There's a train shop next to the Strasburg Railroad, I bought one of these and it's the muscle of my O gauge fleet. It literally needs cars behind it or else it'll derail at full speed.
Just picked up a 2055 up from zitniktrains. Absolutely fell in love with it. Cleaned it up oiled it runs great. Definitely one of my favorite postwar trains. Great video!!!
Zack I love your reminders that O gauge does not mean you have to mortgage the house. I like how thoroughly you explain things. One “how to” I’d love to see from you is this: on your layout you run both older variable voltage locomotives and newer constant voltage locomotives. What equipment enables that? How do they work? This would be great for us who are new to the hobby.
Thanks Bill! I went over the power a little a bit ago. Not the best explanations, however should give an idea. I have the DCS TIU set up for all ports “fixed” voltage. So they put out whatever power is going into them. Basically just a pass through to run the conventional engines- ruclips.net/video/CGQ2aOVnjmo/видео.html ruclips.net/video/V3DVn2w18ZI/видео.html
There 's just something about older trains that's magic. I love it. It's 1953 again, I'm a kid and a budding engineer to be. Your videos are wonderulf. Thansk and God bless you!
Just a thought. The motor/gear noise might just be normal, however this engine has magnatraction and any metal particles is gets near, it will pick up and then get that metal on the gears of the wheels, and then grind into the other gears. Along with that thought, the one I had also that first combination gear from the motor gear to the two back wheels, it has a brass center gear, and brass is softer then steel. That gear wore out on my engine. About 5 or so years later I bought a whole motor/wheel assembly for it and that got me a working engine again,. but it was very much slower then the 2026 I had.
I have had that issue with the magnatraction before. Double checked this one, and all is clean and clear. I’ll have to check out the brass gear. Thanks!
I have a medium sized 031 tubular layout L shaped 4x8x6 and all I run ate postwar trains for the most part . I really enjoy buying ones that wont run or have not been loved to fix up and then see them run well again. I spend no more than $60 each on a loco and I have a 2025 a 2035 a 44tonner and a orange up diesel .. all run fantastically yes they are noisy no they wont crawl around the layout but just something about them that lights my fire!
The 2055 is my favorite Hudson, and hope to make her my next purchase. Lionel trains are noisy, but if you've ever stepped out of your car at a grade crossing you found that trains are, well, noisy by nature. If you don't like noise try N scale. They don't make noise at all. You can run one in a library. Lionel's run in a cafeteria setting.

Zack btw I received the menards billboard sign last week in the mail. Thing has tons of adds you can put in it!!!! Plus I might buy a couple of modern cars. They have a 6 pack B&N oil cars. That would look cool on the layout. Great video. I love that locomotive.
Sweet!! They do give you a bunch of decals for it! Which did you go with? I was eyeing some of their rolling stock when in the store. Some good looking pieces for a great price. I’ve got a 6 pack of UP coal hoppers. Nice cars. I don’t think they look as good as their newer offerings though. Let me know if you pick some up!
25 decals came with it. “Your wife is hot” and the Maytag I’m going to go with. They are sticky decals. I am not pulling the backing off them. This way I can always interchange them.

I own about 12 complete trains and about 200 plus diffident train cars , but last year my mother in law gave me a 1953 Hudson 2055 with tender . It’s rough and scratched up. Had to take it apart clean it and oil it. I still haven’t made the tender whistle but the train runs very strong. Since it’s my beat up train I have a soft spot for it and have found myself running all the time . I know it’s not worth much but it won me over , congrats on your set !
I agree with you Zack about postwar items. I appreciate your explanations four digit versus three digit numbering. I did not know that. A look through the catalogues should have told me that. Hi Zach, first time comment. Old sailor grew up with Lionel. Had huge pw collection in Seattle, worked for Al Cox (google him), largest train collector on west coast. See my RUclips site, texspecial for video's of my Texas train layout. Really enjoy your site and enthusiasm of Lionel trains. Carry on.
Original paint. Armor all does wonders for the old steamers LOL. The video makes it look a little better than it is too. It has some battle scars. She’s an original postwar piece. Inside the tote are the boxes mentioned. The ones up top are newer for sure, for other pieces. A few of the boxes are pretty rough. That’s why I keep em in the tote.
I will say lionel is over charging by at least 300% for there legacy line! Dam I can buy a cell phone for less or advance rc drone for less. Most people will not enjoy the hobby or consider because of the over markups!

I would LOVE to get one as well. They look fantastic. They do command some $$ though as mentioned. Maybe some day.
@@CountryBunkersTrains Have considered the 80s and 90s version of the 773. Has steam sounds and whistle.
Besides Recommending Lionel's Angela Trotta Thomas Santa Fe Boxcar my other Recommendation would be
Lionel's Angela Trotta Thomas Hudson Boxcar Because I think that you should save your cash to buy both
The Angela Trotta Thomas Santa Fe and Hudson Boxcars to make a great addition to your LIonel Santa Fe
and Hudson Locomotives.
Carry on.
Thanks Steve! Will have to check y’all out!
💪👍
Nor do most come with a tender!
It's a baby Hudson I just fixed mine yesterday
Good deal! Hope it’s running great!
Repainted?
Are you sure that is a 1950s set? Boxes look too modern.
Well 7 minutes before it moves is too long.
Luckily you are able to fast forward I guess.....
@@CountryBunkersTrains I think sometimes in a bad mood and on you tube and say mean things. You post good stuff here ....
I will say lionel is over charging by at least 300% for there legacy line! Dam I can buy a cell phone for less or advance rc drone for less. Most people will not enjoy the hobby or consider because of the over markups!
It's postwar or nothing!!!
Feel free to enjoy the new plastic, over priced, annoying trains...
I'll never buy one,and continue to enjoy, the legendary Lionel post war trains.
I love the 2055 .I have a 685 and they really are nice
