 😊. As for the mold imprint, I have only had two of my viewers mention this so far, and only one came back to me saying that it definitely disappeared on their next pour but it could be due to the softness of your silicone. Keep us updated please, it is still in the experimenting phase, I have an alternative method which will protect any mold coming soon 😊
You are read my mind 😍 When i see that technique Daniel's video first time, i thinking what this look like Julie's crystal edge mold 😍 And now you do it ❤ I love this ❤
I really like this. It is delicate and the gold around it just added to it. Thank you for showing us how to do this. I am sending up a prayer in hopes of your being safe. Have a blessed day 🥰🥰🥰
Wow that's cool that you can etch something into the mold! You may have stumbled onto something new here! My hears are turning in my head on the possibilities it could be used foe!
Love this butterfly etching on mold colour is gorgeous thought you were going to do the edges silver but still looks great really do like Daniel Cooper's channel he is always doing amazing experiments for us 1🤗🤗🤗
I suggested this to Daniel too but an easy way to get the stencil out without the chance of scrathing your mold would be to put a small pc of tape on one of the edges so you will have something to pull it up with.
Kudos to you for trying the etching cream, and even making a coaster with the mold you considered ruined. And then sharing with us too. That color is amazing and the end product is lovely. ❤
Love it ❤️ I'd love to see more stuff like this, it's different and I've got loads of stencils and stickers etc that I have no idea what to do with. We buy all this stuff cause it looks pretty and then we don't know what to do with it 🤷 😂 xx
I love it! The crystal edge mold really goes well with this technique. I also saw Daniel Cooper’s videos when he experimented with the lotion, and I really want to try it. Your video reinforces that. On a side note, glass etching cream is made up of chemicals such as sulphuric acid, so I’m not surprised it etched the mold. As someone else here commented, you can rescue your mold by pouring a thin layer of the same silicone on the bottom. It won’t be as deep, but there’s plenty you do that doesn’t require all that depth anyway.
Hi Julie, the reason that the hand cream may have damaged your mold is due to Many hand lotions and creams often use synthetic petrochemicals, artificial fragrances, harsh chemicals, the petrochemical causes a reaction with the silicon, your coasters/resin work is great and I have learnt so much from your videos, also I am glad to know that I can follow someone that is in Australia and works to our climate
You are a brave, brave woman. Glass etching cream contains sulfuric acid - that is likely what burned your silicone mold. I watched Daniel's videos using baby lotion, but I haven't tried it because I don't have any. I have been thinking of trying it with a different lotion - something I already have 😊. The results both of you have achieved are fabulous.
This is cool I must say! But everything you do I love ❤️! I was scrolling and I usually don't stop but I was curious on this pyramid I kept seeing people making. I thought I would ask you, do you think you can try your hand on making a pyramid with a light inside???!!! I know you can do it !!! I will be watching to see you make your own pyramid. Have a awesome day!❤🎉😊
*THAT is amazing,* Julie; putting that GLASS etching cream on silicone! Girl, you've invented something new!!! 😊💗👍 The hummingbird coaster turned out gorgeous! Oh, I hope you keep it and make more! I can see you filling the bird or any stencil with chameleon, mica, or metallic powders, then filling with clear or black! Yummy! I hope the baby lotion didn't permanently mark your beautiful mold, though. LOVE the clear edges on the "flutter-by" coaster. GORGEOUS! 😍💗😊 I was 6 before my mom could convince me they were *butterflies*. I mean...they weren't pats of butter with wings, nor did they look *anything* like flies! 😅
If you try it.... Please please be aware of the fact that you are literally mixing chemicals if you put etching cream (which is sulfuric acid) into resin which is already literally a chemical reaction in silicone which again...... The fumes you are potentially exposing yourself too is just wild.
@decadeofmcfly That's very true, mixing chemicals can be deadly. This is why I use a full face mask, air scrubbers, and open doors and windows, if possible.
Yeah you found the video. I like them better with clear resin, but would like to see if you could color in the butterfly with mica powder then clear over it again
Really like this technique and it is very pretty. Do you think you lost a bit of the red/purple from the centre when you closed it up. I think silver in the centre would look beautiful. ❤
Julie this has been dubbed the swipe and wipe I believe. Daniel has used the same mold and it hasn't hurt the molds from what I've seen. I'm waiting on my stencils to try this! I'm looking at mandala stencils. So much fun. Have you tried the shampoo drip he does? Perfect little round pearl or opal looking. Way cool! Thank you for sharing Julie! ❤❤❤
It looks great. I really like the clear Crystal edges. I have experienced the UV light leaving the light pattern images on a mold. It didn’t affect a regular resin pour. ❤ I haven’t tried this technique yet. Thanks for sharing ❤
Oh, etched molds. Cast in that and see if you get a frosted image. You can sell that. 😅 It shouldn't hurt the mold. I think soap and water will clean it up.
Have you tried unicone crused Crystal powder? Its like a super fine glitter and it doesnt sink. You only need a very small amount and the clear pops. It's Gorgeous!
Hi Julie! Could you possibly use a high viscosity UV resin in the stencil?? I also was going to suggest maybe a thin layer of silicone on the permanently etched mold? 💜💙💜
I can't wait to try this. I saw Daniel Cooper do this. I have a strange question. Where do you get your piping bags from, locally I can only get the clear thin playable plastic and it doesn't work well.
What if you cut a round piece of cling wrap to sit in your mold before putting the stencil down w/baby lotion? That would give the bottom of your mold a barrier while saving the mold. I have tried Daniels technique on an older mold and it did work w/o ruining my mold but I am scared to try it on more expensive molds w/o some sort of barrier.
There is such thing as spray on & paint on paint they call frosted. But to truly etch all you need is diamond bits & a dremel ie rotary tool, trace the design on the glass with a marker I use permanent black ones then go over it with which ever bit you choose until all the black is gone.
Don't know if it would work but maybe try dusting the burned stencil patter on the other mold with mica or chameleon powder and see what happens. Cant hurt to try!
Perhaps washing the mold in warm soapy water will remove that film from the lotion? I’m not a resin artist, just thinking if that might work or will it damage the mold? 🤔

Thanks for the info!
have y’all tried different lotions? i have about ten gallons of lotion because i’m *that person,* but no baby lotion 😐
If you get small stencils and a decent sized flat mould you could test a bunch at once lol. @@pupawupagus
@@pupawupagus i used a thick face cream and it worked a treat
@@soapmaker-y8d oh good, thank you!! 🙏
If you want to save the etched mold, you could pour a thin layer of silicone into it and make it smooth again
Turned out fantastic! I never would have dreamed in a million years that baby lotion would have etched resin. Learn something every time I watch you!😊
I love how you always make sure to give the proper credit to whoever you got the idea from, because alot of people don't. Much respect ❤.
He is the best. Watch him after you
I love Dans videos and experiments. The butterfly is lovely!
Me too!!
The butterfly is beautiful! Would love to see a dragonfly!
That is such a cool idea for permanently etching a mold. To do it on purpose!! I would love if you poured into the humming bird mold.
I think Daneil Cooper suggested using an old mold for this technique. But your butterfly is beautiful.
9:47 show off! (yes that means i’m super jealous)
thank you for sharing your work. stunning as always 🥰
You are read my mind 😍 When i see that technique Daniel's video first time, i thinking what this look like Julie's crystal edge mold 😍 And now you do it ❤ I love this ❤
Love watching Daniel Cooper's channel. You did him proud 💚🦋
Oh cool I see Daniel do this, his amazing
So beautiful..I love it so much..
Daniel Cooper is a fav.. love his experiments and ideas.. ❤😊
Adorable 😻
Now studio tour, cause I dribble every time we see a little peek 🫣
Whenever you use paper towels on your molds or resin pieces I want to yell “nooooo”. Beautiful work. Well done
That’s so pretty, love the colour and crystals too, great job❤
It's beautiful. It's one of a kind and I love it. Keep the mold
I really like this. It is delicate and the gold around it just added to it. Thank you for showing us how to do this. I am sending up a prayer in hopes of your being safe. Have a blessed day 🥰🥰🥰
Love it and the hummingbird
Wow that's cool that you can etch something into the mold! You may have stumbled onto something new here! My hears are turning in my head on the possibilities it could be used foe!
Gears not hears 😆
Try using a pallette knife. It has flexibility. I love Daniel's experiments of late. Its good to see you giving him credit. Nicely done. 😊
Love this butterfly etching on mold colour is gorgeous thought you were going to do the edges silver but still looks great really do like Daniel Cooper's channel he is always doing amazing experiments for us 1🤗🤗🤗
It's very beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
That was fun, I also enjoy watching Daniel Cooper. I love the beautiful coaster. ❤❤

I use this technique often and have no problems with the molds.
This is great i always watch u to see what i can put in resin an odd time urs may not come out as u expect but they still look beautiful 😊😊😊😊
For the etching cream, did you try making the coaster first, then apply the etching cream directly to the resin mold?
The etching cream is only for glass.
Daniel uses I think the Let’s Resin moulds which are more like harder plasticy ones. Your butterfly turned out lovely!
Would it save your mold, if you put a thin layer of resin in first, and then put the stencil on and made your design then?
I would love to see another pour in the etched mold, interested in seeing if that is a good technique for a mold.
Love it ❤️ I'd love to see more stuff like this, it's different and I've got loads of stencils and stickers etc that I have no idea what to do with. We buy all this stuff cause it looks pretty and then we don't know what to do with it 🤷 😂 xx
It marred my silicone molds. I’m now trying a piece of PET plastic under the stencil now.
Julie this is beautiful. I love that you tried after watch Daniel Cooper! Keep on creating!! 🤗💕💙

Love those results and i would definetely reuse the bird mold, not throw it away
Use mica powder on the bird one and wipe off extra only leave it in indents

very beautiful , i love it , i will try it. 😃
Very cool, i will be laser cutting myself some custom stencils for this i think, that way i can make them round to fit in the mold :)
I love the bird
Perhaps it’s because the mould is as smooth as a babies bum! 😉It might absorb like skin does. The butterfly looks beautiful.❤
It turned out beautiful, love Mr. cooper. Your mold is fine, cannot see a thing on it.
these are absolutey amazing i've also just received my dog mold and omg the quality is awesome need to now order the coaster mold thanks xx
It looks beautiful love the bird mold .
I've watch Daniel Cooper do this but he didin't do such a large stencil I think it turned out Beautiful!!!!
Looks really cool
Beautiful!

Can use Vaseline
It might be worth a try, using the chameleon, micro powders, and that wouldn’t scratch your molds, and give you a beautiful effect just a thought❤❤❤
Very cool process
I don’t consider that mold ruined at all! I think that’s cool as heck!!
So Pretty ❤
This is cool I must say!

That is so pretty! I love that color! I was wondering if that technique would work with two-part resin as well. Thanks!
Wow this is so cool. ❤❤❤
Today’s video was so interesting and the result so beautiful!I personally prefer it without the gold outline ❤
I did this months ago using mica. With the exact same stencil.
Cool idea
Julie this has been dubbed the swipe and wipe I believe. Daniel has used the same mold and it hasn't hurt the molds from what I've seen. I'm waiting on my stencils to try this! Turned out great!
Very pretty
That was absolutely amazing. Thank you. 😊😊
Ohhhhhh... you should do those holo papers in there and make a suncatcher
It looks great. I really like the clear Crystal edges. I have experienced the UV light leaving the light pattern images on a mold. It didn’t affect a regular resin pour. ❤ I haven’t tried this technique yet. Thanks for sharing ❤
You should try it first before you toss in the bin. And love love the etching
They are beautiful, what about painting the butterfly in gold also?
It's gorgeous! I love the clear around the edge.
Gorgeous 🥰💙
Absolutely beautiful, I love it 😍
Oh, etched molds. Cast in that and see if you get a frosted image. You can sell that. 😅
It shouldn't hurt the mold. I think soap and water will clean it up.
I wonder what would happen if you made a silicone inlay of the stencil, then put that in the bottom of whatever piece you want to cast the resin in.
Have you tried unicone crused Crystal powder? Its like a super fine glitter and it doesnt sink. You only need a very small amount and the clear pops. It's Gorgeous!
You can use the stencils with the mica powder as well. I did one on a coaster.
This is really neat! I have never seen this technique before! It came out amazing!!!
Hi Julie! Could you possibly use a high viscosity UV resin in the stencil?? I also was going to suggest maybe a thin layer of silicone on the permanently etched mold? 💜💙💜
Wow, that looks like etched glass.
I can't wait to try this. I saw Daniel Cooper do this. I have a strange question. Where do you get your piping bags from, locally I can only get the clear thin playable plastic and it doesn't work well.
Ebay
it turned out awesome!
Try the etching cream on resin after it's fully cured. It works. I've done it a few times.
It didn't work for me
try a silicon type edge tool . beautiful job
After you etch you can color over it with sharpie and wipe the etching will take on the color
It turned out really pretty! 😍 I do think that this is a technique to use only on cheap molds you don't mind hurting though. 😅
Amazing
Hope your mold is ok❤
What if you cut a round piece of cling wrap to sit in your mold before putting the stencil down w/baby lotion? That would give the bottom of your mold a barrier while saving the mold. Don't know if it would work but maybe try dusting the burned stencil patter on the other mold with mica or chameleon powder and see what happens. Cant hurt to try!
Try washing your mold with a little warm water and Dawn dish soap. It should get yhe oil residue off. Just remember to rinse thoroughly when done
Would it help to colour the baby lotion?
Beautiful! Can you use any lotion?
Tim Holtz uses a small plastic pallet knife when spreading his pastes over stencils, so that might give you a bit of control because of the angle.
Since the lotion is basically oil would it be better to use soap and water on the mold?
Perhaps washing the mold in warm soapy water will remove that film from the lotion? I’m not a resin artist, just thinking if that might work or will it damage the mold? 🤔
