I've started taking walks by the river with my son. I take photos of wildlife and it inspires me to come home and sketch what I've seen. I enjoyed this video! Please do more like this.

Im always trying to get closer and closer to nature. It is my happy place, so this sounds like another wonderful way to enjoy it and be at one with it too. Finding your site today has really cheered me up. I live just off the Antrim coast in Northern Ireland. Yvonne

I’ve read a few of the comments, but I don’t have time to read all of them. What I would like to say, is when you first start your journal, and you keep going in it, you can look back later at how much progress you’ve made. You can see how your thoughts and ideas, the way that you think, how you drew and sketched and colored, what piques your interest, and how you arrange your pages… You can look back and see how all of that has changed over time. Growth. I think it’s a wonderful thing. I love how you started, something new, and that you are embracing it. You are very brave and courageous.

I also love the idea of nature journalling after being inspired by The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady. It’s beautiful and I’d love to recreate something similar to record the changing seasons in my local area. Thank you for another wonderfully inspiring video, I really just need to give it a go!

I can see the artist within, Molly - your drawings are beautiful and please don’t underestimate your creative and artistic sensibility. It’s so obvious and I’m excited for this part of your journey. Being vulnerable takes true courage and showing your art to us is already evidence that you are an artistic soul. Don’t forget to make your creativity playtime too, it’s amazing what emerges from within when we let go of expectations and relax, even sing and dance in our creating on paper or whatever the medium we choose.

Hi there, wonderful though are the words of the Brontes.
You cannot go far wrong reading the poems and writings of Anna 'Nan' Shepherd; especially 'In The Cairngorms' and 'The Living Mountain'.
She captures much of the essence of weather, language and the culture of small Scottish communities

When I watch your vlogs, they always give me a nice calm.
When I was a child I was given two nature diaries. “The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady” by Edith Holden. I remember sitting and looking at them for hours, and they are still (now forty years later) some of my most treasured books.
    Best wishes, Mette (Denmark) 😊

Lovely paintings. I've found blending and leaving bits of the page bare help to convey light and shade. And to use darker colours mixed with original colour not black to convey shade.

Lovely vlog! Yes, when you start to paint, you start to see properly. If you want your colours in your leaves to blend more naturally, wet the leaf first and then drop the colours in and let the paint do the rest, you can always blot out excess paint with a tissue and then leave it to dry naturally, always looks good!x

Love this and congratulations on embracing it for yourself. I do a bit of this and will continue. I’m not a trained drawer/painter either. What I love about my doodling is that it is all me. No one else will draw quite like I do. It’s a wonderful self-expression. 🍃🍂🎨👩‍🎨

To blend your colours you will need better quality paints. I recommend W&N Cotman paints for beginners, they are not chalky like your current set and are still budget paints so won’t break the bank 😅 Looking forward to seeing more of your nature sketches 😊

I really enjoy nature journalling too. I agree you notice so many details. Like you, I prefer to take pics then do the journal when I get home. I use colouring pencils, and enjoy building up layers and shading. I really struggle with perfectionism, and I found this has been a way to help me let go of that and just have a go! I love your inclusion of a poem, I might try that too! Sadly my journalling is on pause at the moment, but hope to get back to it soon ❤

I haven't startet a nature journal yet (I would love to!), but this year I collected herbs to create a herbarium. That also is a lot of fun! And I also want to do more nature writing, maybe I will connect it with some drawing. I always liked to draw and sketch even though I also am not very talented in this field - but during Covid I startet sketching and really became better and better. It is also a process and I think it is important (and a good life lesson) to believe in this and to allow myself not being "perfect" and just start with the skills I got.

Your artwork is beautiful. We take so much for granted downt we, our lives are way too busy, im sure we arent meant to be going at this pace! Its important to take time in the day for being present . I am loving that super cosy jumper you are wearing, may i ask, is it homemade or bought, i think my winter wardrobe needs one! xx
